Baltic Chain Tour - Stage 5
trekbmc
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PCT/Baltic/MG15_Baltic_5_000.jpg

The final stage is 160 kilometres from Utena to Vilnius. It’s set to be an exciting finish, with just 1 second separating pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Ahlstrand and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pum.png Ciolek. The stage also includes the only mountains points and only intermediate sprint of the whole race, Ciolek has a 1 point advantage in the points classification, so the sprint could be important there, as well as there is a 3 second time bonus for the winner, going down to third. While whoever wins the mountains points will take the mountains jersey for the race.

The favourites today are the winners of the past three stages, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pum.png Ciolek, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/prp.png Avelino and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Ahlstrand as well as pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/blk.png Nelson, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/onc.png Guillén and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/bpo.png Keukeleire, whatever happens we’re going to get a good race today.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PCT/Baltic/MG15_Baltic_5_001.jpg

Everybody wants to win the mountain points and a ten man group makes it to the top together, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/eaf.png Vaugrenard is the fastest their as will take home the king of the mountains classification, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/gnu.png Van Zandbeek finishes second and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/fes.png Kastrantas is third.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/eaf.png Vaugrenard wins the sprint as well, the minor places go to pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/azt.png Coronel and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/mus.png Verona, however the peloton aren’t really happy with 10 riders staying away and have almost pulled them back.

Eventually 8 riders get away for the day, the riders in the break are pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/rbc.png Duchesne, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/aeg.png Schädlich, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/azt.png Codrington, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/bpo.png Jallays, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/gde.png Christian, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/bac.png Isaychev, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/fes.png Van Keirsbulck and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/onc.png Kosic.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PCT/Baltic/MG15_Baltic_5_004.jpg

30km left and the break is mostly caught, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/rbc.png Duchesne, decides to give it another go, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/bac.png Isaychev and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/aeg.png Schädlich chase him and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/azt.png Codrington is struggling behind, the rest of the break has been caught.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PCT/Baltic/MG15_Baltic_5_005.jpg

20km to go and the break has been caught, it looks like it’ll come down to a sprint now.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PCT/Baltic/MG15_Baltic_5_006.jpg

10 kilometres left to race, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/mac.png Mobil – Aeropostal has been doing a large portion of the work on the front supporting pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Swedbank, they must believe in pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/mac.png Granjel Cabrera’s chances to win the stage today. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Ahlstrand, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/bpo.png Keukeleire, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pum.png Ciolek, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/blk.png Nelson, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/eaf.png Bouhanni, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/boi.png Drapac and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Kvist are all at the very front now. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/prp.png Avelino is further back but he has a few teammates near the front and it looks like he is moving forward.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PCT/Baltic/MG15_Baltic_5_007.jpg

5 kilometres to go, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/mac.png Mobil – Aeropostal has pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/mac.png Cruz, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/mac.png Dall'Antonia and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/mac.png Rizza in front of pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/mac.png Granjel Cabrera, who is followed by pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/boi.png Drapac and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Stenersen. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Ahlstrand just has pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Kreder in front of him, although pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Klostergaard is coming round, while pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/bpo.png Keukeleire and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/eaf.png Bouhanni are following the pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Swedbank riders, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pum.png Ciolek is behind pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/eaf.png Bouhanni but for the first time in this race he has almost no support, just pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pum.png Lander who looks like he is riding for himself. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/blk.png Nelson, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/rbc.png B. Van Poppel, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Kvist and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pro.png D. Van Poppel are still right up there as well.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PCT/Baltic/MG15_Baltic_5_008.jpg

4km left pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/mac.png Dall'Antonia leads pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/mac.png Rizza and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/mac.png Granjel Cabrera, most other riders have little support, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Ahlstrand is out in the wind pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/bpo.png Keukeleire is just next to him, with pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/eaf.png Bouhanni behind, while pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pum.png Ciolek is looking for a wheel. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/boi.png Drapac has found pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/mac.png Granjel Cabrera’s wheel and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/bon.png Castañeda is trying to follow pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/boi.png Drapac. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Kreder is supporting pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Kvist, interesting tactics given pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Ahlstrand could win the whole race, while pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/blk.png Nelson is right next to pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Kvist as well. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/aeg.png Boom is well placed too, with pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/aeg.png Schädlich in front of him.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PCT/Baltic/MG15_Baltic_5_009.jpg

3km to go and the group has sorted themselves into one train, the order is pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/mac.png Dall'Antonia – pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/mac.png Rizza – pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/mac.png Granjel Cabrera – pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Ahlstrand – pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/bpo.png Keukeleire – pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/eaf.png Bouhanni – pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/boi.png Drapac after the pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Kvist, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pum.png Ciolek and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/bon.png Castañeda are in there own small line, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/blk.png Nelson is still sitting a little further back but he is still there.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PCT/Baltic/MG15_Baltic_5_010.jpg

2 kilometres left, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/mac.png Dall'Antonia pulls off the front and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/mac.png Rizza launches an all-out sprint! pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/mac.png Granjel Cabrera still waits on his wheel and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Ahlstrand follows him, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/bpo.png Keukeleire, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/eaf.png Bouhanni, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/boi.png Drapac and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pum.png Ciolek all follow him.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PCT/Baltic/MG15_Baltic_5_011.jpg

1.5 kilometres still and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Ahlstrand is going early! Perhaps he’s trying to keep pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pum.png Ciolek out of it, as he is further back. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/bpo.png Keukeleire is the only one to follow him, as they pass pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/mac.png Rizza and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/mac.png Granjel Cabrera.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PCT/Baltic/MG15_Baltic_5_012.jpg

The flamme rouge as they enter the final kilometre, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Ahlstrand is still leading, with pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/bpo.png Keukeleire on his wheel. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/eaf.png Bouhanni is scrambling to catch them, while pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/mac.png Granjel Cabrera follows him. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pum.png Ciolek and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/blk.png Nelson are trying to catch up on the other side of the road, with pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/aeg.png Sbaragli and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Kvist behind them.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PCT/Baltic/MG15_Baltic_5_013.jpg

500 metres left and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Ahlstrand is still leading! pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/bpo.png Keukeleire has to make his move soon if he want to win the stage, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/eaf.png Bouhanni can’t quite find pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/bpo.png Keukeleire’s wheel. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/blk.png Nelson is coming quickly and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pum.png Ciolek is behind him!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PCT/Baltic/MG15_Baltic_5_014.jpg

And pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Ahlstrand takes the win! He’ll also win the GC now. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/bpo.png Keukeleire just holds off pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/blk.png Nelson for second this puts pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/bpo.png Keukleleire into third in GC despite being on equal time with pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/blk.png Nelson while pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pum.png Ciolek gets past pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/eaf.png Bouhanni for fourth. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Kvist finishes ahead of pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/rbc.png B. Van Poppel, while pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/mac.png Granjel Cabrera only got eighth for all his teams work. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/aeg.png Sbaragli takes ninth and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/mac.png Rizza rounds out the top ten.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PCT/Baltic/MG15_Baltic_5_015.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Jonas Ahlstrand wins the 2015 Baltic Chain Tour!
