Hi everyone,
This is a non-pcm story and I’d like to know if there’s interest in it. It’s a man-Game, sort of, but this time with race drivers. Let me explain.
A new race league has appeared and you can participate. There are drivers who want to race in this league, and they all need a manager. And that manager could be you. You have to negotiate with teams to get your driver in a good seat and you have to follow him during the season. When you get trouble with your driver you can always switch with another manager from driver. But first: how can you participate?
First you need to ‘create’ your driver of whom you are the manager. I need this information about your driver.

Driver character:
I’d prefer to see the ages of the drivers between 18 and 40. When you choose for an older driver it’s possible he’ll retire within a few seasons. You don’t have influence on his retiring age. When he’ll retire you can ‘create’ a new driver of course. I think you have no idea what to put at the last three points. Well, you have to choose one of these.
Positive:
- Technical: Your driver knows a lot of things about cars and he can help to improve the car
- Media behaviour: Your driver can handle the media. This will make him popular amongst the teams and will increase his popularity.
- Resistance: Your driver has a good resistance and won’t be ill and miss races.
- Results behaviour: Your driver can handle disappointed results. This will increase his popularity and teams will like it as well. It slightly helps improving the car.
- Professionalism: Your driver is a real professional. Team bosses will like this and it’ll also helps a bit on improving the car.
Negative:
- Technical: Your driver isn’t technical and can’t help improving the car. Teams don’t like this, but it’s not a big problem.
- Media behaviour: Your driver can’t handle the media. This won’t make him popular amongst the teams and will decrease his popularity.
- Resistance: Your driver will become ill easy and then he could miss races on critical moments.
- Results behaviour: Your driver can’t handle disappointed results. This will decrease his popularity and teams won’t like it as well. It doesn’t help improving the car.
- Professionalism: Your driver is a real party guy. Team bosses don’t like this, although fans could like it.
Driver character:
- Leading: Positive: Your driver is a real team leader and that helps improving the car. Negative: Two leaders at one team won’t go well, so there’s a chance your driver will drive for smaller teams.
- Tolerant: Positive: Your driver is a real team player and his chances are bigger at the best teams. Negative: He’ll almost always will be second driver.
- Normal: Positive: Your driver can drive for many teams. Negative: Your driver doesn’t get a bonus.
There are 22 spaces, so we need 22 managers of 22 drivers. There are 11 different teams. I will simulate the races with the game Grand Prix 4. I know, it’s a bit an old game, but I can simulate it without driving a car, which can’t at f.e. F1 2013.
After we got 22 drivers the managers will get messages from teams who are interested in the driver. There will be several reports from tests (without lap times) so you can see a bit which teams are fast and which aren’t. But watch out: These reports could be a bit different from the reality. Teams are interested in drivers which are from the same country as the team is, but it’s not decisive.
When the negotiations happen the race calendar will be announced as well. There is a chance that there are races with reservation so the calendar could change a few times. The points which are available each race will be announced then as well.
When the drivers are at their teams and the calendar is announced we’re ready to start the season. Race reports won’t be very extensive, but I hope that’s not a problem. During the season several things will happen with the drivers, which are according to your chosen characteristics. They could get trouble with the media or become ill and miss a race. During the season there are also transfer rumours for next season and managers have to try to get the best seat available for their driver next season. But watch out: the team ranking could be different next season!
When you want to quit as a manager then it’s possible as well. Your driver will continue the season without you. When there’s a driver available other members could apply to become the manager of that driver.
During the season the manager don’t have a lot to do. I don’t know if that’ll come because I have no idea what they could do. At the second half of the season the transfer rumours will come and the negotiations will start for the next season.
