The official thread for all discussions around the 2012-13 season of the FIS Cross-Country World Cup. There probabl arn't to many people here who follow cross country skiing (or any winter sport, for that matter) but the thread is needed.

I will watch the Worlds for sure, i love all the nordic skiing events, even the nordic combined races.
I am looking forward to another battles between the strong four skiers from Tour de Ski and some last metres Northug crashing of the opponents. Also i am keen to see if Bauer can prepare well for the champs and challenge these four in some races, together with likes of Hellner and Poltaranin.
I am not much into the women races, but i will watch them at Worlds.
Ski jumping is always cool to watch, if there are not tons of breaks because of weather (but that was improed by that point deduction/reduction system).
And nordic combined is cool also, although i did not see a single race this year, is still likes of Lamy Chapuis and Moan on the top?
But i like biathlon the most and they will have a separate champs in February in Czech Republic, i will create the thread later.

I am really excited about the WC coming up. Marit Bjørgen seems to be in good shape, the same goes for Northug.
I think the Russians will have a pretty good championship aswell.

Is anyone else but me stoked about the World Championships in Val di Femme?
I'de be lying if said I didn't hope for 6-7 gold medals, the majority of which Marit Bjørgen will take. Petter Northug is in good shape, but there's more competition on the mens side.
Kowalczyk is a favourite, of course, so is Charlott Kalla, but I will be very surprised if she does better than 2 medals, most likely silver or bronze.

Big fail from Nortthug today and yesterday. Bjoergen did very well (all of the norway team actually, 3 on the podium, 5 in the first 9).
In the nordic combined event Jason win the normal gundersen in reverse form, jumping bad and skiing good. Today will be interesting the team competitiom, after the jumps the norway and the german team failed, will be a mad cross country competition, as Italy, Germany, Norway and USA have goos skiers, but have big gap.
The most exciting competition (my opinion) will be the very first (WCH wise) mixed ski jumping competition. My prediction 1.Slovenia 2.Japan 3.Austria (Maybe Germany in of the 1-3 position if they have luck) |

Great last lap in nordic combined teams competition yesterday! Lamy-Chapuis with second gold and perfect finish against Moan.
Lame czech squad dead-last majority of the race, at least last man Churavy improved that to 10th

Norway is ridiculously dominating this just as it did in Biathlon WC.
And while we're at it, sad to see Gössner missing out on that medal by a mere 0.5 seconds.

Beautiful, only managed to see the first and the last mile but what I heard it was a really nice race.
That´s how you should do it if you want to beat Northug , don´t wait for the sprint! |
