Baltic Chain Tour - Stage 3
trekbmc
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PCT/Baltic/MG15_Baltic_3_000.jpg

Stage 3 is even flatter than stage 2 and is 170km long from Smiltene to Riga, perfect again for the sprinters, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pum.png Ciolek is the top favourite again, as well as pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Ahlstrand after he dominated the last stage, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/prp.png Avelino, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/blk.png Nelson, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/onc.png Guillén and lots of other names could take the win today, it’s a very open stage again.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PCT/Baltic/MG15_Baltic_3_001.jpg

There is lots of interest in the breakaway but eventually pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/mus.png Abreu, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/fes.png Van Keirsbulck and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/rbc.png van Zyl establish a break.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PCT/Baltic/MG15_Baltic_3_002.jpg

The break is almost caught with 7 kilometres to go, it was always going to come down to a sprint. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pum.png Daniel, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pum.png Bevin, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/prp.png Gonçalves and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pum.png Declerq have opened a small gap on the rest of the peloton, who stick to the left of the road due to the strong crosswind, Most of the top sprinters are up here, while pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pum.png Puma Sap and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/prp.png Prio – Porto have a handful of lead-out men each. Unfortunately for him, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Ahlstrand can’t find any lead-out men and has currently got no wheels to follow, despite being near the front.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PCT/Baltic/MG15_Baltic_3_003.jpg

5km to go as the peloton catches pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/mus.png Abreu and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/rbc.png van Zyl, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/fes.png Van Keirsbulck found the legs for one more go but it doesn’t look good for him either. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Ahlstrand has found a spot out of the wind, behind pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/prp.png Coutinho while pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Kvist and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Kreder try to make their way back up to him. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pum.png Ciolek looks good today, given the team has put all their riders in support of him. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/blk.png Nelson, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/bon.png Castañeda and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/bpo.png Keukeleire are all up here, as well as pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/aeg.png Boom, who is still third in the GC. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/prp.png Avelino is just out of picture, with two teammates of his own.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PCT/Baltic/MG15_Baltic_3_004.jpg

2.5 kilometres left to race and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/fes.png Van Keirsbulck has been caught, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/prp.png Prio – Porto has established a lead-out train for pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/prp.png Avelino consisting of pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/prp.png Carvalho and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/prp.png Caldeira, while pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/boi.png Drapac jumps on the back. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pum.png Puma – Sap somehow managed to fail there attempts at a lead-out for pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pum.png Ciolek and now he only has pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pum.png Giaux and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pum.png Lander for support. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Ahlstrand is paying for his efforts in the wind and is way back, but pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Kvist and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Kreder have moved forward to make up for that, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/aeg.png Krieger, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/blk.png Nelson and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/azt.png Farrar are all up there as well.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PCT/Baltic/MG15_Baltic_3_005.jpg

1.5 kilometres to go, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/prp.png Caldeira is launching for pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/prp.png Avelino, who is followed by pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/boi.png Drapac, with pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/blk.png Nelson attempting to get on their train, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pum.png Ciolek and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pum.png Lander are giving their best to match it, while pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/eaf.png Bouhanni waits on pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pum.png Ciolek’s wheel, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Kvist and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Kreder drop back for pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Ahlstrand now, who isn’t giving up.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PCT/Baltic/MG15_Baltic_3_006.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/prp.png Avelino begins to leave pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/prp.png Caldeira’s wheel, so too does pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pum.png Ciolek and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/eaf.png Bouhanni next to them, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/boi.png Drapac and Nelson are following pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/prp.png Avelino while pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Ahlstrand tries to bring himself forward again.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PCT/Baltic/MG15_Baltic_3_007.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pum.png Ciolek is so strong but can he catch pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/prp.png Avelino!? pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/boi.png Drapac can’t hold that sort of pace and finds pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/prp.png Caldeira’s wheel again, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/eaf.png Bouhanni has dropped back a little too, Nelson keeps coming though, just behind, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Ahlstrand is in 9th, fighting for every place.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PCT/Baltic/MG15_Baltic_3_008.jpg

But nobody can beat pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/prp.png Avelino, his team set him up perfectly and he finished it off. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pum.png Ciolek is almost a bike length behind, but with another one behind him, he comes second, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/prp.png Caldeira, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/blk.png Nelson and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/boi.png Drapac finish all right next to each other, but are given places in that order, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/azt.png Farrar sprinted well for sixth, and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/eaf.png Bouhanni found a good wheel to get seventh, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pum.png Lander comes eighth after leading out pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pum.png Ciolek, while pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Kvist and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Kreder, make the odd move of grabbing ninth and tenth, while pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Ahlstrand can only watch in eleventh, not getting any time bonuses. Despite all this, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Ahlstrand keeps a hold of the yellow jersey.
