4 riders taking part to the Bolivian Championships, that this year will be raced in a hilly route, in the whereabouts of La Paz. The question is: given that the 4 of them all are from different teams, will we see a non-early breakaway win?
Solis (Bouygues) attacks as soon as the racing is off. Halfway through the first ascent up the steep climb he’s got 3 minutes on the other 3 already.
Ramos Ticona (Bonsucro), Zurita (Alpina) and Campero (Festina) are taking it easy. The latter will have to give up his Bolivian National Champion jersey as it seems. 14 to go for the leader, 22 to go for our 3 tireless heroes.
And he takes the win! Something about his amazing solo effort and how he was far stronger than his rivals. Although they clearly tried their best, they will have to withdraw. *cries*
The very same riders will also take part to the pan-flat Time Trial. Ramos Ticona (Bonsucro) looks to be the clear favourite, considering that everyone else discovered the TT bikes today.
Campero (Festina) is the penultimate rider to take the start and the first to set an acceptable time. The other 2 before him have been challenged by some fat amateurs.
Ramos Ticona (Bonsucro) is going even stronger though, after the second checkpoint he is 42 seconds in front of him.
He keeps it up in the 3rd checkpoint as well, and now has an edge of 1 minute and 6 seconds. Everyone else is at least 3 minutes behind him.
Campero (Festina) crosses the line in 1 h and 12 minutes and momentarily takes the lead.
Very momentarily, because Ramos Ticona (Bonsucro) arrives less than 40 seconds later and is delighted to know he will wear the Bolivian National Champion jersey in every Time Trial he’ll face.
Solis is a solid 3rd, 3 minutes and 45 seconds behind. Zurita is 5th, almost 5 minutes behind, narrowly behind Pablo Gordo, an amateur.
