Critérium du Dauphiné
Riis123
All the content can be found here; http://www.steephill.tv/criterium-du-daup...ne-libere/ - full startlists, stages etc.

As I have stated in a thread I dont remember anymore, I love June. It's a month of so much tension - who will ride the Tour, who wont, who is in shape and who isnt, all the hype. This race is one of those races along with Tour de Suisse who provides us with most answers. This race is, as it has been the last couple of years, preferred by most of the GC-riders compared to Tour de Suisse, so we should definetely be in for some great riding.

The route consists of alot of very hilly terrain, only one ITT (10 km) and 3 mountain top finishes. Especially stage 7 look very promising. I expect Sky to dominate this stage, given the records on Madone recently posted on the internet by Froome and Porte.

Riders to challenge the Sky-duo for the win will be Contador, Nibali and Van Garderen. I dont expect any oh them to win (especially not Nibali, as he seems to only be in shape when it really counts). Behind them will riders such as Fuglsang, Bardet, Peraud, Kelderman, Talansky, Van den Broeck, Taramae, Navarro and Kwiatkowski probably challenge for top-5 and top-10, alltho they are capable of getting top-3 if everything goes well. That leaves riders such as Betancur, Mollema, Kreuziger, Rolland, Frank, Wiggins, Kennaugh, Pinot and the Shecleks with the Tour de Suisse in preparation for the Tour de France.

It starts sunday the 8th with a ITT and ends the next sunday, the 15th. If i was to make a top-10, it would look like this:

1. Froome.
2. Porte
3. Contador
4. Van Garderen
5. Talansky
6. Kwiatkowski
7. Fuglsang
8. Kelderman
9. Nibali
10. Bardet

Interesting things to note:
Stage 6 has a small ramp of 15% just 2km from the finish, coupled with two 4th cat climbs just before should make that an interesting stage.
Final climb of Stage 7 I personally haven't heard of before (probably because it's in Switzerland), but on closer inspection the last few hundred metres are at 28%. Shock

Yes, should be called Critérium du Dopinge.

I will probably skip watching Dauphiné to keep my sanity before Tour (where it will be destroyed by SKY train), but you guys should not overlook König, he is top10 material i would think. Wink

It's amazing how naive we are. SKY uses ecxactly the same method as US Postal did. And the way they do it, seems impossible to do if you're really clean.
Froome is not an elegant rider, he was just the first to say YES", when they asked who wanted to be the next grand tour champion..

@Stromeon: Pretty sure those 28% are a mistake, hardly 10% avg.

Tinkoff Saxo squad hardly mentionable, so I suspect Contador to take it lighty, test his form with intention of holding up to Froome. I guess the A-squad goes with Kreuziger to Switzerland.
SKY probably want to dominate after the win-less Giro d'Italia, but hoping that Nibali finally shows some decent form. Excited to get a glimpse of how Intxausti is in form, hopefully with some good signs for his Tour start. Smile

Hmm not sure where the officials got that from then. Even without that little bit, it's still a hard climb, especially when coupled with the Forclaz just before Smile

Anyway, on the racing there's just no way past Froome and Porte. Hopefully Suisse will be exciting, even if it definitely has the weaker startlist (as usual).

Those times were from last year. They were in Froomes auto biography, which is why they got attention this week.

All though I think Froome has said recently that they are in better shape compared to this time last year, so who knows maybe they would beat those records if they tried again.

Oh, that's the reason, lol. I am positive, tho, that they both are in great shape. Especially Porte who Froome mentioned to be in very good form

There's an accent missing on the final e of Dauphiné. It's even more blatant when you put one on critérium !

Arberg27
Froome winner. Who takes second place? I think Porte Smile

Looking at Porte's recent record, he should be happy when he finishes Criterium du Dauphiné.

I don't understand why did they get rid off that long, flat ITT. It was every year there, making the race more unique.

I hope Talansky does well here.
