I was thinking, wouldn't it be nice for the people of PCM.Daily to give money to charity. To do this i thought we could have a charity month, where you could do something for charity, and have people sponsor you. It doesn't have to be people from daily who sponsor you either, it can be anyone.
As for the charity, there will be a list of charities each year, and you, the members of daily, will be able to choose which one the money goes to each year
I would just like to know if anyone is interested.
IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE CYCLING

No because some people do their own fundraiser events e.g the_hoyle's 24hr Challenge etc.

No, because (and don't take this the wrong way) I wouldn't consider you capable of organizing it. It's fine if a story or something fails, but not if actual money is involved.

I agree, I wouldn't trust someone over the internet with any money, like Dippo said, don't take it the wrong way but if people wanted to do it then they will do off their own back.

I would say no, since I am a coldhearted person, who doesn't want to share his money.

Well, Dippo
1) I was planning on it not being me organising it, it would be the whole website. ie. Admins
2)It would be through a website like jutegiving, so i wouldn't be taking money.
3)If you want to be like this it is fine, it looks like it isn't happening anyway

1) You should have asked or waited for a proper response first. Creating a thread in the hope the admin team is then organizing it, is a bit half thought I guess. |

I was showed the response from SN when I asked him, and he said he wasn't going to reply. So waiting for a reply was not an option, THERE WASN'T GOING TO BE ONE

I think across the site it would be a no. Given the age of most, they would be too young to donate through something like justgiving.

It doesn't have to be just giving but i see where you a coming from. I just thought it would be nice for the whole of daily to come together for one month, and do something which actually affects the outside world, away from the computer

It's a no from me for a whole raft of reasons from "I already do many things for charity" to "This would never work" and many things inbetween.
If you are keen to do some charity work organise something through school. You'll get a much bigger response and a much more suportive one. You'd also be able to target more people, like other parents, and increase the chances of making a genuine sum of money to donate. Or if school doesn't appeal i am certain you could do something with help from an actual charity in you community.
I've lost count of the number of small, medium and large scale charity events i've taken part in! Very very easy to do with physical people you can actually see and touch, very very tricky to do with people you cannot see or touch. If you really want to do a charity event because you want to raise money for a cause many people will be keen to help out.

Well, I think this idea is gone, nice to see that that £1 you could donate is more important to you than that starving child in africa. If this whole website was included, and every person donated £1 then we could make around £20,000. But if you guys are like this, which I probably should have known you were, fine. e will just leave it

Ehm, What? I would send them my breakfest, but i am afraid it would not get there in very good state.
For helping children of Africa, there is already like million of charities and stuff, that will be always more trustful than something organised on internet forum and you know that you are not paying to local militia in the end. It is everybodys choice if he will support one of these or not, i hope some of us (who earn some money) already did some charity donations and even iof not, who are you to judge them? People cant care about everything happening on the other side of the world and whoever decides to not care about it is not automatically someone to blame.
Also there are more loccal charities in every state i believe, like something that TMM mentioned. I for example send clothes i dont use anymore every year to Red Cross and i amn sure they will get to people that need it, because it is trustful organisation (most of the time).
