July/sign riders for next season.
Cycling Rookie
Hi guys,

In my solo game I`m coming up to July and I need to sign riders for next season.I was just wondering how the procedure works, before I mess it up.

You offer a rider a contract,I guess he mulls it over with offers from other teams, then lets you know who he`ll ride for next season.
Does this take a couple of weeks/months,depend on each individual rider?

Are you only allowed one offer to each rider,so no counter offers to better what another team has offered him?

Say you need ONE sprinter and offer 2 riders ,who are sprinters, contracts for next season.1 riders signs for you ,is there a button to cancel the contract you gave to the other sprinter so you do not end up signing 2 sprinters when you only needed 1?

How many "Absolute Leaders" can you have on your team?

Thanks for your help.

roturn
You make offers to all riders you want. 4-5 days later he will tell you if he accepts or not. If not you might try again.

If a rider accepts your offer there is no cancel button.

I think theoretically you can have all riders being absolute leaders.

Further to my question,I have riders saying they are uninterested with my offer.

I presume I have 2 things I can do here.

1.Sit and wait to see if the rider gets a better offer.
2.Increase my offer and hope the rider signs.

If I sit and wait, does the rider come back with "I`ve recieved a better offer than you,but would still be interested in signing for your team",so you can increase your offer,or do you get no other chance to offer him another contract?

Once again thanks for your swift replys.

If they are uninterested once, they will never sign a contract with you. Never ever, nothing you can do. You can offer 1million to them and they will still leave your team.

And doesn't matter, same as above, will leave the team every single time.

Sorry I didn`t make my self clear, these are riders riding for other teams in 2012,whose contract runs out the end of the season,so are looking for new teams in 2013.

It happened to me that a rider to be uninterested and then accept another offer from me or chose my team in July.

Just for the record:

You can start negotiating a new contract with your current riders at January 1st of the year already. That way, you can beat the other teams, which makes it easier for you to renew the contracts/riders you want.

Something interesting I found in PCM11 (maybe also for PCM12):

You can renew a contract with a rider in your squad even if his contract isn't expiring. That way, you can renegotiate a contract with a rider if you want: if you want to reduce the length of his stay, or increase it. Sometimes, riders ask for a lower salary at a later date, so it's a good idea to check. It's also worth doing if you expect your rider's stats to explode in the short term and his contract almost runs out: you can renegotiate a longer contract at the same level of salary, so he will be relatively cheap in the future.

Do they say they are not interested in joining your team because it is too weak?
Then there's no way to sign them without using an editor.

What I can see, you rather mean the salary you proposed was too low.
Then, simply propose more.

If the your personal limit or the one your sponsor sets isn't enough, no, they won't accept less later on.

By the way, most riders out of contract have a new team by August, so you shouldn't fiddle around too long.

I once had a scouted rider in his fourth pro year still on a 2000€ contract that way winning both TdF and WC Grin

Thanks guys.

An example.

I want to sign Robert Gesink. He wants a 2 year contract for £30,400/Month as an Absolute Leader.

I offered him a contract for £33,000/Month for 3 years as a Absolute Leader.

His reply was "He is suprised by your contract offer. He will look elsewhere if you offer him such an uninteresting contract"

Does he expect me to offer him more?
Is he taking offers from other teams to select the best one later?

What should I do?

Gesink wants 30400 a month? Are you sure? He earns about 75000 in my DB I think...
Well doesn't matter... Wink
Try to offer him some more, and contract of 2 years...

At first, make sure to agree on the contract lenght the rider wants when he rejects your initial offer. That might already make the difference.

In earlier editions, the stars sometimes wanted a lot more (~20000€) than their first demands were, but I haven't experienced that in PCM12 yet.

Still, when he is that adverse, go significantly higher.
£30,400 is very cheap for Gesink anyway, that seems strange to me.

Lachi
In earlier versions of the game, there was a bug when not playing in €.
Has that been resolved? If not, that be the reason for the reaction.

Same to me. I'm with Movistar with 2013DB, and i want to sign Flecha to have a rider, who has chance in cobblestones. I offer him 72.000€ for 1 year (as he wanted), but he replied that "suprised by your contract offer. He will look elsewhere if you offer him such an uninteresting contract". I increased salary to 80.000€, but he refused. There is Hushovd, who's contract also expiring at the end of the year, but i want spanish rider for a spanish team.
My question: can i and how can i "force" him (even with Lachi's editor) to sign for me?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks guys,

I offered Gesink what he wanted in years (2) and a little bit extra salary and he signed on for H20/Downland for £34,000 for the next 2 yearsSmile

Also got deals done with Nerz & Lofkwist Smile

I presume it`s been mentioned in previous versions of PCM,but the transfer process is very messy.

All it wants is a drop down page from the team roster page dealing with transfers.

Which riders you`ve offered a contract to?
Has that contract been accepted, rider mulling over all offers or the contract has been rejected.

Then your clear where you stand regarding riders signed and salary payed out.

Just my 2 cents.

LLDS
I think too that the transfers are messy.
When a rider refuse, he should tell you why (not enough money, not enough years, not pleased with his status, form, morale, wins, etc.).

Transfers are messy.... like pretty much the whole Career mode!

This is kind of a follow on question,so I thought no need for a new thread.

I see that the riders you`ve offered contracts to, sign for your team on October 25th.
After that day,do you still have to click and advance the days, day by day,or does November & December auto fly by and you end up at Jan 1st,like some sport management games I`ve played.

Hope that makes sence.

Once again Thanks.
