This thread is meant for everything that has to do with the 2013 Tour de France before the race actually starts.
This includes predictions, tour squads, news about the race, favourites etc.
I'll begin with some news myself. According to Sporza, BMC has already made a pré-selection of 12 riders. It didn't say who's in it, only that TVG, Evans and Gilbert are included and Van Avermaet not.
I know, it's nothing special but it's a start. Feel free to speculate on the other 9 Tour-candidates. |

They did say who the 12 were: Evans, Van Garderen, Gilbert, Frank, Schar, Bookwalter, Burghardt, Quinziato, Hushovd, Moinard, Nerz and Morabito.

Do you have a link, because I couldn't find any information about it, not even on their own website.
Spoiler Oh god, I feel retarded now. You do everything to make sure to have all the right information, and then there's always someone else who knows it all better |

Probably the most up-to-date startlist you can find:

Not entirely correct as Fuglsang and Grivko are the only two Astana riders who are already sure from their spot

Isn't that list for a part based on rumours? Because I remember that list a few weeks ago when it mentioned Wiggins and Henao for Sky.
And it would seem strange to me that all those teams give their Tour-squads information to just one website. |

Well obviously it is partly based on rumours, because the startlists are not official yet.
Still, my point stands, as I find this the most correct (and regularly updated) provisional startlist collection source out there. |

I'm looking forward to the Tour. 100th edition so it ahs to be special.
For the win, I will bet on Froome. Sagan for green. Hope to see Voeckler in the KoM and a stage win or two, like last year! |

Normally, riders who do Dauphiné or Suisse + TDF are already at 97-100 % of their abilities in terms of climbing performance.
That's unless they're just coming back from injury, of course.
More than 2 % improvements in terms of performances between now and TDF mountains should be considered suspect.
Just saying... |

@Aquarius
In all fairness anyone who wins a stage in the Tour should considered suspect, as well as anyone in the Top20 GC. As should anyone who does well in either the Dauphine or Suisse.
On the subject of Pre-Tour... bugger all in terms of storylines... Evans or TVG is about it... christ

Good to know that Froome isn't suspicious then. He's riding the the whole year at 95-100% |

Contador should keep away from steaks to make that happen, though
And I can't see Porte getting 3rd, rather Valverde(otherwise maybe Quintana) or Rodriguez.

Well Brajkovic and Fuglsang will be sharing the role as captain. So guess it makes 3/9 spots on the Astana team taken.
Really looking forward to the Tour this year. Lots of good riders taking part in the Tour this year. Let's hope they can destroy the UK Postal Train. Hopefully they will make the 100th edition of TdF as something memorable and not like last year, a piece of shit. |
