Hi,
I want to buy a new computer. I want to be able to play PCM for the next couple of years. But I want to play it on the highest settings possible, for the next couple of years. Since I'm not that good with videocards and stuff, I want to know from you guys what computer I should buy.
I have a budget of 1300-1500 €. Should I just buy a pc? Or should I choose each part myself and then let my computer store put it together?
Hope you guys can help!!

Well, my father went to a shop and he said 'I want a computer and it needs good graphics and he called some games I play, and they created a computer for him. Our computer was cheaper than your budget is, and I can play PCM(11) and many other games with the highest graphics.

I've only bought parts, and then had it built by 2 friends of mine. The advantage of that is you don't pay the costs of building it and you can really adjust all your parts on the high graphics. I paid 950 for my PC and I can run it at the 2nd highest level, while this should normally cost 3-400 euro more

I doubt that. My 1000 € retail laptop easily plays it on ultra settings, and that price included a 120 GB SSD and 8 GB RAM.

Keep in mind that prices in the Netherlands are way higher than in Germany. Besides, my hard drive is 500GB. My friends, who built it for me, said the difference would be about that much, if not more

If you wanted to buy a £1000 desktop right now is more than enough to play any game on higgest at this point except Ultra on Metro, BF4 and sometimes Crysis 3. Other games run on highest possible ( a £1000 desktop would have Gefore 770 in it).
You can also find a computer around £700 mark that would play PCM on highest easilly for number of years, i.e. quick search gave me this one. You can find cheaper with Gefore 760 in it which ensures you highest graphics in most games, and definitely for few years in PCM.

It's quite good, will play most games on highest, as well as PCM obviously although if you price range was closer to 1000-1200 I am not sure why you didn't get Gefore 770. How much did it cost you?
I am wondering as the one I posted above for £800 is basically exactly like yours.

Not so sure about the price differences from country to country.
But pretty sure you could get a similar computer already for 700-900€ in Germany at least.
Plus if you want it to last for quite some time, I would recommend to buy 16gb of Ram instead of just 8gb. Then again RAM is at a very high price right now and you can`t really see a tendency where it will go in future. |

The SSD is optional. I have 1 TB HDD as well. Plus it's 17".
I don't want to show off, I just thought a comparable PC would certainly be 250-300 € cheaper, and especially when it's self-built.
Which would make prices in the Netherlands 400 € higher than here, and I don't believe that.
And if that really was the case, buy it here.

Well, that spambot aside: What is the most important thing at a new PC to greatly reduce loading times at PCM? I suppose it's RAM? Does a SSD help when it comes to loading times?

Yes, it will help LOADS. Once you go SSD you never want to go back, seriously.
PCM has had a history of being limited to only using 2 GB RAM Because it isn't 64-bit. I don't think much has changed, so I don't see the need to go over 8GB.
8GB RAM at a decent clock speed + Samsung 840 EVO SSD + Good processor = fast loading times.
