Cofidis are in the Pro Continental Tour division hoping to gain promotion to the World Tour next season. The team are under new management for season 2 after the manager for season 1 had to withdraw due to financial irregularities.
The team has a French sponsor and rides on a French license so the majority of riders will be French. However our sponsor operates throughout Europe so we welcome riders from Europe as well as further afield.
Sponsor Info
Cofidis is a French company, one of the Otto Group's financial services providers.
Founded in 1982 Cofidis specialises in the consumer credit business. Its business concept of offering customized consumer loans either by phone or over the Internet has been exported to other countries - Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Czech Republic, Greece and Hungary

Interview with Hercule Poulet
Troubled PCT cycling team Cofidis Pro Cycling have taken a brave step and hired an unknown as directeur sportif. So Veloscribblers thought we would find out a bit more about Hercule Poulet.
You are not known in cycling circles, what is your background?
I have run several successful businesses and am looking for a new challenge. I intend to apply my experiences from the retail business to the cycling business.
So what experience do you have of running a cycling team?
My experience is fairly limited, I am anticipating a steep learning curve, to make mistakes and learn from them. I did say I wanted a challenge. To bridge the gap I intend to listen to my team and riders for advice.
In that case how did you persuade the Cofidis directors to give you the job?
After last season's difficulties there wasn't a long list of candidates and the directors were looking for someone willing to commit for the long term. Having my tax affairs in order helped too.
I understand your sons ride, are they likely to join the pro ranks?
They do have ambitions to ride in the pro-peloton but they are not quite ready to make the jump so will remain in the amateur ranks for now.
So what are your objectives for this season?
Basically get the right number of riders at the right races and not get sacked. But more seriously we need to prove this team is a good place for rising talent.
Tell us how you view the current squad?
We have a solid but aging squad so we really need some young riders to look to the future.
Stage Racers
We have solid riders in Jérôme Coppel and Rein Taaramäe, however if we have ambitions to make it into the World Tour we need to attract a 'future great' to the team who would receive good support from Jerome. Rein has said he might look elsewhere if another stage racer joined the team.
Climbers
Dani Navarro is an attack minded climber. It would be good to allow him more of a free role if we can get a GC contender on the team.
Puncheurs
The team has 3 good riders but no stand out performer so a talented hills specialist would be a great addition to the team.
Time Trial
A big gap here. A rider with a big engine for the time trials and who could help with our sprint train on the flat has to be a priority.
Sprinters
Adrien Petit is a developing talent , he would make a top class leadout for a world class sprinter.
Cobblers
Not a focus for Cofidis.
Editors Note - following this interview Mr Poulet was persuaded to focus more on cobbles by a plea from Adrien Petit
Fighters
Cofidis has an abundance of attacking riders and we will be hoping to get something out of the breakaways next season.
How would the current riders react to some young guns joining the team?
I have discussed the situation with our experienced riders and they understand that for the team to progress we need some young talent. The guys have agreed if we can attract the right riders they will ride in support.
Thanks for taking the time for this interview and good luck for the coming season.
You're welcome and I will need all the luck I can get.

PART 1
The team had a number of second places but have not managed that elusive win yet.
The highlight of Part 1 was definitely Criterium International where Jérôme Coppel was on top form to get 3rd place in GC. Great support from Dani Navarro (7th) and Franco Pellizotti (15th) meant we pipped Belkin to the Team award.

I am very pleased to announce that young cobbles rider Charlie Charneux has signed to Cofidis for next year.
Adrien and Jan have persuaded me that Cofidis should focus more on cobbles so their training will be geared more towards the pave.
Charlie will be a great addition to the team and we hope he will find his stay at Cofidis rewarding.

Should be a good signing for you. Charneaux fits the team well, and I think he made a good choice.

Thanks, I am not expecting to challenge for promotion so Charlie will be able to develop and we will be free to give him opportunities he might not get in 'bigger' teams.

I'm looking forward to battling with a fellow French team in the PCT. I wish you luck but also a warning that FDJ will be the top PCT French team in 2014 and that you better stay away from our transfer targets!
