pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PT/Colombia/MG15_colombia_6_000.jpg

The final stage is tough again, 172km and a finish on the Cerra Torro. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/fes.png Spilak is a Favourite and has a lead of over two minutes in the GC on pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/qst.png Madrazo and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/btc.png Taaramäe although they will have decide whether to race against pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/fes.png Spilak or each other. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/vwa.png Denifl, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/rbh.png Alarcon and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/bac.png Tenorio are also favourites for the stage.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PT/Colombia/MG15_colombia_6_001.jpg

The first climb went to pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pnd.png Kohl and the sprint to pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/mei.png Ji, who has underperformed a bit this race, also in the break are pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pok2.png Keinath and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/gnu.png Talansky also in this group. Behind pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ozc.png OZ and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ayu.png Ayubowan! Are both chasing hard, seemingly without reason, either they want a rider in the break or pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ayu.png Pinot and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ozc.png Morton are feeling good today. Eventually the two teams concede and the break pulls away.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PT/Colombia/MG15_colombia_6_002.jpg

With 100km left pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ven.png Pirazzi and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/gnu.png Agudelo both jump away from the peloton. Further up the road pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/mei.png Ji has taken every mountain sprint so far.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PT/Colombia/MG15_colombia_6_003.jpg

Just after pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/akm.png Galta, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/boi.png Gomez Marchante and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/met.png Karnulin go as well and catch pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ven.png Pirazzi and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/gnu.png Agudelo, before continuing and dropping them.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PT/Colombia/MG15_colombia_6_004.jpg

Half-way through the stage pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pok2.png Keinath realises he can win the mountains competition and proceeds to win every remaining sprint, putting him provisionally into the KOM lead. Just 22 kilometres to go and this group has 3 minutes on the chase and 6 minutes on the peloton.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PT/Colombia/MG15_colombia_6_005.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/btc.png Taaramäe does the same as pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/qst.png Madrazo yesterday and attacks on the smaller climb before the main one, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/fes.png Spilak isn’t going to let that one go, while pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/qst.png Madrazo, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/bec.png Velits and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pro.png Henao Montoya quickly chase up to them.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PT/Colombia/MG15_colombia_6_006.jpg

As soon as pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/qst.png Madrazo, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pro.png Henao Montoya and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/bec.png Velits catch up, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/fes.png Spilak goes! He wants to win this race with Panaché!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PT/Colombia/MG15_colombia_6_007.jpg

As they begin the climb pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/gnu.png Talansky goes for it! pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/mei.png Ji chases him, while pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pnd.png Kohl and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pok2.png Keinath keep working together.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PT/Colombia/MG15_colombia_6_008.jpg

15km left at the base of the climb and the race is a different story, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/gnu.png Talansky, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/mei.png Ji and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pok2.png Keinath have come together and have 3 minutes on these riders, so he’ll have a fight today. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/btc.png Taaramäe and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/qst.png Madrazo have caught pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/fes.png Spilak, while pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pro.png Henao Montoya and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/bec.png Velits yo-yo off the back, dropping off every time they accelerate before coming back. A 7 rider group containing pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ork.png Dekker, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pnd.png Dombrowski, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/vwa.png Denifl, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/bac.png Tenorio, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/rbh.png Alarcon, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/tcs.png Kritskiy and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/akm.png Martin chase.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PT/Colombia/MG15_colombia_6_009.jpg

Just over 10km left and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/gnu.png Talansky goes, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/mei.png Ji chases, while pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pok2.png Keinath drops back and is caught by pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pnd.png Kohl, they still have 2 minutes on pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/fes.png Spilak’s group.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PT/Colombia/MG15_colombia_6_010.jpg

7.5km left and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/mei.png Ji, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pok2.png Keinath and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pnd.png Kohl have all been caught leaving just pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/gnu.png Talansky out the, who still has 1 minute 30 seconds in hand. The pace must not be too high yet though, as a 6 man group (the 7 mentioned earlier minus pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pnd.png Dombrowski is just 50 seconds behind the yellow jersey group.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PT/Colombia/MG15_colombia_6_011.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/gnu.png Talansky had nothing left and is caught with 6km to go, neither do pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/bec.png Velits and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pro.png Henao Montoya who both get dropped, just the top three in the general classification left then.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PT/Colombia/MG15_colombia_6_012.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/qst.png Madrazo goes! pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/btc.png Taaramäe digs deep and follows him, as for pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/fes.png Spilak, no reaction, he stares forward and keeps going, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/bec.png Velits and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pro.png Henao Montoya catch him! There are 5km left, 2 minutes is still possible if they commit themselves.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PT/Colombia/MG15_colombia_6_013.jpg

They have a 40 second gap with 3.5km remaining, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/akm.png Martin catches up and offers pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/fes.png Spilak much needed support, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/vwa.png Denifl, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/rbh.png Alarcon, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/bac.png Tenorio and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ork.png Dekker have almost caught up to now!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PT/Colombia/MG15_colombia_6_014.jpg

2km left and they have a 1’02 lead on pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/fes.png Spilak, once time bonuses are reckoned it’s possible, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/qst.png Madrazo is 2’09 down on pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/fes.png Spilak and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/btc.png Taaramäe is at 2’20, so they’ll be wondering about each other as well.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PT/Colombia/MG15_colombia_6_015.jpg

1 kilometre left, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/akm.png Martin is chasing for pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/fes.png Spilak and the lead is at 1’10, but they are starting to sprint now!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PT/Colombia/MG15_colombia_6_016.jpg

500 metres left and they are neck and neck! This sprint matters for the points as well as the GC, but that also depends on pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/fes.png Spilak.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PT/Colombia/MG15_colombia_6_017.jpg

And, by the smallest of margins, it’s pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/qst.png Madrazo! Just beating pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/btc.png Taaramäe, now we wait for pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/fes.png Spilak.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PT/Colombia/MG15_colombia_6_018.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/fes.png Spilak beats pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/akm.png Martin for third, I’m sure he would have given the place to him if not for the time bonuses, he stop the clock on 1’11! He keeps the yellow jersey! pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/akm.png Martin’s performance here put him in the top 5 as well.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pro.png Henao Montoya and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/bec.png Velits complete a good day with 5th and 6th respectively, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/vwa.png Denifl manages 7th before pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/bac.png Tenorio leads pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ork.png Dekker and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/rbh.png Alarcon to the other top ten positions.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/fes.png Simon Spilak wins the 2015 Vuelta a Colombia a great performance, taking 2 stages and the points jersey as well.
