I am struggling a bit getting some results with a weak team.
It is easy to win mountain or hilly stages with froom as nobody can keep up.
However, I can't seem to find a working way to win with a weaker team/rider, specially on a harder difficulty.
I just lost my top 3 rank in the final ime trial of Paris-Nice with Kangert. I was placed 2nd befor the final TT and ended up as 5th in GC.
I've got it worked out to stay with the leaders and kepp up with them riding defensivley.
However, I can't seem to find a way to play some stages more agressively to make up time I have lost on TTTs (or ITT's as well).
Tried to ride all out with my team to tire out the peloton, but that usually backfired as it only tired out my riders.
Is there any tips you guys could give me? Was also browsing trough youtube to find some good examples that I could implement myself but no luck so far...
Specially on the hilly stages I could use some help.
Interesting question that I would like to see some experts comment on. It might simply just be hard, just as in real life, for lesser teams to do well in bigger races. That's also how it should be, even if the chance for a surprise should also be present.
I think the real tactic, is to just follow, they are the big teams, they have to work. On hilly stages follow other riders into the final hill and attack near the top, or. if it's a flat finish, attack on the descent. Gaps are way bigger than they should be, so you just need to get away with a small gap.
