Puma had a strong month in March, which is just as well as they took part in almost every race. In fact it was a very good month for former PT teams as the next best scorers were Bpost, Aegon and Prio.
1 | | Team Puma - SAP | 621 | 2 | | Team Bpost | 569 | 3 | | Aegon - Lavazza | 503 | 4 | | Prio - Porto | 416 | 5 | | Evonik - ELKO | 357 |
Onto April, and Bpost and Aegon were able to carry forward their momentum and battled it out as the top scoring teams in the division. Nutresa 3rd and Buff 4th all showed the value of consistency with neither of these Top 4 teams actually winning a race overall this month.
1 | | Team Bpost | 541 | 2 | | Aegon - Lavazza | 530 | 3 | | Grupo Nutresa | 446 | 4 | | Buff - Polska | 427 | 5 | | Project: Africa | 423 | 6 | | Team Kenya Airways | 422 |
Bpost and Aegon traded the lead at various points this month and in the end it has come down to just 2 points - with Bpost surging past Aegon after a very strong final day.
5 of the next 6 teams all had good scores in Romandie, which could turn out to have been a crucial race in the season when we later look back. But winners Evonik are not quite in the automatic promotion positions as they are 6th, behind Gazelle, Puma and Kenya Airways.
Nutresa and Buff move into the Top 10, while Buff jump up 10 positions to 11th. Project Africa and RBC also made good position jumps, while Prio and Amex were amongst those to slip down the most.
The order at the bottom is somewhat reshuffled but only one change to the bottom 5. Lululemon move from bottom to 25th, and it is Vontobel who slip down to take their relegation place in 27th. Eddie Stobart now find themselves in last position.
1 | 11 | | Team Bpost | 1508 | 2 | 6 | | Aegon - Lavazza | 1506 | 3 | 1 | | Gazelle | 1381 | 4 | 3 | | Team Puma - SAP | 1351 | 5 | 2 | | Team Kenya Airways | 1299 | 6 | 5 | | Evonik - ELKO | 1223 | 7 | 4 | | Karcher-Adira | 1024 | 8 | 12 | | Grupo Nutresa | 1016 | 9 | 9 | | Eritel - Sonatrach | 977 | 10 | 13 | | Bonsucro | 962 | 11 | 21 | | Buff - Polska | 949 | 12 | 7 | | Prio - Porto | 932 | 13 | 15 | | Bank of Ireland | 926 | 14 | 10 | | Siam Cement - Lenovo | 909 | 15 | 8 | | AMEX-Navigon | 865 | 16 | 22 | | Project: Africa | 767 | 17 | 19 | | Azteca - NBCSN | 754 | 18 | 14 | | Euskaltel-Air France | 753 | 19 | 24 | | RBC Pro Cycling | 738 | 20 | 16 | | Swedbank-PEAB | 725 | 21 | 17 | | Mobil - Aeropostal Ciclismo | 669 | 22 | 18 | | Risa - Ergon | 599 | 23 | 25 | | Children of Chernobyl Foundation p/b Nemiroff | 553 | 24 | 20 | | Team TomTom | 507 | 25 | 30 | | Lululemon/Bulgaria Blackfish | 479 | 26 | 27 | | ONCE-Eroski | 443 | 27 | 23 | | Team Vontobel | 434 | 28 | 28 | | Sauber Petronas | 285 | 29 | 26 | | cycleYorkshire s/b ASDA-Savers | 280 | 30 | 29 | | Eddie Stobart Pro Cycling | 259 |
Gazelle may have lost the current lead, but they are proving to be the most efficient team so far and top the PpRD standings. Kenya Airways are well placed in 2nd, don't let their weak March fool you! These projections favour Evonik at the expense of Bpost in terms of the promotion spots, but Bpost have improved a lot from the first update.
A huge jump in these standings comes for Swedbank, to 9th from their actual position of 20th. Not only did Project Africa and RBC gain in actual positions this month, but they are projected higher too. It's less pleasant for Nutresa though, while it seems much of Buff's recent gains came from racing a lot.
At the bottom, Vontobel are fairing better than Children of Chernobyl, and they swap in the relegation positions.
| | | Team | Total | RD | PpRD | Proj | 1 | 3 | | Gazelle | 1381 | 50 | 27.62 | 3867 | 2 | 5 | | Team Kenya Airways | 1299 | 52 | 24.98 | 3497 | 3 | 4 | | Team Puma - SAP | 1351 | 56 | 24.13 | 3378 | 4 | 6 | | Evonik - ELKO | 1223 | 54 | 22.65 | 3171 | 5 | 2 | | Aegon - Lavazza | 1506 | 68 | 22.15 | 3101 | 6 | 1 | | Team Bpost | 1508 | 70 | 21.54 | 3016 | 7 | 10 | | Bonsucro | 962 | 48 | 20.04 | 2806 | 8 | 9 | | Eritel - Sonatrach | 977 | 54 | 18.09 | 2533 | 9 | 20 | | Swedbank-PEAB | 725 | 41 | 17.68 | 2475 | 10 | 7 | | Karcher-Adira | 1024 | 58 | 17.66 | 2472 | 11 | 16 | | Project: Africa | 767 | 45 | 17.04 | 2386 | 12 | 12 | | Prio - Porto | 932 | 58 | 16.07 | 2250 | 13 | 19 | | RBC Pro Cycling | 738 | 46 | 16.04 | 2246 | 14 | 14 | | Siam Cement - Lenovo | 909 | 58 | 15.67 | 2194 | 15 | 15 | | AMEX-Navigon | 865 | 56 | 15.45 | 2163 | 16 | 11 | | Buff - Polska | 949 | 62 | 15.31 | 2143 | 17 | 18 | | Euskaltel-Air France | 753 | 52 | 14.48 | 2027 | 18 | 8 | | Grupo Nutresa | 1016 | 74 | 13.73 | 1922 | 19 | 17 | | Azteca - NBCSN | 754 | 55 | 13.71 | 1919 | 20 | 13 | | Bank of Ireland | 926 | 72 | 12.86 | 1800 | 21 | 21 | | Mobil - Aeropostal Ciclismo | 669 | 55 | 12.16 | 1702 | 22 | 22 | | Risa - Ergon | 599 | 52 | 11.52 | 1613 | 23 | 24 | | Team TomTom | 507 | 45 | 11.27 | 1578 | 24 | 25 | | Lululemon/Bulgaria Blackfish | 479 | 43 | 11.14 | 1560 | 25 | 27 | | Team Vontobel | 434 | 40 | 10.85 | 1519 | 26 | 23 | | Children of Chernobyl Foundation p/b Nemiroff | 553 | 53 | 10.43 | 1460 | 27 | 26 | | ONCE-Eroski | 443 | 44 | 10.07 | 1410 | 28 | 29 | | cycleYorkshire s/b ASDA-Savers | 280 | 39 | 7.18 | 1005 | 29 | 30 | | Eddie Stobart Pro Cycling | 259 | 49 | 5.29 | 741 | 30 | 28 | | Sauber Petronas | 285 | 56 | 5.09 | 713 |
Spaniards Alberto Contador and Luis Leon Sanchez are having fantastic seasons so far, they can't stop winning. Contador particularly, and he replaces LLS at the top of the standings.
Summerhill is doing his best at being the PCT Bewley and now sits 3rd, ahead of the consistent scoring of Keizer. Good performances at Corsica and Vancouver also help Sella to remain 5th, and both Van den Broeck and Abal to enter the Top 10.
With 2 classics and a stage race Maxime Monfort is unbeaten so far, yet he is 'only' ranked 16th, tied with Corsica winner and Giro star Brajkovic.

Very happy with where we and Summerhill stand. Looks like the early season concerns about relegation won't be an issue, and we should be good to build on this success for next season.

My team is being outscored by 17 riders and my best placed rider is 122nd, oh and we are predicted bottom of the rankings.
At least we are currently not last
it's a shame that's only due to how much racing we've done.
Hopefully Vontobel don't drop with us as I'd like to see them retain their PCT place next year.

That's surprisingly good. A couple great races certainly help to cover the couple pretty shit ones.
Still Kenya and Evonik are too close for my liking with Prio still lingering behind, and RBC just needs to pick up speed somewhere to maybe get back in the running too.
I wasn't expecting either of them to be that far down after such a big part of the season done already.
The good thing about us not scoring great constantly is that we don't have many overperforming riders, which is always something I'm keeping an eye on with renewals in mind.
Nerz below Bevin is atrocious though, I would gladly pay him more for better results (though tbf Bevin somehow seems to be worth his money...).

Relatively poor month, but not really that many races that was a good fit for the team either.
Still above the relegation spots, and keeping our PPRD on the same level, but I'll think it will be a battle all the way in, even though the last three spots seems to be clear already.

Pretty even at the top, many teams still in the fight, at the bottom however, 3 teams look doomed

I'm just going to enjoy this position while it lasts. Our PPRD should hopefully pick up a little bit now that most of our worst raced are out of the way.

Nice to see Bonsucro, Nutresa and Buff moving up in the standings. Bpost going strong at the top as well, here's hoping they've planned the back half of the season well so they can continue to score.

Thanks SN and congrats Count for those excellent two months. I enjoy 2nd and now also the projected promotion.
I score lots of 20+ Pprd races but I lack some of those 30+/40+ performances that make the big steps. With Contador that dominant I don't see a chance though. |

Still very much battling the Bulgarian Salmons, TomTom, Vontobel, ONCE and also Risa to avoid relegation. Feel pretty comfortable in overtaking Lululemon, however I also think ONCE will pass us, leaving us where we stand now... Either way, Portugal and America will decide a lot for us.

As usual SN's PCT team are the benchmark. Above Irritable Bowel Syndrome and you are promotion candidates. Though maybe the PPRD table is a little more revealing at this stage considering quite a high difference between the teams.
Here I see Aegon (GoT fan roturn?), BPost and Puma going strong. No surprises at all here all three managers are top drawer and look eager I think for PT return. Gazelle also no shock at all to me or anyone. However Evonik and Kenya Airways are the two teams really breaking through. Bonsucro are not too far away perhaps if they can pick things up.
Prio Porto are the team missing really and I think RBC were projected to go better also. Those teams promotion hopes are really being dashed at the moment. Both teams could pick things up if their stars start performing better.
Bottom three are looking pretty poor but they have at least each other to compete with!

A relatively average two months of racing, things need to pick up again as we move into the really important part of the season! Although mid table is really where we should finish so can't complain too much, the lack of stage wins is a concern though.
Valls performing decently well but could certainly be better. While Bouhanni needs to pick up his game and deliver some good results in his next few outings.
The top few teams definitely deserve their spots after fantastic starts to their respective seasons. Should be a great battle for the PCT title.

So-so for us. Contador doing wonders for us and leading the indi. rankings, would be something if he could hold on to that. Challenging a few places inside the top 10 is what we are after, which is still on the cards.
The bottom three teams starting to look marooned already. Don't know what TomTom and ONCE are doing down there in the catacombs.
I always like these updates! |

Very interesting update at the halfway stage of the season. Excluding a horrible March (Last of all teams...) our good form has continued and leaves us on for promotion in both rankings. Could never have expected this at the start of the season.
Now we see our schedule get busier each month so should be interesting to see if we can maintain our current 25 PPRD.
Not surprised at Gazelle doing so well at the moment. Thought they would finish second to Prio but with the Portuguese struggling the title could end up being theirs.
What has really shocked me is TomTom. Surely they will start to climb away from the relegation battle when Hugenhaben and Vantomme start racing regularly.
Thanks for the speedy update SN, always interesting to see these updates. |

After a brief visit in PCT, it seems like we our going straight down back to the CT undergrounds...
So dissappointed in my team really, Brajko got 3/4 of our teams points so far and he only had 1 HC race and 1 C1 race. I mean, its not like I expected much of Guillen etc. But definetely had bigger hopes for Pantano and somewhat for Anton aswell. Landa is kinda useless aswell in the hilly stage races including a mountain it seems. Yet to discover if he can finnish top 15 in completly hilly stagesraces/classics. Anton has only had two PCT races aswell and crashed in one of them, while he led ``domestique faith`` in the other one so can't really rate him yet either. Pantano however is utterly useless, mistake of a mankind grabbing him up. It's a shame, since he looked so promising in tachira at once.
Also funfact; We would have more points from the 21 days of racing in PT than we have from 44 days in PCT.
Luckily Brajko has got lots of races he left, but we are still in big trouble. Would be funny he won the indi. rankings in the end and we still went down.

Still liking how the PpRD standings looks, hopefully we can keep up with that all season that would be great!
Two great months for BPost, congrats to that Count!
Thanks for the update SN, always fun & interesting to read! |
