When I heard neither Contador nor Rodriguez will ride the Vuelta, it stirred my curiosity whether there are any names that are rumoured/confirmed to ride the Vuelta.
I can imagine Wiggins wanting to prove himself after his failed Giro and Froome's successful Tour. Though, the route seems the suite Uran/Henao better, if I'm not mistaken. |

Wiggins won't come, but Nibali will be there for sure. Urán and Henao are also confirmed. |

Where have you heard that Rodriguez wont be there?
I know Contador just confirmed it, but i dont recall Rodriguez saying he wouldn´t be there, especially not with his formgain in week 3 of TdF |

Not sure if he is going, but Majka could be good in the Vuelta. Samuel Sanchez didn´t ride TDF, so maybe he will go for it.

You would have to say that on paper Vincenzo Nibali is the favourite. Though, we have seen how well that whole "on paper" thing can work out with the Giro d'Italia. Unless the Vuelta has a complete reverse in fortunes, then the Vuelta is anything if not unpredictable and exciting.
You can pencil in Sammy Sanchez too, how he performs is another question. |

What can we expect? A good watch.
Henao and Betancur winning their first GT stage as well as both making a podium on GC.
AG2R will be a team to watch, Betancur, Pozzovivo, Nocentini and possible Peraud, could well be a very strong team.
Also, I hope that EBH rides Vuelta and gets few stages possibly, he really needs a good morale and confidence boost and Vuelta stages could well do that.

Dont count on Roche to be there
Saxobank will most likely be there with their secondary squad now Contador wont be there.
So Saxobank will probably bring Majka, Chris Anker, Nicki and some of the others who havent done the tour. |

Will they let Majka ride two GT's in one year?
Edit: Same for Betancur by Ag2r.

Belgian commentator (Michel Wuyts) said so during today's stage.
I'm trying to find a more thrust-worthy source. |

Nibali will come preparing for World Championship, not sure if he might be thinking of winning. Surely if he gives 100% then favorite to win. |

I believe Samuel Sanchez has focused this season on the Vuelta instead of the Tour de France. So he'll be there in good form.

Clearly since he hasn't ridden Tour?
Anyway, Samu is past it. Good enough for a stage and possible Top 10 but not much more.

I heard Purito is coming to Vuelta for stage wins, not GC. |

They probably will let him, since he wont go there to win but just do his best.
Also i cant see who else they would bring, most of the tour guys are probably smashed after their tour. |
