Hi All

Am currently progressing with my first season with Team Sky. The Giro has just started but I've been struck by disaster back at home. Chris Froome has been injured on a training ride and is out till mid June.

Obviously this will have an effect on his race programme in the build up as the Dauphine looks out of the question. The problem is other then the Tours of Switzerland & Slovenia (Which Clash) there isn't mush else in the build up to the Tour other then a few little one day races and the NC's.

My question is, will a mid-June come back be too late for Chris Froome to be at peak fitness by 9 July? How will his training Schedule by affected by his injury? Is there anything I can do to help him get to peak fitness quicker? I really don't like using training camps but I guess this is an emergency Smile

Cheers

If the first estimate is that he's out till mid-June chances are he'll miss the TdF entirely, I'm afraid. The doctors always underestimate, you can easily add 2 weeks, if not a month to that. If he does return in time, fitness shouldn't be much of a problem, he'll just need rhythm, but that isn't crucial and he'll get it on the first stages anyway.

Sad That's not good.

So basically it's a case of keeping my fingers crossed and hoping he comes back in time for the tour. And if he is back in time get him riding as many races as he can to get his rhythm up.

Hopefully he'll be back as I don't have any other real options for a top 3 finish.

Cheers

Arrrrghh

You were right. Froome has missed the Tour. Gonna have to try to get into the top 10 with Nieve now. Sponsors aren't going to be happy.

At least it Means Froome will win plenty of late season races now .

I'm sure Froome will win the Vuelta instead. Good luck with Nieve!
