5 riders taking part to the Thai Championships, that this year will be raced in a hilly route, in the whereabouts of the Trat province. The 4 riders from Siam will try to team up against Indosat’s enemy. But we all know that they’ll stand no chance anyway if he’s the first to attack.
Sirironnachai (Siam) attacks as soon as the racing is off. Halfway through the first ascent up the steep climb he’s got 3 minutes on the other 4 already. He won last year’s Championships in exactly the same way. We’ll call him Siri.
Rain is forecasted for today. Better not to take unnecessary risks they think.
And Siri takes the win! The opposition was just a thousand steps below him today. Wow! Although they clearly tried their best, they will have to withdraw. *sad face*
The very same riders will also take part to the pan-flat Time Trial. There’s no standout time trialist in the field, although last year’s champion Sai-Udomsin (Siam), as well as Boonratanathanakorn (Siam) – who we’ll be calling Boonny - look to be in a better position than the other 3 to contest the win in this kind of speciality. It’s raining quite heavily at the moment.
Sai-Udomsin (Siam) is definitely going better than anyone else and looks strong to retain the National title he gained the last year.
Boonny (Siam) pays about 20 seconds per checkpoint. Behind him, the other 3 have already crossed the line. Distanced respectively 1 minute each, Sirironnachai (Siam), Chawchiangkuang (Indosat) and Changpad (Siam) currently hold the first 3 positions.
Boonny (Siam) momentarily finishes his effort in 1st place, only just more than 40 seconds in front of the Road Race Champion Siri.
A good 30 seconds later, Sai-Udomsin (Siam) rounds off his effort in 1 hour, 11 minutes and 36 seconds. Not the best of the times, probably not aided by the rain, but definitely more than enough to win him the Time Trial National Championship for the 2nd year straight. Congratulations!
