Okay so I'm back after a bit of a hiatus while the new game got some bugs worked out. I like that they re-did the fitness to return somewhat to the old style. I also decided I did not like my Oracle team, and would rather go back to the BMC team I was happy with before the new game.
So we are starting back at the beginning of 2013 (I'm using the Anglo2012NC database) with randomized potentials. Evolution is set to .3, and the game difficulty is on hard. Some customized stuff is that I will use my youngridercarac xml files, and I have also edited progression to normalize it. (minimum up from .2 to .5, maximum down from 3 to 2).
As for camps, I'm allowing myself 1 preseason camp per rider and 1 scouting camp for each grand tour. For the rest of the team I'm going to stick close to what BMC tends now, with favoritism towards Switzerland, Italy and USA, but not restricted to any countries.
As I was starting before, I'll be using my twitch channel while playing, but will also give written recaps with pictures after a session.

Australian Championship (ITT) | January 10th, 2013 |
The start of the season down under, at BMC we only have one Aussie, but Cadel is a pretty darn good Aussie to be that one. We have hopes for him in both the time-trial and the road race. Expect to see Orica out in force while Evans has to fend for himself.
The first part of the trip is the time-trial, with favorites Richie Porte (Sky), Michael Rogers (Saxo) and Rohan Dennis (Garmin).
One of the early out to start is also high on the list of riders with a chance. Orica's Cam Meyer would set the fastest times at both checkpoint and finish but would have a lot of waiting to see if his numbers would stand.
Cadel gets off to a slowing start as BMC's only rider, and ends up finishing outside the top 10 certainly disappointed with the effort.
The closest of the trio of favorites to catching Cam Meyer is Ritchie Porte for team Sky. As the Meyer brothers both get on the podium with Cam in first and Travis in 3rd. Rory Sutherland takes second and Porte just misses the podium in 4th.

Australian Championship | January 13th, 2013 | Buninyong – Buninyong: 160.2 kms - Hilly |
The road race is a hilly circuit with a downhill finish. There is a chance the hills don't cause enough of a problem for the sprinters, though a strong attack could also break things up leaving this to be a very wide open race for anyone to take. Orica will have numbers, but other major teams like Sky and Saxo aren't short on riders either.
It takes a little bit for a break to get off, and only two riders, Mitchell Lovelock-Fay (Christina Watches) and William Clarke (Argos) are able to move away. Neither are giving too much time in the front as the lead never exceeds five minutes.
Over the final circuit, Simon Clarke (Orica) makes a move and is followed by Cadel Evans and Rory Sutherland. The two man breakaway still holds a small lead over these three and a chasing peloton.
William Clarke holds on to win with Lovelock-Fay close behind! The three attackers find themselves only moments too late and sprint for third with Simon Clarke (not related) rounding out the podium.

Santos Tour Down Under | January 22nd – 27th, 2013 | Race Preview |
The first major race of the season continues the team's start in Australia. Local hero Cadel Evans though will not be racing for the team as the race really doesn't fit for him and his goals are much bigger, like wearing pink or yellow later this season. So the team here is much less heralded but still planning to put up a strong start to the season.
The team will be led by Belgian Greg Van Avermaet who should fit well with both an ability to tackle the hills and sprint, though his season really will be set looking towards the classics. Another option for the GC is Stephen Cummings, the Brit is very capable on hilly terrain. For the sprints, GVA will be the target, with leadout potential from Klaas Lodewyck.

Santos Tour Down Under | January 22nd, 2013 | Prospect – Lobethal: 133.2 kms - Flat |
Stage one sees a route from Prospect to Lobethal with a three lap circuit and a high chance for a mass sprint. A single cat 2 climb will determine the first wearer of KoM jersey and several sprint points could add up for the leader of the sprint competition.
With the race underway it takes a little bit for a breakaway to form, but on the climb the group becomes clear as Steve Morabito takes the lead in the KoM and is followed by the other three in the breakaway Anton Vorobyev (Katusha), Nelson Oliveira (RSLT) and Eloy Teruel (Movistar).
The sprint points would be dominated by Teruel who would take plenty to ensure he also puts on a leader's jersey at the end of the day. The other three riders took turns on who would get second and third.
With the race nearing the finish, the peloton turned up the pace and brought back the breakaway, though Steve Morabito was determined to fight it out as long as he could, separating from the breakaway group on the last small uphill section of the race.
But the finish was destined for a sprint, and Greg Henderson (Lotto) would be the fastest today giving the Kiwis something to celebrate in Australia. Rounding out the podium would be Roberto Ferrari (Lampre) and Tony Gallopin (RSLT).

Yea, bit bummed out on that one, still getting used to the new game. Didn't do any practice before starting this up.

Santos Tour Down Under | January 23rd, 2013 : Stage 2 | Mount Barker – Rostrevor: 116.4 kms - Hilly |
Stage two could be a bit more deciding than stage one, the course is again mostly flat, but one nice climb just before the finish could easily become a problem for the fast guys, and could be a deciding factor in the GC. Also whoever tops the cat one climb first will become the new KoM leader, so expect to see BMC fight to defend their jersey.
The early breakaway sees Australian champion Will Clarke (Argos) out getting some sprint points ahead of Movistar's Iván Gutiérrez and BMC's Yannik Eijssen. This group would only last for a short time before fading into the peloton.
A second group would form, though still with Yannick Eijssen, but this time adding on Ion Izagirre (Euskaltel) and Dennis Van Winden (Belkin) as they make a push before the looming cat one climb. The group however wouldn't reach the bottom with an advantage.
Going up the climb the pace would be set by Stephen Cummings with Greg Van Avermaet on his wheel. Things all seemed to be running smoothly when a tired Marco Marcato (Vacansoleil) lost GVA's wheel and let the pair get a lead on the peloton! Cummings would continue to do a fantastic job on the pacemaking for Van Avermaet.
The edge would give Van Avermaet everything he needed as the pair would push to see how much time they could gain on the peloton. Greg sprinted to the finish knowing ever second could be valuable in his ability to defend the leader's jersey he would certainly be wearing. Cummings would also easily come in ahead of the peloton giving a nice double to BMC early in the season.

Santos Tour Down Under | January 24th, 2013 : Stage 3 | Unley – Stirling: 131.1 kms - Hilly |
The third stage is another hilly profile but more based on the consistency of the bumps rather than the final climb. After a great display of force by BMC on the last stage, it will be up to them to control this stage, where a sprint of the better climbers is expected.
The only categorized climb starts at the very beginning and makes it difficult for a breakaway to really get going as they have to attack up the climb. However, a few to get off the front led by Australian Jay McCarthy of Saxo-Tinkoff.
The breakaway group was never let too far out by the BMC riders, and the group would be constantly joined by new riders attacking, and then would see some riders drop as they went over the climbs along the route. Either way it was not going to be a day for them.
On the final climb and short descent though the serious riders would make their moves, led by Pablo Urtasun (Euskaltel) who would pick up Jay McCarthy from the breakaway and drag him again away from the bunch. But the peloton is charging hard for a sprint.
For most it would not work, but Urtasun was able to stay away just long enough to gain some time and the stage win. Race leader Greg Van Avermaet finished 2nd with a strong sprint followed by one of the most beloved riders in Jens Voigt (RSLT). McCarthy would hold on for 4th after enduring the breakaway nearly from the start of the race.
