I had an idea to start the story for a some time in my head. And I found it easier to make just one rider story so it's here now!
I have to say that I am enjoying to read the story by the_hoyle - In The Pursuit Of Glory and Il Bimbo d'bronzo by Re Leone (this one influenced me too much, I added Nicholas Arcier into my game Embarassed ). So then, I hope you will enjoy that one.

Intro

Date of birth: May 19 1992
Place of birth: Como, Lombardy, Italy
Nationality: Luxembourg

Since I was born I spent most of my time near to the bicycles. My father was an amateur cyclist and my mother comes from cycling family. One day my dad had an awful injury during his training ride and he was in hospital for a couple of days...

Then he gave up his dream to be an professional and set up a bicycle shop in a small village in Lombardy, near to the place where my mother's family live. So I was still chasing him around the shop and helping him repair bikes. He sit me on the bike when I was 2 years old for the time and after that I was trying it day by day. He found out my passion and tried to help me in all ways. As I was growing up I started exploring mountains which was really close to our home. That feeling to be on the top of the mountain and then going down really fast...I fell in love with cycling very easily!

After some good results in amateur Italian races my father helped me to get invited by Leopard Development Team to do some tests last year and it was a great day in my life. So since 2014 I'm part of this squad and I hope I can show my great potential to the cycling world and fullfil my dream to be next Luxembourg GC contender after the Schlecks!

Training Camp
I didn't get too much time to figure out that I'm one step closer to become professional cyclist and now we are going to Spain for a training camp with my new team and what's better there will also be riders from Trek Factory Racing. It will be great experience for me!

Training Camp - Training Ride
It was awesome to be on a bike after winter again! I really enjoyed riding the bicycle outside after spending hours on it in my room, with the eyes still looking to the same point on the wall...

i1288.photobucket.com/albums/b481/Ondra_Hudec/PCM0002_zps24e3a74d.jpg

The weather was great too, so nothing was against us. After some kilometres on a flat road we headed hills, and in the second climb of the day I tried to increase the tempo and I stay only with the best climbers from TFR!
But during the last climb I started to feel a pain and I lost contact with them...

i1288.photobucket.com/albums/b481/Ondra_Hudec/PCM0004_zps86481493.jpg

Anyway, it was great day on the bike and I'm quite satisfied.

I know it doesn't sound too much Luxembourgish, but as you can read his mother comes from Italy, so there is the point Smile

i1288.photobucket.com/albums/b481/Ondra_Hudec/profile_zps2410c4db.jpg

The February 2 was the date for my first race as Trek Development Team rider. The profile looks quite good to test myself against some great cyclists like Michael Albasini or German veteran Jens Voigt. I wanted to fight for the victory, but it was really hard race!
It took a while to making a breakaway of the day, so from the start the tempo was really high, and it was still up and down. After 40 kms the breakaway has been made and tempo was ok.

i1288.photobucket.com/albums/b481/Ondra_Hudec/sittinginpeloton_zps4239398e.jpg

P. Schlechter was taking care of me well!

As the race was going closer to the finish line, it started to be very nervous and tempo was higher again. 30 kms before the finish Simon Clarke was the frist one who tried an attack. After a few kilometres he had an advantage about 30'' to the bunch and more attacks were coming from Pirazzi, Vuillermoz, Kolobnev and Rubiano.
Giant and FDJ started to make high tempo and as I was alone in that time, I had to fight very hard to keep my position in front of the pack!
20 kms to go and Simon Clarke with 50'' followed by Pirazzi, Vuillermoz, Kolobnev and Rubiano.
On the last hill Voigt with Barguil tried to make some good move and I joined them to be involved in action! But FDJ was keeping the high tempo and on the peak we were all together, I tried to attack once more cause I'm feeling good during fast ride down, but I was catch 4 kms before finish and it was going for a bunch finish.
It was won by Albasini and as I was exhausted by my attack I came 22nd.

Tour Méditerranéen
The first three stages were build for the sprinters so for me it was just about to not being involved in some collision and staying safe in the pack without loosing any time!
My goal was the last two stages - a bit hilly ITT and the last stage finishing on Mont Faron!

Stage 4 - ITT

i1288.photobucket.com/albums/b481/Ondra_Hudec/itt_zps5bcbdded.jpg

Stage 5

i1288.photobucket.com/albums/b481/Ondra_Hudec/faron_zpsd740b0e7.jpg

So as I said before the first three stages suited sprinters well with their profile and it looked like that!
Anyway in Stage 1 sprinters' teams was maybe a little bit surprised by one-man attack and they weren't able to make it for the bunch sprint finish and it's been won by Marcos Garcia (Caja Rural) with 1'19'' advantage on the pack. I came safely in the pack without any problems!

In the 2nd stage Trek Factory Racing made a hard day for everyone and they didn't want to let some of the breakaway riders win the stage again. Anyway Nizzolo wasn't able to make some good result in the finish and the stage was won by Heinrich Haussler beating Tom Boonen on the line!

Stage 3 had just 63 kms so it looked like an easy one. Despite its length it was very hard with the high tempo and big wind. Again it was the sprint of the whole pack and finally Giacomo Nizzolo won the stage for TFR, with Coquard came 2nd and Tom Boonen 3rd!

i1288.photobucket.com/albums/b481/Ondra_Hudec/nizzolowins_zps9e33caaf.jpg

Stage 4 - ITT

I was a bit worried about this stage cause it was my first time trial in the race ever! Before the stage I was sitting 34th in overall.

i1288.photobucket.com/albums/b481/Ondra_Hudec/tt_start_zps4ca03512.jpg

On the start!

I was felling quite good in the morning and another plus for me was that the profile wasn't just a flat pan.
In the first intermediate I was just 19'' behind Chris Horner who was in lead here.

i1288.photobucket.com/albums/b481/Ondra_Hudec/tt_intermediate_zpse7422e38.jpg

During the 2nd part of the time trial I was trying to go as fast as I can and my pace looked great according to sports director and this info gave me some extra power.
And when I crossed the line my time looked great! Only 36'' lost on Horner at the timing!
After the full list of riders crossed the finish line I found out that I lost only 6'' to Froomey! Great day!

Stage 5

After yesterday's stage I feel really good and I'm very motivated to be in the front with the best ones! And I was in the white jersey!
So as the stage started I was in front along with Chris Horner.

i1288.photobucket.com/albums/b481/Ondra_Hudec/laststagewithhorner_zpsa2ec18c5.jpg

As I said my motivation was high so my DS had to calm me down and told not to be too much in the front to keep myself away from the wind.
Lampre let 11 riders went to the breakaway and keep the tempo OK. On the other hand Caja Rural, with Marcos Garcia sitting on the 2nd in GC, wasn't okay with that and made tempo a bit higher and gave breakaway riders 4'00'' advantage max.
As the finish was with closer the tempo was higher by Caja Rural and we were going up to the 2nd category climb with its top 13 kms from the finish!
Near to the top the first moves started - Gorka Izagirre (Movistar) and the world champion Rui Costa (Lampre) put themselves in the front, but I was there also and I came with them with Warren Barguil following me!

i1288.photobucket.com/albums/b481/Ondra_Hudec/downhillattack_zps06d5adac.jpg

Downhill with Costa, Izagirre and Barguil

Just a few kilometres to go, just one climb to the finish! On the start on Mont Faron we had 40'' advantage to the next group with a lot of strong riders like Froome or Valverde.
Costa and Izagirre tried an attack right as the climb started and I didn't respond. I choose to go with a constant tempo and tried to minimalise my loss to them. After a while I saw Warren Barguil just before me and I accelerated to go around him. From DS I got an info about the situation and I found out that Chris Froome is going from the back really fast.

i1288.photobucket.com/albums/b481/Ondra_Hudec/afterfroome_zps1421233b.jpg

Froome lets me behind him really easily...

About 1,5 km from the finish Costa attacked once more and went for a solo victory in his rainbow jersey, Izagirre came 2nd,Froome 3rd and then it was me who crossed the finish line! Another great day here in France!

Hi all, after some time I have the race in plan again, but what a shame I started feel badly a few days before Classic Sud Ardeche and I visited my doctor.

thumbs.dreamstime.com/x/female-doctor-22929877.jpg

She advised me to take some rest from racing so I had to skip this race. So after that my next race will be Ster van Zwolle, which is held on 8/3 and then Rabobank Dorpenomloop Rucphen a day after. So I will visit the Netherlands for two races and then my next preapration will be heading towards 7-day-long Tour de Bretagne, which is on program at then end of April.

Ster van Zwolle
i1288.photobucket.com/albums/b481/Ondra_Hudec/profile_zps8a1178b9.jpg

As you can see the profile of the stage it was nothing for me, but I needed to be involved in racing after my illness again! I was there just to get back into the tempo, our leader for this race was our best sprinter Dennis Coenen and we all had to work for him.

As it was my first race after some week off, I wanted to take it easy, just sit safely in the pack and be in racing tempo.
Since the race began it was really hard, with the big wind and high tempo, it took me a lot of energy. I wasn't felling very good, I feel pain i my legs after a few kms... In these hard condition just only a few riders wanted to be in front of the pack - so finally there was only 1 rider alone.

i1288.photobucket.com/albums/b481/Ondra_Hudec/PCM0005_zps0f494eaf.jpg

R. Venneman from Josan in the break.

As the pack was working hard, we caught him up 50 kilometres before the finish and a lot of riders tried another attacks, but they were controlled. Anyway in the last 5 kms M. Pedersen (Cult Energy) tried to surprise sprinters' teams with the late attack!

i1288.photobucket.com/albums/b481/Ondra_Hudec/PCM0007_zps7f7ea691.jpg

M. Pedersen under Flame Rouge!

And it looked like he is going for victory, anyway the pack was coming really fast! ...but, finally he did it and won the race just by the wheel ahead of my teammate Dennis Coenen... I came safely to the finish without any problems.

Rabobank Dorpenomloop Rucphen
i1288.photobucket.com/albums/b481/Ondra_Hudec/profil_zps2746fd35.jpg

Another one-day race in the Netherlands for me. Again it was a flat pan for the sprinters and I wanted to finish it without any problems once again. We had in our roster Dennis Coenen, so after race in Zwolle we wanted to be in the first places once again.

The race started easier than yesterday and the conditions were also better. The two riders went to the breakaway right after the start and in the pack they had no problems with it. I found myself feeling much more better than yesterday so I went to the attack to test my condition.

i1288.photobucket.com/albums/b481/Ondra_Hudec/PCM0001_zps73076a42.jpg

After a while I catch the breakaway riders and we started working together and the pack gave us advantage about 7 minutes.

i1288.photobucket.com/albums/b481/Ondra_Hudec/PCM0002_zps67b1a9ce.jpg

Our sprinter Dennis Coenen had a bad fall about 60 kms to go and he had to abandon the race, so suddenly we were without our ace for the final sprint... The pack slowly started to putting our advantage down, but with 30 kms to go we still had more than 4' lead and it started looking quite good for us!
When we pass the mark of 20 kms to the finish line I standed up in the saddle and tried to attack.

i1288.photobucket.com/albums/b481/Ondra_Hudec/PCM0003_zps5f1824af.jpg

Unfortunately, it was unsuccessful one and right after my attack Konstantin Klimiankou went on his own and went solo, because we both were without reaction on his action... He came for a solo win and I won the sprint for the 2nd place against Joren Touquet and the pack came right after us so it was very close!

@hoyle: thanks! hope it will be continuing through the season Smile

After these two one-day races in Holland I came back home to Italy to visit my family and take some rest. I will be training here in Italy in mountains nearly for a month because there are a lot of cobble races in the team calendar now and I don't want to risk some injury here.
I will be back in racing on 15/4 and 17/4 at Paris – Camembert Lepetit and GP Denain Porte du Hainaut.
But don't worry I will show you some photos from my training in Lombardy!

Thank you Andy for everything!

I'm enjoying great time here! I'm going on training rides around the Lake Como and I also tried some hills notoriously known from Il Lombardia race such as Valico di Valcava or Villa Vergano (the last one on the course, it's the place where Purito made his victories in last two seasons).

i1288.photobucket.com/albums/b481/Ondra_Hudec/PCM0014_zpsdb87836f.jpg

Anyway, the time is going really fast there so I will be soon back in racing in France! Stay tuned!
