Only 3 riders taking part to the Taiwanese Championships, that this year will be raced in a flat route, in the whereabouts of the Capital City, Taipei. The 2 riders from Compal will try to team up against Indosat’s enemy, and it will be interesting to see the outcome of this.
Wang (Compal) attacks as soon as the racing is off. He’s got 3 minutes on the other 2 just a few kilometers after.
Hung will just try to look after Lee closely, now that his teammate is comfortably in front.
And Wang takes a very easy win! No one tried to face him today. Although the other 2 clearly tried their best, they will have to withdraw when they’re basically just halfway through the race.
The very same riders will also take part to the pan-flat Time Trial. There’s no standout time trialist in the field, although last year’s champion Wang, who also won the Road Race, should be a step above the others. Time trialling is not Hung’s best ability, while Lee could be a serious threat for the defending champion.
Hung starts first, but so far he’s just not going fast enough to be a threat to the other 2. Lee in the meantime sets his first time in the first checkpoint.
When Wang reached that point too, he’s more than 10 seconds in front of Lee already, and he keeps riding at the very same high tempo up until the 3rd intermediate too. We don’t see him losing the title, currently.
Lee is momentarily first after crossing the line in less than 1 hour and 12 minutes. No good sign for him that Wang is about to end his effort too, as we can notice from his silhouette in the background of the picture.
…and Wang, riding in a very fancy outfit, can rejoice again! After a nice Road Race win, he takes the double crown by beating all his opponents in the Time Trial as well! Congratulations to him and to Compal in general, that keeps doing well in this year’s National Championships.
