The final stage of this year's tour is a sprinters stage. The favourites are Haedo, Bozic and Napolitano.
Thomas Fothen leads the tour into this final stage and unless he crashes or there is a mechanical incident he will win the tour.
Of course there is no stage without a breakway so here it is:
And if people could put their hands togethor and witness this milestone in cycling history, please. Jeanneret (Control Team III) is at the font of the race This really is the pinnacle of his career, branded as a worse version than Mads Kaggestad, he has battled through the trauma and there he is. Along with him there is Scanlon (Carrefour), McCartney (Discovery) and Szmyd (Gazzeta).
5kms later and Jeanneret's fame ends, he is dropped fron the group and after 5kms of soloing he gets spat out the back of the pack.
Szmyd took the first sprint ahead of Scanlon and McCartney. Then McCartney took the honours at the seconds ahead of Szmyd and Scanlon.
The breakaway would definatley make it as with 20kms to the finish, the pack had still not woken up and the gap was at 19'30". Then something mysterious happened.
Scanlon was all alone and just had to ride the next 10kms to the finish to take an epic Irish victory.
and he did.
The tour was almost over, but before it was there was a crash in the peleton! A rider took out half the peleton including 9 riders from the top 10! Notable riders to go down were Klöden (2nd), Dekker (3rd), Devolder, Leipheimer (10th), Schleck (5th), Rujano (6th), Mancebo, Pecharroman, Menchov (8th), Evans (4th), Intxausi, Schumacher, Perez Cuapio (7th), Garzelli and Parra Pinto (9th). Somehow, Fothen managed to steer clear and was the only rider out of the top 10 to stay on his bike. Luckily for the crash victims the sheer amount of riders that went down meant they were strung out and no time differences were recorded, so they all keep their positions.
So, Fothen wins the GC and U-25 classification. Halgand won the KOM jersey and Ciolek took back the points jersey.
