Iberia - Comunidad Valenciana
Welcome to Iberia - Comunidad Valenciana official media headquarters. All information abou the team will be posted here. Feel free to post any feedback or questions.
Spoiler Iberia
Iberia Airlines of Spain is the country's flag carrier airline. The company will stay with the team for one year and has an option to prolong the sponsorship into the 2014 season. Iberia hopes that their sponsorship to a cycling team can even further grow their company's name.
Comunidad Valenciana
Comunidad, Cuminatat in local language, Valenciana is one of the 17 regions in Spain. Having been a co-sponsor to Kelme in the early 200's, the team knows what it is to sponsor a cycling team and how it can help the company's name.
Team Kit
This is the kit that our team will be wearing next season. It was designed by Teddy the Creator and we are him very thankfull for that. As you can see, the kit is certainly not flashy. That's because we chose for a more classical look and we are very happy with that.
Well, now it's time for you, peaple from the international press, to ask me anything else you want to know about this team.
What companies will sponsor your clothing? And your bikes?
We have found two companies who are willing to sponsor us. Nalini, a famous name in cycling clothing has produced our jersey. Look, has said that they will support us with bikes. We are both companies very thankfull for that.
How do you see the team shaping? What riders do you expect so sign? Will the team have a clear nationality?
Well, my plan to shape the team is very clear. I will not focus on one nationality but we don't want to be a melting pot either. That's why I have decided to make a team from Spanish, Portugese and South - American riders. That doesn't mean we can sign guys from other countries but don't expect to see a lot of other flags in our team. This means that we also will be targeting some type of riders. It's impossible to find good cobblers in those countries so don't expect any of them to join our team. Instead, we will focus mainly on climbers and stage racers. That said, we also want some punchers and sprinters in our team. We will have to search harder to find and sign them but that would make for a very balanced team. One last thing, we will mainly go for young riders who can join us and get time to develop their talents. Again, also older riders will get a chance with our team but they won't be with much.
What goals do you have for the season?
We are waiting for the final race schedule to be published before we announce our race goals so I can't tell you much about that yet. What I do can tell you though is where we expect to end in the Contintental Division. We don't expect to get a promotion spot but feel that we might have a good chance to fight for the spots right after. Finishing around the 8th place seems like something we should be able to accomplish. We still have to see how the transfers go but we feel very very confident.
That's it for now. Thanks to everyone present here.

Don't worry SN me and Spilak23 will make him pay.
But seriously don't make me overpay for my shortlist riders either.

Oh, a half Valencian team, think I'll grow a fake patriotism and follow this closely.
PS: It's Comunidad (with just one m), or better yet, the official name in Valencian is Comunitat Valenciana. Good luck.

But having my pick of any Spanish talent was really fun. Don't turn Spain into Italy, please.

3 Spanish teams is still not much! Way less than Germany, Italy, France.
Kumazan, thaks for pointing that out. Will use Communidad as it's less region focused.

France has never had that many teams actually - although a few have indeed turned French this season. But yes, considering Spain is one of the countries with the most riders in the DB, it kinda needed more teams to take advantage. Good luck!

JJ Navarro on the way back home?
Following the presentation of the new Spanish team Iberia - Comunidad Valenciana, speculations about their roster have started. One name that came up was 20 year old talent Navarro. After winning a stage in the Tour de Maroc last year he might be looking to get into a Spanish project to better develop his skills.

I've always liked the jersey when you've had it as your avatar, so needless to say, I'm a fan of your team.
Best of luck on the Spanish market.

Iberia's teammanager reacts on JJ Navarro romours.
Being a new team means that we will have to work very hard to get a full talented roster before the season starts. Receiving romours from riders who have shown intrest in joining our team is great. Especially when it's from a rider like JJ Navarro. He is Spanish, young and talented. He is the type of rider that would always be welcome to our team. Certainly when he believes that we are the best environment for him to develop his skills.

Iberia - Comunidad Valenciana announces target riders for the upcoming transfer season
The management decided that it's the time to give some more information on the free riders we will be trying to sign in the upcoming off season. Take in mind that this is only about free agents and that we will also be looking to add riders true loans or transfers.
We will start with possible leaders. Joaquin Rodriguez Oliver is a free agent after a good season last year with the dispanded Nestle squad. He rode a good season but age is starting to kick in and we believe that he will no longer be able to compete with the best on PT-level. That's why we hope that he can join our team and lead us to some succesfull results in the Continental Tour.
Rodriguez sprinting to a 7th place overal in the Vuelta al Pais Vasco.
Another rider who we appreciate very much is a Portugese climber. Vitor Rodrigues is a good climber who just lacks the talent to compete with the best at the Pro Tour but should be one of the best climbers in the smaller races.
Rodrigues on the attack on a mountain stage during the Vuelta
Saulo Lay is another Spanish free agent after the disbanding of the Nestlé Cycling Team. Lay is a talented sprinter but was stuck in his previous team behind Tom Boonen. He proved himself as a valuable lead out and we would like to see what he can do as a team leader himself.
There aren't many talented young prospects in the free agents pool, at least not from the countries we are focusing on. Still we see some nice younger riders who we will target. Pello Bilbao is a good puncher and still has some improvement left. Colombian Eduard Alexander Beltran is a guy who in a couple of years will be flying over mountains all accross the world. We don't expect him to become a GT-contentder but he can become a nice attacking climber. David De la Cruz is both a good climber and a good timetrialist. This makes him a future GC contender in all different races. Don't expect him to be the next Madrazo though.
That's it for now. Thanks!

I like it. Rather reasonable targets for a CT team.
Rodriguez and Rodrigues ( ) would both work well as leader for in the CT I think. I reckon you'll have strong competition from a few other teams for the latter one though.

Only 2 Riders that you have highlighted found their way onto my list
But I'm sure the other riders are marked by your other 'rivals' as well.

Well, that was expected Mre. I think we will clash with more than 2 riders during the transferseason. ;-)
Pelli, would be funny if my team were led by the Rodriguez-Rodrigues combo! But getting them, especially the last one will be a tough job indeed.

Iberia - Comunidad Valenciana announces Race Goals for upcoming season
After some work studying the calender, team management has decided which races the team will aim for in the upcoming season. We will start the presentation with the only C1 races between our goals.
Vuelta a Burgos
The 5-day stage race held in Spain is an important race for the team sponsors. Held in Spain, we feel like this is the best place for our team to compete with the PCT teams hoping to get a good result. That good result is a Top 5 in the overall standings after the race.
Clasico San Cristobal
The Clasico San Cristobel, organised in Cuba, is the first Win goal for the team. The race, with it's hilly route and uphill finish is ideal for strong punchers so we hope we can sign someone capable of winning this.
Volta a Galicia
Our second Win goal is again a race in Spain. This is again with support from the sponsors. The 3-day stage race features 2 hilly stages and a mountain top finish and should be perfect for the team leader we hope to sign in the upcoming transfer season.
Cartago - Irazu
Our last race goals is a top 5 goal in a very hard race in Costa Rica. Having 76 climbing kilometres, only the best climbers in the division will be able to win so we will do our best during the transfer season to make sure one of them is in our team.
Top 10 CT Team Standings
This has been said before, we hope to have a competive team that will fight with the best but we don't expect to promote so a top 10 goal is realistic.
This were our goals, they all are quite realistic and I hope we can achieve them all.
