Short stage race in New Zealand.
Two key stages here the opening lengthy prologue and the summit finish up the 15.5km Tanaka Hill on stage 3. We have three short circuit style stages which should suit the sprinters.
The really big guns have skipped this, though we still have some strong climbers who have made the trip.
Abal (CSC), Gomez Marchante (ING), Efimkin (LukOil), Marquez (HTC), Serpa (Evian), Caroso (Cisco), Peraud (Oz Cycling) have the experience to make an impact.
Young guns like Keizer (VW), Ji (Meiji) and Bibby (Jaguar) could also feature.
Several top line sprinters also make this trip in this large 20 team affair.

I went all out with my climbers for this one. Hopefully it can pay off with a good GC placing.

Great start by Keizer, if he can stay with the favorites in the climbing stage and Rogers are gone we could get some good points here, really need that after the results in greece

Not the best of starts in the TT but hopefully it wil give us some freedom to take time back over the rest of the stage.

Nothing special so far. Elijzen 4th in the prologue is ok and Gavazzi with a 5th is expected on such an easy stage. Sights are set for stage 4 and 5, hopefully he can sneak a win there.
Not looking forward to stage 3 at all, everyone is welcome to join the UPC bus

Awang's hoping it's running late as he won't be able to catch it otherwise.

I probably should have been here in a small little fun race with Ruijgh instead of trying to make big points in Hellas, where it failed.
Then again only one mountain top finish without any other difficulty and a time trial prologue could have been a disaster for him as well.
Expecting the mountain stage with a lot of excitment as I actually never played that race very often since I created it and I think never with PCM12. And as the MG Version climb is a bit longer than the actual version, I have no idea at all. |

Would it kill Serpa to attack? More points unnecessarily lost to Meiji. |

Well, at least we may get a Top-10 here... If nothing happens in the flat stages. We tried to hang on, which is good. Rogers did well, and with Peraud possibly scoring points, too, this would be one of our better races in a series of disappointing results, which made me more and more planning for CT next year..

Great. Just Great. God I hate PCM 12.
Thanks for the reports Smowz, much appreciated. Even if they don't make good reading for me

Peraud is a joke
Can't complain about Rogers climbing on 6th though. Tough luck with this split, feel always sorry for those being involved - including myself

I think Awang's finally figured out what he's paid to do, wish he could have been doing this well all season. Shame about the split, even if it does move my guys up GC a little bit.
Hopefully that stage will give Awang the confidence to go on and get similar results over the remainder of the season.

Just a quick wrap up here:
20 teams were here so there was always going to be winners and losers.
Here are the team scores from the race:
ING | 189 | Meiji | 161 | Jaguar | 119 | Hollister | 113 | Oz | 105 | CSC | 83 | VW | 74 | Cisco | 63 | AirBalti | 49 | HTC | 38 | Lukoil | 31 | Sauber | 23 | UPC | 16 | JK Cycling | 14 | Evian | 13 | P Lasko | 13 | Repsol | 1 | Cadbury | 1 | Risa | 0 |
The attacking Ji and Gomez Marchante no doubt will be cherished by their teams whose brilliant two up move on Takaka Hill yielding huge dividends.
Oz Cycling's Rogers and Hollisters Davis took the other stages, slightly surprising is a decent invisible performance from Jaguar with Bibby's consistency and Tekliehaimonts decent climb bringing decent rewards.
Keizer being caught behind a split cost VW turning a good race into a average one. Abal was late to the party on the mountain stage. Cisco were hurt badly by the last stage crash - not effecting Caruso but hitting their two other GC men. Cav couldn't get a stage win for AirBaltic and Marquez was very average on the mountain day for HTC, which is what we would have expected of Efimkin for LukOil.
Sauber were the best of the C2 mob, though for UPC, Evian, P Lasko and Repsol this was a humiliating performance scoring lower than JK Cycling. Cadbury and Risa was not good enough to score (well Torckler managed a point in a sprint!).
