It's time for the final race of the Continental Division 2 season. One team has dominated throughout they year, and of course Team Gazelle is the favourites for winning this one aswell.
Gazelle is of course sure of promotion, and also Iberia who is here with Samuel Sanchez just needs to "get this over with" before planning for the Pro Continental league commences.
Magna is just inside the promotion safe zone and thanks to a decent points haul in Utah it's going to take a special result from Allianz-BMW to pass the team of Perikles Ilias who has had a good 2013 campaign. Allianz' captain here is Yannick Talarbadon and he is more of a climber than a puncheur. Also he lacks a decent sprint which could be a problem with a flat finish here in Suisse.
Looking at the favourites a few names springs to mind. In particular Pieter Weening and Dietmar Mehr-Wenige. With a win here Pieter Weening could take the overall individual title in the Continental Tour this season ahead of Steegmans. The Belgian won in Dobrich, but Weening scored points in Yekaterinburg so a first place could just about do it for the Dutch puncheur.
Also there's the winner of Yekaterinburg, Eduard Vorganov of Privatbank. Ilias for Magna, who will be looking to extinquish any kind of hope the Allianz guys still have. Failli is here for Kappa, who is also safe in the promotion zone. Then there's of course Cioban for Mobil, and maybe Alizadeh and Golas have some riding fast left in them for 2013.
I dunno, but let's find out!

What Cioban exactly? I'm pretty sure Cioban rides for Ekspla, not for my team. |

Time to pass Ekspla in the standings and claim 8th overall. Go Vorganov and Fonte!

now why on earth did i not send Schurter? With the downhill just before the finish and the home nation bonus he definately could have ended up in the mix.
At least Chavanne and Hugentobler get to ride in their home country to close out the season.

Some hilly big guns here to play in this resurrected classic. Would be fitting fir Gazelle to place three guys on the top ten but somehow not win.
Should be interesting to see how Gazelle prepare for next year. I think Samu takes this.

Last race of the year. I would like to finish with a win unfortunately feel that Mehr-wenige will again be hampered by lack of support from the team ...
A good result here could allow up one or two places in the final standings which would be optimal

The C2 season really was dominated by Gazelle this year.
Their amount of puncheurs was top class and delivered very well. |

11th for Golas, ending the year in disappointment, no surprise in what has been a disappointing season for Credexbank.
Congratulations to Gazelle for this win and their domination of the division.

Hugentobler went for the home town heroics but couldn't pull it off, still considering the squad we sent 14th is a good result for us.

Good to see Demare took a few points in his last race for Magna, I'm happy he was of some use for them this season
Congratulations to Gazelle, what a dominating year.

What a fitting way to end the season indeed.
And i hope Magna-Ryanair did enough to secure promotion.

As others have said, this is how it was always going to end. An absolutely dominant performance from an absolutely dominant team. I look forward to seeing what they can do in the second division next year.

I am wondering what Weening would have done for me on PCT level. But as I was outbid by Dubbel Dekker on him, I went for Geschke instead.
Wasn`t the worst decision for me in the end I guess. |
