Continental Championships
We can work on these already. There might be some problems where I need to cut teams because we can only have 24 participants. You'll always be able to ride on your home continent though. We'll see.
Post your line ups of the Continental Championships here (no need for secrecy). Remember these don't count for race days. For the time trials, you can select up to 3 riders, for the road race up to 8.
Last year we had Europe, this time we go to Australia, using the 2010 World Championships in Geelong course. The 3 races will be Europe, America (both north and south) and Aufrasia (Australia+Africa+Asia).
Please use the following form for your team and add nation flags:

Upgrade rules
For this round of updates, I’m trying to address 3 concerns you have given me in the offseason. First, I want to get some more balance rather than focusing on 2/3 stats. Second, I want to give younger riders more chances to progress, as it was going a bit too slow if you have many. Third, it’s time for custom riders to go over 80 on a stat if they want to.
I will be reintroducing “support stat package” of +1 to Flat, Acceleration, Stamina and Recovery. It can only be used once on a rider because it’s kinda good. But here’s the catch: for custom riders, you can only use it if all your stats are 60 or above, if not, you will not be able to buy this upgrade!
Highest stat means highest of those 4 stats involved.
Support stat package | | | | | Custom riders | highest stat max 70 | highest stat max 75 | highest stat max 79 | highest stat 80 or above | 18 | 100 | 150 | 220 | not eligible | 19 | 110 | 160 | 240 | not eligible | 20 | 120 | 170 | 260 | not eligible | 21 | 130 | 180 | 280 | not eligible | 22 | 140 | 190 | 300 | not eligible | 23 | 150 | 210 | 320 | not eligible | 24 | 160 | 220 | 340 | not eligible | | | | | | Real riders | highest stat max 70 | highest stat max 75 | highest stat max 79 | highest stat 80 or above | 18-20 | 100 | 130 | 200 | not eligible | 21-23 | 140 | 160 | 250 | not eligible | 24-26 | 200 | 220 | 300 | not eligible | 27-34 | 300 | 300 | 400 | not eligible | 35+ (Basso-Evans-rule) | 120 | 150 | 220 | not eligible |
For young real riders, the natural progress will be increased to 4 stats age 18-20, 2 stat age 21-23 and 1 stat 24-26. Furthermore, for the youngest riders, you can already upgrade one stat during each season break. Remember, natural progress only works on stats you haven’t upgraded before and once a rider reaches 80 on a stat, he's no longer available for any natural progress.
Last of all, increasing a stat from 80 to 81 for custom riders should now be possible. Anything higher than that will be nearly impossible though.
Like last time, you can only upgrade the same stat twice on a rider, but I’m making an exception if it’s below 60 so everyone can try to catch up a bit. For custom riders you need to be at 60 or above for all stats if you want to use the support stat package.
Normal stat update | | | | | | | Custom riders | current stat max 59 | current stat max 69 | current stat max 74 | current stat max 79 | current stat 80 | Current stat 80+ | 18 | 10 | current stat | current stat | current stat + 100 | min 350 + uses all | not eligible | 19 | 10 | current stat | current stat +20 | current stat + 120 | min 350 + uses all | not eligible | 20 | 10 | current stat +10 | current stat +40 | current stat + 140 | min 350 + uses all | not eligible | 21 | 10 | current stat +10 | current stat +60 | current stat + 160 | min 350 + uses all | not eligible | 22 | 10 | current stat +20 | current stat +80 | current stat + 180 | min 350 + uses all | not eligible | 23 | 10 | current stat +30 | current stat +100 | current stat + 200 | min 350 + uses all | not eligible | 24 | 10 | current stat +40 | current stat +120 | current stat + 220 | min 350 + uses all | not eligible | | | | | | | | Real riders | current stat max 59 | current stat max 69 | current stat max 74 | current stat max 79 | current stat 80 | Current stat 80+ | 18-20 | 20 | current stat | current stat +20 | current stat +100 | min 500 + uses all | min 700 + uses all | 21-23 | 40 | current stat +10 | current stat +40 | current stat +200 | min 500 + uses all | min 700 + uses all | 24-26 | 60 | current stat +20 | current stat +80 | current stat +300 | min 500 + uses all | min 700 + uses all | 27+ | 80 | current stat +40 | current stat +100 | current stat +400 | min 500 + uses all | min 700 + uses all |
Use this form to upgrade:
Name: Farrokh Bulsara
Team: La Pomme
Age: 21
Upgrade: Sprint 77=>78
Points spent: 278
And as always, since I’m totally evil and like giving punishments, any mistake will result in a punishment, including loss of upgrade points! So ask questions until everything is perfectly clear!
Anyway, here are the points. As usual, it is a matter of personal taste that gives you 10 points less or more, but do send me a PM if you think I'm way off so we can look at it together.
For the riders, it's a tie between the great writings from the Calzone, and the extremely amusing adventures of Lord Richard Plant. A lot of riders scored high, some good stuff I read this season part.

.
For the teams, there were several criteria. Movistar was the best with the goals, achieving 4/6 including both hard goals. HQ it was a tough call between Euskaltel and Cannondale, but the Basque series gave the advantage to Euskaltel. Nationality I gave full points to Euskaltel, Drapac and FDJ for their great team selection, with honourable mentions to Europcar, MTN and Caja Rural. And well money, big savers were Vacansoleil and Lampre. Somehow all of that put together places BMC on top, I need a better system

Almost forgot, I missed GP Kanton Aargau when making up the first draft of the calendar, it's a .HC race as well now. Would people be in favour or against including it?
I'm even up for trying an experiment and making it a CT-only race.

When this season part finishes. Which, at current Australian pace, could be August. No real rush.
