Welcome to the Isle of Man for the next installment of the C1 classics. This race does however have something unique; it is a TT. Some of the best Pro-Continental rouleurs attend in hope of taking the fifth edition of this special race.
The race however is more than just who is fastest against the clock. There is the Snaefell hill in the second half of the course which will require some climbing prowess. Endurance will also be needed for this long 61km test.
Reigning champion Gustav Larsson does not make the trip, nor last year's second placed rider Mikhail Ignatiev. The only rider from last year's podium riding is Kai Reus of Team UPC, who must be one of the favourites.
The home crowd will have three British teams to cheer for. airBaltic - Endura, ANC - Halfords and Cadbury - Schweppes are all based within the country. African team Jaguar - Eritel could also be well supported due to their British connections.
As far as big favourites are concerned, you can't really look past ING's Dave Zabriskie or World Champion Michael Rogers. They are so hard to separate and either could win, but they look a cut above the rest in terms of TT skill complimented by a bit of climbing.
Behind them, the fight for the third podium spot could prove to be hotly contested. Dominique Cornu has the best TT skills but Kai Reus and Lars Boom can climb a bit better, which could come in handy on the Snaefell climb.
Looking another step down once more there are plenty of people who could pull off at least a top-10. Tony Martin could pull off a surprise as he is time-trialling a lot better after his move to Bouygues, while riders like Vasili Kiryienka, Rui Costa, Adam Tennant and Ignatas Konovalovas are all consistent against the clock.
Many other riders travel here in the hope of a good finish but the high quality field could make a high finish tough. Names of note that could pull off a surprise could be Hajun Ma, Michael Elijsen, Yasmani Martinez or even Chris Barton but a top 10 looks to be past them.
There is also a bracket of riders who are great in flat TT's but could struggle with the large climb. Michael Ford, Hugues Mottin, Ian Stannard and Dennis Van Winden could pull off surprises but I think a high finish could be past them. |

Last year I would have expected a Ignatiev, Reus, Boom battle.
This year I am hoping for a top5 at least. TT competition really improved a lot in PCT.
The hill could become very important and make it an interesting race. Riders like Cornu might struggle a bit while Kirijenka can once again make a huge time trial performance. |

Hope the hill plays a crucial role so Costa gets a great time.

Betting on Zabriskie. I really want a podium from Cornu here. I think the flat will make much more difference than the hill and he isn't exactly terrible at climbing, so should hold the others off.

Interesting to see how that hill effects things - a rider like well known chrono 'fatty' Michael Ford could well struggle to hit a top 10.
Cadbury's are here, they have some okayish TT men so some points could be eeked out here.

Hopefully Reus will bring in a good points haul here, although 3rd is the best to realistically hope for.

7th is not what I had hoped for. But early conditions obviously helped some riders a lot.
17th by Velits though is not too bad, while Van Aelbrock couldn`t finish in the top30. |

Wow, zabriskie with an incredible day! Congrats, ryca!
Anyway, pretty happy with the result for Oz. Rogers on somehow expected 2nd plus Ford and Peraud adding nice points. Good decision to send Peraud

Thanks Tsmoha, that's was just one heck of a performance by Zabriskie and I must say this is perhaps the best ever performance by any of my riders in the 2½ season that I've been a manager in!
That Winden managed to finish 5th, despite his lack of climbing ablility, gives the team a great way to renew our bid for promotion.
Great report FroomeDog99

Great to be back in action, though not a super result. Still, congratulations to Z and Rycadinho!

Sigh. Can we just start next season? Great ride by DZ but over that length Cornu should be better than he was.
Congratulations to our winner and thanks for the report.
