Welcome to The Mole
Pre-Info
The Mole was a television series (originally from Woestijnvis, Belgium) where several tasks had to be completed in a team, one of the members was the mole and tried to sabotage. After every episode, all the members (but the mole) could guess who the mole was.
Ian Butler's The Mole
This is a Beta Version, which means I will use this "short" story/game to try and perfect the rules. If this is a success, I will make an entire season. This Beta Version will consist out of one stage race, possibly a 7-day stage race. I will (hopefully) draw 8 members into this game, each of you will "control" one rider. If it succeeds and a whole season will be played, every race shall have another mole. (stage races count as one race)
After the assigning of the riders, one member will be randomly elected to be the mole. At the end of the stage race, the person with the most points wins this game.
Rules
Before every stage, every member has to PM me his orders of the stage. It's best to send in explicit orders, especially for the mole. "Sabotage this stage" is not an order. Say you are a lead-out man, you can sabotage the sprint in many ways, but you can also refuse to carry water bottles in the stage itself. Make sure to be subtle, or everyone will know you are the mole. You can be very creative, and it's allowed to ask me to adjust stats in PCM Fast Editor (for example changing RES from 76 to 65), faking a flat... (later when hopefully an entire season will be played, faking injuries)
All the members have to give orders. And don't forget that every rider can make mistakes. Just because Schleck loses the Tour, doesn't mean he's the mole, per se. It's still a human (me) playing the game, so obviously Cavendish won't win every sprint. That doesn't mean he's the mole.
The reports will be very long, obviously, and will report on many things happening, every rider will be described as objectively as possible. When the race is finished and the report is up, every member has to PM me his vote of who the mole is. The Mole can just send me a nice post card, doesn't matter.
Because the length of the reports and my shortage of time on some days and too much of time on others, reports will be random. Whenever I have some time, I will do it. This game will not move too fast, because I will always need the orders sent in before the race, and the votes after the race.
It's perfectly all right to PM between yourselves and figure out who the mole is. But beware, because the mole is out there, too, talking to you. The question is, who do you trust?
It is, however, forbidden to say you are the mole, whether it's true of false.
Discussing tactics with the entire team is allowed and recommended. Before the race, you will get a list of all objectives. It's best to discuss with the entire team how you will divide the work. Discussing these tactics can be done in this thread.
There will be no HQ's of any kind, this is the only thread for this game.
Points
There will be 8 members for this trial version. 7 members and a mole.
Points by Voting
If a member successfully guesses who the mole is, he receives one point. If he doesn't, he gets 0 points for that stage.
If a member guesses the mole and there's no one else who guessed it, he'll receive a bonus point for being the only one.
There will also be a bonus for any member who guesses the mole in 5 consecutive stages of 3 points.
If the mole goes unnoticed, he will receive 2 points.
If 1-2 people can guess the mole, he will receive 1 point.
If 3-5 people can guess the mole, he will receive no points.
If 6-7 people can guess the mole, he will lose a point.
If a player (not the mole) gets 6 votes against him (by everyone but himself and the mole), he will lose a point.
The will also be a final vote at the end of the stage race, where points will count double.
Points by Racing
There will be objectives to be completed by the team, this can be many things: get in the breakaway, win the Team Classification...
For every objective that is completed, every member (but the mole) will receive the points that go with the objective.
For every objective that is not completed (thanks to the mole or even by accident), the mole shall receive those points.
Obviously, only at the end of the game, points shall be made public.
Applications
For this trial version, we will ride a stage race from the World Tour. (probably Tirreno-Adriatico 2012)
I need 8 members, preferably in this form:
Name Rider:
Nationality:
Role:
Other:
Other can be whatever you want: height, weight, age. For this trial version it doesn't matter that much.
There are 8 roles to be handed out, and each role has only one slot, unless mentioned otherwise:
GC leader
GC Lieutenant
Mountain Domestique
Sprinter
Lead-out Sprinter
Lead-out Rider
Fighter
Domestique/Time Trialist
I will creat the rider with your information and decide the stats myself. Those stats will be made public. The mole can request changing (lowering) stats at any time and will not be made public.
Applications are open. I hope we will all have a good time.

The Race
In the following 8 stages will you work together as a team, as well as look after yourself. You will have to trust on your teammates to reach glory but you will have to be careful not to get screwed in the process. Between battling Contador, Schleck, Cavendish, Cancellara and many others, you will battle each other, trying to find THE MOLE.
Objectives
Objective | Points | Stage | Win Team Classification | 2 | | Finish top 3 | 2 | | Win three stages | 3 | | Win Green Jersey | 2 | | | | | Breakaway | 1 | 3 | Finish top 10 | 1 | 7 |
Discussing general tactics (for example for team classification) is allowed, but the final tactics per rider are to be PM'd. What you discuss with others is not binding (so the Mole can say whatever he wants). It's even recommended to discuss race tactics with the entire team. Your goal as a team is to achieve all objectives, working together is the way to do that!
Stage 1 (Prologue)
Stage 2 (Flat)
Stage 3 (Hilly)
Stage 4 (Flat)
Stage 5 (Time Trial)
Stage 6 (Mountain)
Stage 7 (Mountain)
Stage 8 (Hilly)

Other: A pozzovivo esque rider, he climbs almost as well as anyone, but is very small and lacks power output on a TT bike, meaning he will never be more tan a domestique.
Also, nice idea, this looks like good fun!

This looks fun.
The Mole('Wie is de Mol?' in my country) is one of my favourite TV-series. Although I fear that I don't have enough time for this at the moment, since I'm busy with multiple forum games, and something at PCM itself(and of course School ) But if you can't get 8 applications, and you just need 1 more, I will be surely joining this.

Jakstar22, baggieboys32: Accepted.
Jesleyh: Okay, thanks. Though it doesn't require much time for you. You just give order before a stage, read the stage and vote. That's all. No report-writing whatsoever. But I understand
EDIT: Two Admins have given me permission to run it in this forum. The final decision is up to CrueTrue, though, but I don't think it'll be a problem.

Yeah, but I wasn't sure. Because it's also kind of a story, but it's also a game, I don't know. I just thought the story games was for stories with a lot of HQs and stuff, since this is just the one thread, I didn't see any harm in posting it here. |

Thanks, JuanMotr! The cobbles won't matter in this trial version (only a stage race), but I might make it possible to transfer these riders to the actual game if it's successful! |

Okay, we're full. Thanks for these fast requests! The trial version can start. If it's all right with sutty, I will give him the remaining role as fighter.
Thank you all for joining! |
