For our new series "Cycling Interviews" we have the chance to ask André Greipel some questions.
Do I really have to present him? I guess everyone knows him here!
For more informations about his career so far: https://en.wikiped...A9_Greipel
So you have 1 week (until next Friday) to ask questions we will pick the best ones out, as every single question would be simply too much, and send them back.

Impressive
How difficult was the switch from being second-best sprinter on a team to being the leader in sprints?

Can you describe what went through your head after the 2011 Tour de France stage victory? Did it feel like a real vindication, having moved away from HTC to try to come out of Cavendish's shadow?

What was really going on back in the days on HTC-Highroad between you and Mark? Why did it escalate so much?

Very nice catch!
- In the last Gent-Wevelgem, you shouted "Fuck, Degenkolb" in the team car camera as he won after you crashed. Is there some kind of feud between you two or is it just good old German rivalry?
- Are there sprinters that ride too dangerous in your opinion?
- Some people say you need a sprint train to get good results, while other sprinters can do more on their own, would you agree with that statement?
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

You have been the Best German sprinter for a while now but there are a lot of talented younger riders who want your crown, so which one do you rate the highest ? |

despite the obvious Bouhanni?
- do you think, together with Kittel and Degenkolb, you can restore the faith that the german media has lost over the last few years

Do you do a lot of musculation on and off the bike, especially compared to other sprinters or to non-sprinters ? Do you also use electro-stimulation ? If yes how, when and how much ?
A few other sprinters manage to equate you, despite reputedly producing less power (namely : Cavendish, Bouhanni). That's mostly thanks to a lower and better position on the bike. Do you care much about the aerodynamics of your on bike position ? On the same note : have you ever done tests into a windtunnel with your normal road bike or is it really reserved for TT material and riders targeting TT ?
Would you say age has made you lose explosiveness and gain endurance or have you found a way to revert that process ?
Do you do notably more sprints than non sprinters while you train or is sprinting just a talent that's trained more or less equally between all types of pro riders ? |

Wow, to get Greipel is quite fantastic
What's on your mind when you're riding in the Grupetto on a mountain stage?
There is quite a supremacy in sprinting with you, Kittel & Degenkolb and some others, however Germany lacks GT riders. What's your take on this discrepancy? Is Germany more of a sprinter nation in general?
People believe that a big german sponsor would make the media interested again: If such a team were founded, would you be sure to join? What sponsor could you imagine to "pick up the torch" from T-Mobile & Gerolsteiner?
You had some bad luck in MSR this year: Was there ever a moment in the history with this race, where you thought: Hey, today I feel fantastic, nothing can go, I will win it for sure?
As a sprinter with a talent for the pavé, there are certainly right now a lot of riders such as you, Kristoff, Demare or Degenkolb who can win a spring classics in the sprint:
How much does this affect your racing & mind in such spring races to know you have the fastest legs after so many kilometers and hurting cobblestones? How can it be an advantage and disadvantage? Cancellara showed multiple times that sprinting doesn't necessarily come down to the obvious favourite in such a race and riders oftentimes don't want to work someone who will beat them for sure in a sprint for example.
With so impressively many stage wins in your career, how do you motivate yourself for smaller races to win them?
With le Tour coming up, would you prefer to win the Maillot Vert or to win the last stage on the Champs-Elysses?
You've come oftentimes close to winning the Vattenfall Cyclassics: As the only german one-day WT race, that is particularly suited to sprinters, is this the one-day race, besides Monuments, whom you want to win the most? Any explanation that it hasn't happened yet?

Are you confident about the Tour de France this year, do you think that you can win a stage against the likes of Kittel, Cav and Sagan? |

Back in the 2011 Tour Lotto clearly went for Philippe Gilbert to take the green jersey, he eventually ended up in 3th. Do you think you could have won the green jersey back then if Gilbert just went for the hilly stages, so that you could participate in the intermediate sprints?
