8th April 2015. Paris Townhall.
The mayor of Paris has called in various French newspapers for a press conference to present its latest idea to boost the image of the city in terms of sports.
Ville de Paris Pro Cycling Team (VPC) is a new joiner to the Continental Tour. The team is backed by the Mayor’s Office of Paris (Mairie de Paris) and a consortium of French companies that have their history deeply rooted in the French capital. Talks had been ongoing for a while between all the parties to create a cycling team that would not only boost the image of the town but also of its sponsors.
The Paris mayor wanted to cash in on the popularity of the Tour de France’s yearly arrival on the Champs Elysees and for the team to be an international vector for the city’s tourism industry. He quickly contacted companies with strong links to the French capital to boost the project. Several of them were interested and the idea of creating a team quickly arose. They waited for the current season to be complete before submitting their project idea. They submitted a strong application to the governing body who accepted VPC into the Continental Tour.
The aim of the team is obviously to rise to the top of the sport. There is no timeline for that, but the staff and sponsors are (hopefully) there for the long run. The team will mirror Paris’ multicultural population with a squad of riders from all around the world but with the aim of eventually rising to the top of the sport with a French rider as its leader. The management is dreaming of eventually having a French rider winning the Tour de France on the Champs Elysees under the colours of a Parisian team.
Mairie de Paris
The Paris Mayor’s office was at the forefront of the project contacting companies with strong links to the capital who would be interested in putting time and money into a project that would help the capital’s tourism industry thanks to its sponsorship of the cycling team.
Citroen

Cycling is a new territory for the brand but they are looking forward to get involved in the project and making shirts that will be comfortable for the riders and also reflect the Parisian vibe of the team.

Totally agree with SN.
Probably the most outstanding jersey so far this season.
The French National colours will make it standout plus the big logo on front and behind.
Quite interested in what riders you can get for next season as France obviously has quite a lot. |

That jersey is truly astonishing. Good luck but looks like you'll have an hard time in the transfer season and we'll meet each other as well I think, considering my french focus! But good luck again

Not only is that jersey brilliant, but the team concept is also quite interesting. I mean a team sponsored by a city council, whose name starts with a P and has 5 letters, and which features a characteristic skyline on the shirt, how could I not be a fan?

Wow, probably best jersey i have seen this year. I love Paris and visited it three times, so i will cheer for you just because of that.
Good luck in the crowded french market.

I am indeed extremely pleased with the jersey, especially as I wasn't of a massive help to the_hoyle. I wanted something very simple as I don't particularly like cycling jerseys. Too crowded, too many sponsors and too many things going on, but he exceeded all of my expectations and as you all say, my first reaction was that the Paris skyline was a great touch. |

Wow what a jersey, looks stunning. Also I like the idea of a city founding/sponsoring a cycling team.
Good luck!
