Hello everyone. I started playing PCM 11 again and I was wondering what makes a good hilly rider other than the hilly stat? I'm particularly confused about STA, RES and REC? How important are each stat to a hilly rider? Maybe the newest game use the same system, in that case it can maybe be slightly more easier to figure out..?
Stamina (STA) is very important to a hilly rider, it effects the loss of green bar and usually comes into play in races 200+ kilometres in length, which many hilly races are.
Resistance (RES) effects the rate that the yellow bar goes down, still important for puncheurs but not as much as far climbers and timetrialists who have to make longer efforts.
Recovery (REC) effects the amount of green bar recovered after each stage, usually only has an effect in grand tours, so isn't of the biggest importance for puncheurs especially as the more hilly stages are usually at the start of GTs.
Acceleration (ACC) is very important it affects the ability to get away and attack or follow attacks, so important for a puncheur,
flat is important for not wasting energy in long races (200+ km again) or ones with a flat section before the finish.
Sprint not needed but very good if it comes down to a flat group sprint finish, does also have an impact in uphill sprints but the amount depends on the gradient of the climb and something set in the stage editor.
I would personally rate (probably a bit off but gives an idea :
Fl - 7
Mo - 6 (longer climbs and Liege - Bastonge - Liege/Giro di Lombardia this is important)
Hl - 10
TT - 1 (in hilly tours maybe or grand tours to grab a day or to in the leaders jersey but not important for single hilly races)
PRL - 1 (same as above)
CB - 1 (only if the race has some cobbles could be useful but rare in WT races)
SP - 6.5
ACC - 8
FTR - 5 (effects the chances of a flashing red bar which means a longer and better attack)
STA - 8
RES - 6
REC - 2 (only if you have a grand tour)
I believe I've forgotten one of the stats but can't remember what So let me know if there's another.

Alright dude. Thanks a lot, you really helped me! Appreciate it.
ACC is the stat most important for a hilly rider, as a high ACC also ensures not just the ability to attack but also the ability to react and close down gaps. ACC works well in hilly stages but kind of sucks on mtn stages, as you burn too much energy.
RES does more than some people think and it is important for mtn climbers which is why Froome and Landa should have two of the best RES stats in the game, as it measures the ability of a rider to attack from a long way out and then riding at a high level for quite a few kms and the greater the RES stat the longer they can do it for. But for hilly classics less important.
