Hello there everyone
Since the Formula 1 season in real life has started, I'm going to bring a version for PCM.Daily. The game is sort of based upon activity but that is not entirely the case.
I would say that the rules are fairly simple, so everybody will have the ability to join. Here goes:
1)
There are 10 teams (as in real life more or less) and every team consists of two riders. When signing up one can chose a team but if you don't know who to pick, I will just randomly sign you up for teams. The teams available are of course the only valid options.
2)
When we have 20 signed up for this, I will create a new thread in which all "the racing" is done. I will write: "Race XXX has started" and thereafter it is up to the drivers, to write in the same thread "finish". It is allowed to write a longer message with but the word "finish" has to be within. The fastest to write "finish" wins the race, the second gets the second place and so on.
3)
A race lasts 24 hours. If you do not finish within these 24 hours, you will get a "did not finish". If everybody finishes within these 24 hours, a new race is likely to be started.
4)
After each race, I post a conclusion to todays race. In this, the results of the newly finished race will be written, as will the general standings. There will also be a constructors' championship.
5)
If 5 "did not finish" races are attained or 3 in a row, you will get sacked from your current team and a new user may take your seat for the team.
6)
If your "finish" post is edited, the edited time stands as the time, you finished the race.
7)
If people finish within the same minute, the post that appears as posted first wins.
8)
There might be night races (GMT +1 night time  ).
The pointssystem is as follows (just like the Formula 1 IRL)
1. 25 points
2. 18 points
3. 15 points
4. 12 points
5. 10 points
6. 8 points
7. 6 points
8. 4 points
9. 2 points
10. 1 point
IMPORTANT: If you can't finish inside the points, it is still important to write "finish". Otherwise you will get a "did not finish". (Rule #5).
If there is a tie in the general standings at the end of the season, the positions will be determined by most 1st places and if that is also tie, most 2nd places etc.

Sounds like a nice idea. Hopefully there can be a full field of active members to make this good.

So the "game" part of this game is posting 'finish' as soon as possible after you start the race... Gotta say that is not appealing to me because that's not a game, that's just pot-luck as to who's online at the time. If you live outside a European timezone you are screwed judging by your normal post times.
Just seems like there isn't anything to the "game" and that the winners are randomly selected by who is online at the time which doesn't seem particularly fun to me.

I gotta admit that is a very valid point you are making.
However, I will try my best to start the races at times, where it will be possible for most contenders to be online. Of course I can't make it perfect for everybody involved but I will try my best to.
Would calling it a "play" make it more accurate?

Nice! In past I have had fun "playing" it, so should also be fun as well for participants.

Nope that is a solid point he made.
However I have had fun playing it before and I'm sure people will have to. I will try to make the races start at time which suits most people participating.

Look what we've got here...
Another F1 league, but yet so different. I will not take part, because I am not a fan of these "first one wins" games, but I wish you the best of luck with your project. Lets see what you can make with this project. Will be exciting to see.
