I can't believe there isn't a thread for this yet. It's a great competition with a lot of history, and always features some dramatic fixtures, mainly due to the african charismatic style of play. Ivory Coast is probably the biggest favourite given it's probably the last chance for their golden generation to produce an international title. So feel free to join the action if you're a football addict.

I think it will be either Ghana or Ivory Coast.
Although the outcome can be very unpredictable, I mean, look at last year

It should be the Ivory Coast if they play like they know they can |

The untamable lions are no longer what they used to be at the begin of this century.
Ivory Coast to win for me, it will probably be Drogba's last big tournament. Think he will show the world for one last time why he was one of the best strikers in the world.
The first result are all quite surprising though. The Africa cup will be great as always

Cape Verde <3 Shame they didn't hold to the lead. El Arabi's entrance made a great impact, never heard of him. Belhanda was a disappointment. Also, in Cape Verde's side, big plus for Ryan Mendes da GraƧa and Luis "Platini". |

Halfway through the group stage I have to say this has been one of the dullest competitions I've seen. The football being played in South Africa is poor and uninteresting with too few goals and a lot of empty chairs in those huge stadiums.
Good news is that no team has been eliminated yet, which may lead to more exciting matches in the last day
Anyway today's results:
Ghana 1 - Mali 0
Niger 0 - DR Congo 0

Have been impressed by Niger, Cape Verde and Ethiopia in this tournament. Two giant outsiders that actually plays at the same level with some of the greater african teams. I'm always rooting for the underdogs, so tomorrow I'll be all in on Ethiopia |

I agree this has been a tournament with a few surprises from the underdogs.
And the boring matches seem to have ended since yesterday's Burkina Faso 4 - Ethiopia 0. Bad luck for Ethiopia losing their captain right at beginning of the match when they were making an impression. After that it was a walk in the park for Burkina.
Ivory Coast 3 - Tunisia 0 was a very enjoyable match as well. It's nice to see they're living up to the expectations so far. Let's see if they can avenge last year's defeat in the final

Yeah what an emotional matchday in South Africa! It's incredible that the team with the fewest population ever to qualify, has been able to climb to 2nd place of the group in the 90th minute of the match.
The first goal of South Africa is a beauty as well. This is why I love football
