Volcan de Agua Classic
Some Wiki first: Volcán de Agua (also known as Hunahpú by Mayans) is a stratovolcano located in the department of Sacatepéquez in Guatemala. At 3,760 m (12,340 ft), Agua Volcano towers more than 3,500 m (11,500 ft) above the Pacific coastal plain to the south. The volcano has not had any historical eruptions, but it has the potential to produce debris flows and lahars that could inundate nearby populated areas.
And now for this new event on the ManGame calendar: 206km in total, this is one beast of a climber classic. Those, who rode the Kenyan Mountain Classic a while ago, will call the African equivalent some kind of a joke in comparison to what they've to achieve here!
The Startlist
The Favorites Rider | MO | STA | ACC | Rider | MO | STA | ACC | Contador | 82 | 76 | 70 | Antón | 79 | 73 | 77 | Brajkovic | 81 | 77 | 72 | Moschella | 79 | 73 | 62 | Sella | 81 | 75 | 76 | Quintana | 78 | 75 | 64 | Van den Broeck | 81 | 75 | 70 | Rodrigues | 78 | 71 | 72 | Rujano | 81 | 74 | 75 | Pedraza | 78 | 68 | 73 | Berhane | 80 | 77 | 68 | Stetina | 78 | 67 | 65 | Eastman | 80 | 76 | 69 | Valverde | 77 | 75 | 77 | Nazaret | 80 | 71 | 72 | König | 77 | 75 | 67 | Krasnoperov | 80 | 68 | 61 | López Garcia | 77 | 72 | 62 | Samwel | 79 | 81 | 64 | Gomez Marchante | 77 | 70 | 73 | Talansky | 79 | 75 | 63 | Alizadeh | 76 | 73 | 70 |
Contador, who won this mentioned Kenyan Mountain Classic this year, has to be the top-favorite for this race, too. The Spaniard enjoys a pretty outstanding first season with Bonsucro and certainly has the skills to add another big victory here.
Brajkovic, Sella, Van den Broeck and Rujano as the next best contenders. Brajkovic (Corsica International winner) and Sella (runner-up behind Contador in Vancouver) proved their strength in their biggest races most recently. Of course those names should be all capable of pulling a result here.
Berhane, Eastman, Nazaret and maybe Samwel or Talansky as more serious contenders then. Talansky coming off a decent 4th in Romandie, while Samwel comes with the best stamina of all favorites.

Brajkovic should win this with his Stamina, though Contador will also be close

Krasnoperov top 10 or fired. Seriously. The team is strong enough to help you, just deliver something...

Thank god I'm not here, Nerz probably would've been in a split on the first descent.

Have been hugely looking forward to this race. Top 3 is a must for Brajko, but considering his recent form, that shouldnt be a problem really ^^
Very odd to not see Intxausi + Machado here, but great for the rest obviously. Keizer and Abal missing aswell, the field could have been alot stronger.
This is likely to be a really weird race with the AI, hopefully it will come down as a showdown between the strongest riders. Crossing my fingers bringing an strong support team will help aswell!

Hoping Lopez and Arroyo can attack mid way through or one of my other rider attacks to get in the breakaway and can hold on till the finish.

I think we'll be lucky to get something out of this, I guess that makes the team's goal just getting a point/ in the break.

Would be nice if Samwel could perform here and get in the top 10. Not expecting much though with a packed field as expected and his terrible DH stat.
Looking forward to the report, it should be a crazy race! |

There was a mountainous 1-dayer last season where only about half the field finished, think this may be similar! Hoping for Talansky to confirm an upswing in form with a top 10, and have other decent riders who should figure in top 25. Beltran for the break would be awesome!

Hmm, König will have a hard time to succeed here. It would be great if our old friend Rujano could do well here though.
