The decisice mountain stage! Two category two climbs before our final climb to the finish. The big climbers should definatly show themselves here.
Some of them already lost a lot of time yesterday so we can expect riders like Nazaret, Suaza and Ardila Cano to attack which should give an exciting stage.
Big favourites are Dekker, Abal and Popovych.
A big break of 11 gets away early. Jaguar sees no danger in them and lets them go. Names of all riders at the front: Pakthusov, Ilnio, Delgado, Brutt, Garbelli, Strigar, Dyrnes, Bret, Laidler and Piamonte.
Brutt takes full points on the first climb and moves up to 26 points which is 6 less as Rake with still 10 points available on the next climb.
Ilnio, who wore the KoM jersey for 2 days, takes second and moves up to 16 points.
As expected, the climbers who lost time yersterday attack out of the peloton. First Ardila Cano and later a duo attack from Bouygues with both Suaza and Solis.
They quickly formed a trio and got joined by Morabito and Eltink on the descent. Prio Porto and Jaguar saw this move as too dangerous though and they are brought back right as the second categorised climb starts.
The fast pace means the break is only 1'30 infront now.
They were not tired though and 4 of them jumped clear again right after being caught. Suaza, Eltink, Morabito and Ardila Cano use their climbing skill to ride away from the peloton and they join the peloton about 3 kilometres from the mountain sprint.
Brutt can only take 4th at the second mountain sprint as Ardila Cano, Ilnio and Eltink are all faster as him. That means that Rake keeps his mountain jersey for now with 2 points over Brutt.
There are still points available on the final climb though.
The climb still goes on for a while after the mountain sprint and it's there that Abal attacks out of the peloton. It's Kunshin who quickly jumps in his wheel.
They are joined by Keizer and yesterday's winner Hoogerland a bit further in what is becoming a dangerous move.
They reach the front as they pass under the 20 km to go banner. Surprisingly everyone at the front has sit up but they start riding again when the 4 join.
An attack from Popovych brings everything back together though and so we start the descent towards the final climb with 81 riders still together.
Dahlberg, who was already suprisingly strong yesterday attacked during the descent and starts the final climb with a small advantage. It's 7.5 km at an average of
Popovych knows he has some time to make up if he wants to podium here so immediately goes in the attack. Only Abal and Dekker can jump in his wheel.
Bibby knows his GC lead is in danger and reacts. Keizer jumps in his wheel and so does Mendes. Suprisingly strong climbing from him here. He even seems stronger as his teammates Plaza and Nicacio.
2 km left to climb and Dekker is now really stretching it. Both Abal and Popovych seem to be in difficulties.
Keizer and Bibby are a half minute behind but could never come anything closer to the front.
Under la Flamme Rouge and it seems like Deker is the strongest here. He has clearly distanced Abal and Popovych who will have to fight eachother for the 2nd place.
Victory for Dekker. He was supposed to be the strongest climber here and showed that today. He also takes over the race lead from Bibby.
It's a close sprint but Abal just beats Popovych for second. They cross the line 31 seconds behind the winner. A strong gap created by Dekker in 2 kilometres.
Keizer and Bibby complete the top 5. Bibby loses his yellow jersey but defends a podium spot as Popovych was more as 2 minutes behind on him.
Gadret and Cataldo are the strongest from the rest. Quite disspointing ride from Plaza here. Luckily for his team, Mendes overperformed and defends a good position in GC. A really disspointing Nazaret who wasn't seen all day comes in a couple groups further down.
Dekkers, Borrajo and Richeze are taken out of the race as Dekker was already in for 24 minutes when they still had 10 km to ride. They were 22 minutes behind the group in front them than.
