So, every time Horner takes a drug test...he worries? Really...why?
Take a read, straight from Veleo and sounds kinda odd to me Chris. If I took a drug test, I would not worry. Im clean...hmmm, are you?

I don't read anything into this. He's simply an honest man who is afraid of being lured into a positive drug test through his food and drinks, when he personally really intends not to dope. |

I agree...to a point. Seeing this article was bumped up from the dead file on Veleo after how well Horner is riding...and rumors of doping.
I hope he is clean, I live in the US if he wins...that 3 big races (2 and a GT) won by Americans this season. But at the same time...41, sprinting up a mountain. Im not sure I can buy into that. With a perfect program and luck, maybe. But guys like Voit are good for a flash of old now and then and leadership. But far away from GC riders at his age (Voit is 42).

I think that this pretty much sums it up well. Who wouldn't feel this way?

Voigts whole career is far from clean too, so not a best example. They are both obvious dopers, does not matter how often they try to claim otherwise.

Well I don't know much about Voigt's early career, other than that he seems like a sympathetic guy, and I've allways enjoyed his fighter spirit. Horner on his side landed at the UCI suspicion- of- doping list at level zero some years ago, so I really think you should be a little bit more humble in your expressions. For all I know, they both might have been involved in doping, but I'd rather be silent about my assumptions until WADA or UCI claims something else.

I think this is what is the most important point here-
“During this Tour de France, I probably took 30 Cokes and 30 bottles from guys on the side of the road that I don’t have any idea who they are. And I drank them anyways,” Horner said, sitting on the road after the mountaintop finish of stage 17.

@ Matrix, for linking to these news articles you should consider putting them in the News in September topic, it's usually the place where articles like these get discussed.

This is a valid point. However, if worried then if it was you...wouldnt you be all over your radio to get food or drink?
While Lance doped, before everyone knew people on the side of the road spit, threw stuff and 1 year tried to push him. So, to me something is lacking in either riders needs from team cars...or the race organizers.
Would it be asking to much to provide a few motorcycles with items such as Coke on them. If a rider (Froome TDF this year) miss a feed, they can flag a motorcycle for say a 5second penalty. Yes it is time, but 5 is better than 20 and if its from the race organizers...you cant do/say much is it has been spiked. Seeing all riders have that option, it could be meant for anyone (not just a targeted rider fans may go after).

I don't think Horner is clean, neither do I believe the stories of F. Schleck and Contador. But he does have a point, you can not possibly know what enters your body through food and drinks. |

Believe me, many clean sporters worry after each dope test, also I did... You never know for sure what could be wrong with drinks, food, vitamins, prescribed medicins... |

If you're worried about what you're eating, simple, don't fucking eat it.
Processed foods? Shouldn't be eating that crap anyway as a professional sports person.
Medication? Shouldn't need to be on anything.
Nutrients? Minerals? Why not try getting that from eating a well balanced diet (rather than eating mars bars etc whilst racing - see cyclingtips today) rather than popping vitamin pills etc.
And his statement about Clenbuturol and Contador, well, get foobarred. |

Thats what I was saying. He said he got 30 comes from the crowd. If your worried about the crowd putting something in it... dont take it.
As I stated, would it be so hard if riders worry about this to have a motorcycle carry drinks and gets (like the Mavic car) and if needed you flag it down if the team car is too far to help. Maybe its an emergencey and they give a 2-5sec time penalty if you use it...but atleast you cant say a member of the crowd poisoned you, you could have everything from the motorcycle tested. It would be the people who run the race who would then be to blame...unless you dope.

Problem is the linked page is a year old
And I agree with whats said above. As a pro athlete you are told not to take suspicious things from fans. Im pretty sure most cyclists only use bottles on the roadside to pour over themselves, and not actually drink.
