I began cycling at the age of 9 years old. I enjoyed it a lot so I joined my local club, Puente Tocinos. I started racing in the youngest category and immediately I knew I had talent. In my first race I came in 2nd place. I had my 2nd race in Yecla and I won! It was a great moment for me, and from then on I won most races. My mother actually rewarded me for letting other people win, because she didn't want me to take all of the wins.
When I was 11 I was racing with people older than me, and I still won almost all the time. For 2 years I won every single race I took part in, and began to grow a reputation all around my area. People began calling me "The Unbeaten" because I wouldn't ever lose. I had great success on the Track too, and soon one of the biggest Spanish Cycling teams in the world wanted me to race for them.
Banesto gave me a tryout and soon I was riding with their development team every weekend. Unfortunately the team was based in Navarra far away from my home so I couldn't get the best results at the lower level as I had to travel out to the races every week. We both agreed it wasn't working so I moved to the Kelme development team who were a lot more local for me, and I won my first race with them. I felt a lot better with this team and they have given me the opportunity to ride for the Pro Team this upcoming season at the age of 21 because of my good results with the Development team. I look forward to it very much, and I hope I can continue to grow as a rider with this team. I know there are many great riders on this team and I have to earn a place on the team, so I look forward to working with riders like Botero and Sevilla.
Spoiler
I know this is about a rider many of you will dislike. Im not telling you that you have to like him in real life, but I hope I can bring an interesting story that is fun to follow. This is really the only idea I've had this year that has inspired me to write a story and I think the update style should support the way I like to do things. I am very aware of the doping allegations within Kelme and I will simply write this story as if this doesn't happen, same as any other doping allegations that happen later on in Valverde's real career.
N/A
Basically I will play each season on the corresponding DB. For 2002 there is a database for PCM 12 so the 2002 season will be played on PCM 12. The story will then move on to 2003 and I will play that season (most likely, may change) on PCM 10 as there is a 2003 DB for that game, and so on and so forth.
The update style will probably see me get thru seasons rather quickly, so I do expect to need PCM 14 in a month or two's time, or atleast I plan for it to be that way. I hope this will be a unique story and most importantly I hope it is enjoyable. Inspirations include, Karl Hammarling, Il Bimbo d'bronzo, aCross the Road, NRS and probably others. The only thing I see myself as directly copying is the layout with the quote boxes from NRS by tsmoha, who is always an innovator for PCM story layouts.

@ Jseadog - Thanks a lot. I hope this goes well.
@ admir - Thanks, I wanted to bring something a little different but not too different. I like it too. I do enjoy playing the historical DB's but its hard to play long careers with them normally because I think its weird not seeing people on the right teams and young riders and stuff like that

@ Timo Thanks a lot Timo. Glad you will follow despite not liking him irl.
@Mre Thank you. Hopefully pretty close as it will be based on the stats given to him from db makers each year
@the hoyle Thanks
@jihardy Glad you like it so far!
@sutty Glad to always have you around here as a follower!
Hello everyone and welcome to my first post here! My season has been jam packed with action and I have obviously underestimated just how much time I would need to keep all my fans up to date with my latest news, races and so on. Even when Im not at a race, I have been very busy training, so my "time off" is hardly "time off". I can tell you that I have found the transition into Pro Cycling very easy and I feel at home with my team and get along well with all of the managers!
But enough about that, you probably want to hear about my races! I didn't race at all in January but enjoyed my time at the teams training camp near my home, which meant I could see my family just that little bit longer before I head out on the road to my first races. My first race was the Vuelta a Mallorca in February. I rode well for my teammate Vicioso and enjoyed my time, and took it as a learning experience. I felt strong but I didn't want to say or do anything too drastic on basically my first "day" on the job. Next we moved to the Vuelta a Murcia. It was a 2 day stage race and on the first day I felt in great shape on the mountain and managed to stay in the leaders group all the way up putting me in 5th position going into the TT on the final day. I lost time there but took 6th overall which was my best result yet. I was very proud of my performance and glad that I could bring a good result for the team although my teammate Cabello did finish in 4th overall ahead of me.
After that great performance I was given almost a month off as I didn't race again until another 2 day stage race in April called the Vuelta a Madrid. Similar to the last one, this one also had a mountain stage. I climbed well and took 6th overall there but it was weaker competition this time so it was a lot easier and honestly I didn't feel my legs were very strong. But I was building up to the Volta a Catalunya which was one of my mid-season goals. On stage 1 I attacked...
Unfortunately I didn't win, but I softened the peloton for my teammate Ivan Parra who took 2nd on the stage. I took 5th place. But after that great day I fell back on almost every day. I found the consecutive mountain stages tough and was near the very back of the GC by the end of the race. Still I learned a lot and I saw great riders like Lance Armstrong and Tyler Hamilton ride.
Around this time the seasons first Grand Tour of the year wrapped up, the Giro d'Italia and my teammate Santiago Botero dominated the race, taking the Maglia Rosa. What a huge boost of morale for the team too! The final podium was: Santiago Botero, Aitor Silloniz, David De la Fuente.
I had another week or two rest and moved over to France. No not for the Tour de France, that was a week later but I still experienced the passion of the french fans at the Route du Sud. I finished the race in 14th overall and would enjoy my next month off being able to watch the Tour de France at home!
The Tour de France this year was quite crazy! Lance Armstrong was going for 4 in a row but a huge breakaway foiled his plans of that. Included in the break was a teammate of mine and Giro d'Italia winner Santiago Botero. He moved all the way up to first place with 1 mountain stage to go and lost a fair amount of time. Still with the final TT, he pulled himself all the way back into 2nd overall and finished another Grand Tour on the podium. While it wasn't in his program before, he will now ride the Vuelta just in the hope that he can reach the podium there and write history. The final podium for the Tour de France was: Raimondas Rumsas, Santiago Botero, Aitor Sillonaiz
I was on the Preliminary squad for the Vuelta a Espana but after the GP San Sebastien, I was given a spot for sure! There I joined the winning move a group of 3 riders, Igor Astarloa, Marek Rutkiewicz and myself. With 2km to go, Astarloa tried a move but we brought him back. I opened up the sprint feeling confident but my compatriot Astarloa came around me and took the victory! I held on for 2nd place, my biggest ever result as a PT classic! I knew I was in good form for the Vuelta now...
...which pretty much brings you guys up to date with my season so far! I think I've done well so far and I will now be riding the Vuelta. I will have two team leaders to support, Oscar Sevilla and Santiago Botero who I hope can finish on the podium. The team hasn't pressured me into anything and the said it might be best if I abandon the Vuelta in the 2nd week so I dont harm my progression, but they are leaving the decision up to me.
I hope to be strong in the Vuelta and might even attack if I get the opportunity. I know for sure though, that I will try my best to keep you guys updated about the Vuelta my seasons biggest goal, a lot more frequently and I hope that you enjoy following along just as much as you do in my rookie season.
But now its off to La Vuelta

Nice that you have made the squad to the Vuelta, especially after your display in the GP San Sebastien
And your team mate Botero seems to be having a Classic season |

@ Steve - Thanks. I thought it would be different and I liked the idea myself because I always like to go back and play older games.
@ sutty - Thanks, he really did well there but Astarloa is probably going to be a long time foe of Alejandro's. Indeed. Both him and Sillonoiz have 2 GT podiums this year so far. Sillonoiz is more surprising since he's only got 72 Mountain.....
@ cunego - Likewise, its great to see you leave a comment! Nice to have a fan of him following along! Thanks!
@ luigi - Oooops. I've added that in now. Just something I overlooked. Rumsas won the Tour if you dont feel like scrolling up though

To be completely honest, I never was fan of quick updates that skips half of the season or even more, but that's just my expression, someone may like that. I really liked this update, simply because it's an amazing read and was so enjoyable. KIU!

Its a good thing PCM doesn't have the riders wives in this game

Dont worry. Most updates wont cover/skip through as much as this. The only reason I did is because 2002 doesn't really have any good dbs (only 40 teams, no races, most teams dont even have the correct gfxs) and because Valverde didn't really do much in this season in real life. Nothing significant anyway.
