This is a football World Cup game. Using the 2014 Fifa World Cup Game, I will simulate a world cup, where members get to manage a team.
Each player gets one country (or we might open it for two if we need numbers). At the start of the game they will be pmed a list of player average attributes and positions for available players for their country. You must select 23 players, including at least 11 players with an average attribute of 79- (inclusive).
Each player has a set number of matches of which they are available to play, for example, Van Persie, who is rated 90 might only be allowed to play 3 games (this is dependent on number of teams), while a player who is rated 74 would be allowed to play all of the games. Goalie's are allowed a maximum of 2 less games then the total in the tournament and do not fit in with these rules.
Once we begin the game, each team will be submitted a list of their players and a recommended formation, which doesn't take match days into account, this is their starting formation. They can edit this however they like, as long as they have a correct number of players and subs.
Each week that you are still in the tournament you will be sent a pm about management, with a list of available and unavailable (too many game days, injury, suspension players, as well as your current formation you may edit your squad how ever you like, if a player is inactive, unavailable players will be replaced by the worst player available.
Each match will be simulated using Fifa's function on The Fifa World Cup 2014 Brazil Game, which means you will be provided with the minute of injuries, fouls, cards and goals. The finals and semi-finals will be played out by the computers as a real match, so the reports will be more in-depth for them. Substitutions will be decided by the computer and it only counts
Tournament Format/Numbers
The tournament will be run based on the number of teams, a group stage is being run as in the world cup, round robin, 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw) Optimally we will get 8, 16 or 32 teams (with 32 being the best) I will add an extra team controlled by me if needed.
Spoiler 6 teams is two group stages of 3 teams, where the first in each play a final.
If we get 8 there will be a tournament,
9 three group stages with three teams each, then a group stage for the finalists.
10 we have 2 group stages of 5, 2 go through from each and we have a tournament.
12 will have four groups of 3, with 2 teams qualifying from each, then we will have a tournament.
15 will have 3 groups of 5 and then a final group stage with a group stage of 3 at the end.
16 we will have a tournament.
18 we have a group stage with 6 teams of 3, the first 2 go through, then we follow the rules of 12.
20 we have 4 group stages of 5 and 2 go through from each, then a tournament.
24 we have a tournament stage then the rules of 12.
27 will have 9 groups of 3 with one qualifying from each, then the rules of 9.
30 will have 6 groups 5 with 2 qualifying from each. Then it will have the rules of 12.
32 is a normal world cup, 8 groups of 4, 2 qualify from each. then it will have a tournament with the remaining 16.
I will release all the details of the format and the draw once signups are complete.
How much time will this take?
You could this in 15-20 mins every 4-5 days, minimum. and any amount of time maximum, just remember that the best teams take more time.
Sign-Ups are completed using this form:

NO ALL WHITES? WHY NOT?
Username: jandal
Country: Chile (NZ if becomes available)
Justification: I am a huge football fan and am ok at manager games. New Zealand should be in here because of their promising young stars, Winston Reid who has been linked to every British club including Arsenal, Liverpool, Man U and the like. Chris Wood plays for Leicster, Marco Rojas plays for Stuggart, Ivan Vicelich is the third best player in the world (according to FIFA) though he is retired, Auckland City are the third best club in the world, Kosta Barbarouses, Shane Smeltz, the list goes on.
Back-up to NZ: Chile (Netherlands if NZ and Chile aren't available.
Tournament location: Australia-New Zealand co-hosts.
Great idea trek!

I'll think about NZ but likely give you Chile, my main problem being that NZ is a little underrated in the game due to a bad world cup qualifying season, although I'll check them again to justify my decision, but Chile is yours (unless some Chilean member comes along in the next hour or so.

Nah, I added all the countries that qualified then went through the team stats on the game and took out any teams that were too good but added all the teams that were pretty good and could have made it (better than the worst teams).

Australia
Justification: Well, I'm Australian. I play a lot of FIFA and FM and am a but of a tactics nut in real life. In my football team, my nickname is "coach"
EDIT: I agree with Jandal, Australia-New Zealand co-hosting, but only if the final is in Sydney

Country: Cape Verde Islands
Justification: Cape Verde are one of the up and coming teams in world football, being the smallest country ever to qualify for the African Cup of Nations in 2013 after beating the 'mighty' Cameroon to qualify. They repeated the feat in 2015. Personally, I play a lot of FM.
Backup country: Czech Republic
Host location: Euro 2020 style hosting, spread across Europe.

Well I'm reasonably sure we won't have any members from Cote d'Ivore come along, so you've got them.
4 members, we need at leas 6 to start but hopefully we'll get a lot more.
EDIT: Zabl'd-WeirdskyFan, I'll put you down the same as Jandal and see if Cape Verde is good enough later. Good idea with the location though.
5 teams in!

Cool, you've got Cote d'Ivore so you don't need a back-up, but I like the location idea.
For the host country(s) I'll pick out my favourite 4-6 bids and we will have a vote between them when sign-ups close.

Cool, a bid to host it can be as detailed as you like, it might win you some extra votes and it'll add a good atmosphere to the tournament-wherever it is.
