An almost pan flat out and back ITT of just over 40km in length await the riders here in Namibia. The race is only ranked C2 but even so there are some fairly well-known TTing names here.
The biggest names belong to Oz Cycling Project and if they come out of this with anything except a win they will be extremely disappointed. Michael Ford headlines the team and undoubtedly the race. Though he is mostly considered a prologue rider, his strong technique will help him here. The only concern could be the length of the course, which does not really play to his strengths. The same can be said about his teammate Miles Olman. Either way expect these two Australians to be fighting it out for the win at the end of the day.
Unsurprisingly the C2 race has brought out the best of the C2 time trialists, and there is no better name in the division than Rick Flens. While he hasn’t got quite the renown or the calibre of Ford, he will probably adapt to this longer course a bit better so he is definitely in with a shout and could upset Oz’s day.
Before the season started Gazelle claimed that they didn’t want to win any races in boring ways. So naturally they are here in the premier C2 TT event. That said they have managed to put together a very good squad with Kristoff Goddaert and Lieuwe Westra both fighting for a podium at this race today.
There are several other riders who will be looking to impress and they will be covered when they are out on course, but some names to look out for include Gert Joeaar, teammates Daan Rijntjes and Alejandro Marque, as well as the third Oz rider here Wen Hao Li.

Ford is a very interesting rider for these races. The competition he would have in C1 is often too hard. In C2 he is the top favourite.
The first two spots are more or less between him and Flens I think. |

Anything but a win would be horrible, indeed I'm not here to fight for a podium only, so please, Ford, make my day then.
If both Olman and Li finish high (Olman for podium, of course), this would have been a good trip to Africa.

I know I betrayed my team doctrine a bit. Already said sorry for that in the team HQ.
Nasty surprise that you brought these Aussies here, tsmoha. They will be hard to beat. I wonder how important secondary stats are in a (long) TT; that will determine their effectiveness.
I'm hoping for a rider in top 3 and another in top 6.

Not sure about the secondary stats, but Ford did quite well in his PT-wildcard Chrono des Herbiers (10th). So I guess (and hope) he will be as effective as he should be

10th in a PT TT?! We're doomed. Congrats on the win.

Not sure how I missed this race ... Martin Irvine and Soto Pereira would have the opportunity to conquer the top10, maybe even a top5 for Irvine.
In my perspective it will be won by Ford without major problems.

Daan Rijntjes and Alejandro Marque
Pretty sure they ride for us
Hoping for a good result. If it is easy Rijntjes should do well but if it a bit harder I expect Marque to do better. A top 5 would be great.

I'm somewhat surprised to not see Larsson here. My former captain would've been perfect for this race, like he showed last season in the Manx TT. I always enjoy these TT reports, and I'm looking forward for this one too.
Ford is the obvious winner pick.

Oz, leave my CT TTs alone! ;(
Will be disappointed with anything but a top 3.

Epic report, Count! Both the results and your extra effort were worth the waiting
Happy that my riders did all to make this C2-trip a success. Nice points for Oz and of course the first win this year.

Now we can see why the report took a couple of days to produce. What an effort there Count
Just have to put a few Countisms out there.
If it weren’t for his age, I would say he has a decent future,
I can almost imagine Carlton Kirby wheeling this one out
unholy trio of Oz Cycling time trial riders
Agreed what an unholy bunch they are - good win from Oz possibly preparing for life in the CT races full time next year? Possibly not after this little boost.
Pleased to see the Cadbury's team I sent the planner in for get some reasonable points - I just hope to take one non JK Cycling scalp in the final team rankings for them. At the moment the rankings are bit embarrassing for me.

Oh smowz please never compare me to that man...
@ Miguel - I'll fix it when I get the chance, but it is basically because Kappa Eni abbreviate to ken and that is too similar to Kenya in the excel file I use to make putting the jerseys into the race easier. These things happen.

Great report Count! Very detailed and cool shots of the riders.
As said before the race, congrats to Oz. I'm content with 4th and 5th; Westra and Goddaert did well.
