May saw 2 HC races, 8 C1 races and 8 C2 races, and will go down as the month that Vueling Airlines finally showed up, and started to press forward their rebound promotion ambitions. Thomas Dekker, of course, led the way with victories in the Tour de l'Ain and Clasica a Quetzaltenango, but other team members also delivered some valuable points.

Team Bpost started the mont well with a dominant performance at the 5 Jours de Dunkerque, and while the races that followed made them the 2nd highest scoring team this month, they might not be totally satisfied with how May played out.

Having really come into their own in the final week, Team Gazelle are up in 3rd for the month, despite being a CT team! Their focus on C2 races has really started to deliver with 3 big stage race victories in New Zealand, Japan and Belgium.

Victory in Tartu capped a much needed strong month from AirBaltic-Endura, while ING Cycling are 5th on the list despite only riding 3 races. The Tour of the Czech Republic was their shining moment.

Tinkoff's climb reached its summit as they topped the standings following Kozontchuk's victory at the Rogaland GP, but Lars Boom's 2nd overall at the Tour of the Czech Republic has ensured that Rothaus-Aegon end the month where they started, at the top of the standings.

Bpost climb to 3rd, while Allan Davis' Berlin ProRace victory means that Hollister only fall to 4th despite spending much of the month at the Giro. ING and Sram both gained a position while Bouygues Telecom have slipped 3 places despite participating in 7 races.

Vueling's strong month has put them up to 8th place as the only new entrant into the Top 10. Metinvest and HTC-Nieuwsblad hold firm, while Jaguar drop out having entered into a quiet period of racing.

Prio, Vespa and Pivovarna Lasko remain Top 15 teams, and are joined by VolksWagen-Mapei after a 3 position rise. The biggest climbers though are AirBaltic - Endura, with a 9 place jump up to 16th - giving them respite from the relegation battle, for now.

Having spent only 3 race days all month, it is no surprise that Cisco are the team to fall in the other direction. They also have a change of 9 places, as they fall to joint 23rd with CSC-Orbea. Team WWE joined Cisco in only racing in Queltzaltenango, and their 8 place drop has put the former leaders into the relegation zone.

Swedbank-PEAB have escaped the drop for the moment, while Evian-MIAT enjoyed a stronger month to go up to 26th. And PFG-Armavia are no longer bottom, moving above Repsol-Cativen, albeit having used more race days.

Tinkoff remain on top of the projected standings, but their PPrD have taken a notable hit this month to fall from 33 to 26. Rothaus remain 2nd here, while Hollister, Sram and Bpost have moved up at the expense of Bougyues.

Vueling and ING can now boast of a PPrD greater than 20, so can certainly be pleased with their month. Alstom-RBC appear to be the most out of place team, as projections suggest a 6 place improvement for them.

The only change in the relegating 5 is that WWE edge ahead of Sweadbank in the battle for that final spot. Theres still much cause for 2nd season nerves for Oz, Cisco, Meiji and CSC-Orbea too.

Five teams have reached 88 or more race days, meaning their season is halfway through.

A lack of racing can't stop Kritskiy leading the individual standings, although his lead is reduced.

Alarcon and Vantomme move up inside the Top 10, meanwhile entering t are Davis, Dekker and Vanspeybrouck. Previously Dekker was down in 68th!

Race winners Zabriskie, Avelino and Napolitano all feature in the Top 20.

Team Gazelle storm to the top of the standings following victories at Tour of Southland, Tour de Kumano and Ronde van Belgie. This takes them above the consistent scoring of former leaders Allianz-BMW.

A heavy racing schedule has lifted Die Berg Komt Er to 3rd; Kappa-ENI slip to 4th despite winning Turul Romaniei; Banco Nacional de Costa Rica move up to the 5th promotion spot.

Ekspla-Cision performed very strongly at Southland and Belgie to move up 7 places to 6th, while Boeing-Vivacom climbed up 5 places to 12th, and Team Cadbury-Schweppes gained 4 for 18th, moving off bottom spot!

Not seen since the first day of the month, Adira Isq-Project exit the Top 10 into 14th. No other teams lost more than 2 places, while ANC-Halfords hit rock bottom despite their Barcelona Classic triumph.

Gazelle's impressive month is showcased by the fact that they move into the PprD lead, up to 17.7 from 14.3. Iberia almost lost 2 PPrD as they fall off the top spot for the first time.

Along with Iberia, Mobil-Castrol are projected for promotion despite their current position. They are up to 4th here from a previous 7th, despite only using 4 race days this month. Kappa, Die Berg and especially Magna having fallen in their efficiency this month.

Cadbury-Schweppes are now projected to be 15th, following last month's projection of 22nd!

A good month but with the number of race days I had here it needed to be even better. Back to the nervousness of the promotion battle. This is really stressful Pfft

A rollercoaster month for us. A big win and some dodgy results except for the flat classics.

Huge month for Vueling climbing so many places, maybe now they can make believe they are an actual promotion candidate. Also, flying a bit under the radar, Sram have been pretty consistent which has placed them within the best teams of the division. Didn't expect them to be so good, so congrats felix.

And great report as well SN. You treat us too kindly Pfft

Don't like the fact we sit 24th but looking further into the problem we have only used 78 race days while others around us are in the mid-80s so nothing to fear just yet. Smile

Just noticed that Vattenfall have used exactly twice as many race days as Mobil Castrol but are still behind them, that said being behind them both means we can't really talk.

At least we skillfully managed to plan our season in such a way that we are exactly halfway through it, halfway through it, even if we come dead last that has to be worth something.

Thanks for the update SN, same to all the reporters for fast and furius month of May, great job! Smile

Rankings still looking good for Metinvest, nice point haul of 300+ points and holding incredible top10 spot. Relegation is further and further point wise, that is all that matters. Hoffman also reducing the gap to Kritskiy and he will race some more this month.

Looking forward to Europe Tour rankings, as that is our goal and we are unfortunately gainig points mostly in other regions, so i hope thta goal is still withinh reach.

This month should have been better. Rogers joke of a race in Czech Republic definitely hurts, and i'm concerned about being able to avoid relegation this season.

So we were the 7th best team in May and we are still in the relegation zone. We really need a bit of luck if we are to survive.

Boom with a strong Czech performance really helped here to keep the lead.
Also Vantomme with an impressive season so far. Most improved rider I guess. Wink

We keep slipping down a few places each month. Two more months like this and we will be CT next season.

For us, a truly awesome month - hopefully not the last strong performance from the team. We've already beaten last years stage wins, and equaled race wins. Our top 15 standings goal is entirely plausible, but we need a couple more strong races.

Docker, Kono and Vaitkus all into top 50 riders, which is nice. Cav will hopefully join them soon.

Of my two favourite teams, Meiji are looking safely above relegation at the minute, but Oz might need some more TT magic and a bit of luck.
