Kissaha did this for PCM11 and i hope he doesnt mind me starting it for PCM12...
I found this really helpful as i was rubbish at keeping a career going, but now i struggle to not do 2seasons
This is a list of ideas that should keep you interested for several seasons (or even just 1 full season)
Not all these ideas are mine, and i will give credit to those who had them originally
both by Kissaha
- Create a 30% custom team with no riders under the age of 30, half of the riders needs to of the same nationality. You are only allowed to sign new riders under 24, and of course half of them needs to be of the same nationality as before. Promote to the WT in max 2 seasons, and win your first monument in 3 seasons. You are also to do a top 5 in a GT in those 3 seasons.
- Be the manager of Garmin. Within 2 seasons you are to half the wages, while also 3/4 of the team has to be from the US. So signing young and unknown riders is recommended. You have to win ToC and USAPCC at least once, take the green jersey in TdF at least once and also win a monument in the first two seasons.
Austria has a two very promising riders in Denifl and Preidler. Create a custom team ( 0% ) with Denifl and Preidler as team leaders. However, if you find this too difficult you can sign either Rohregger or Eibegger, or even both. Österreich Rundfahrt has to be won every year during the save. Do a podium in a GT in minimum 5 years, and also win a monument during those 5 (GdL is recommended). And you are only allowed to sign Austrians, a good scout is very recommended.

Sky - Within the first season win the first 2 of the 5 monuments. Try to win the Yellow and Green Jersey in the same Tour. With Sky getting worldwide recognition, try to promote British cycling even more. In the transfer period sign more than 75% British riders and gradually get 'rid' of your big international talents and depend on results from all your Brits.
EBH is fed up with doing all the job for Cav. Whenever his contract is up he will leave the team immediately, don't renew his contract.
addition; Can't re-sign Froome if you still have Wiggins. Can't re-sign Cavendish if you still have Wiggins.
HTC Revival
The team found the backer and will start again at Pro Conti level. Within 2 years qualify to the WT. 50% of the team has to be American, while the rest can be multi-national. George Hincapie and Matty Hayman wanted to end their careers mentoring younger riders and their opportunity arrived. Those two veterans will teach the younger generation the trade of cycling.
You can extend this scenario really well, but this one should be to each individual to decide his goals etc. Try to repeat the success like the old HTC. Find the new start sprinter and create leadout worthy of High-Road or focus on climbers and try to create US Psotal days again at HTC !

With Vacansoleil win a monument, five Grand Tour stages and any individual classification of a grand tour. Do this whilst knocking a quarter off your wage bill.

Try creating a new German team, and bringing the country back to the top of the sport.
Be a country like Morocco that isn't well known for cyclists, and try and go 100% nationalistic and win the PT, signing youth riders.

Custom team, 30% orientation. Must be 100% italian, can't sign Pozzovivo, Nibali, Scarponi or Cunego. Must podium in Giro in 1st season. Must win Giro in within 3 season. Can only sign italians. Must race all italian races. Win MSR in 2 seasons. win Lombardia in 2seasons
Win all 5 monuments in 1 season, with 1 rider (preferably not Sagan)
Win the TDF with a wild card french team in 1st season (tough but doable)
Win the Giro with a wild card italian team in 1st season
Win the Vuelta with a wild card spanish team in 2nd season
US Postal Revival - 50% orientation. 80%usa nationals. Must sign Hincapie, Leipheimer and VdV. Win TDF in 2 seasons. Win TDF 7 times with one rider. Win a cobbled monument in 3 seasons.
Take a continental German team. In 3 years gain promotion to WT. Must sign T-Mobile as a sponsor as soon as possible. must stay 100% german. Win TDF in 4 seasons.
If you have any ideas post them below! I will move them to this post and credit you.
If you use any of these ideas please let us know how it goes.
Only time I went over 3 seasons was with Europcar, magical career that was. Won the Giro couple of times with Rolland.
I hope I'll go over 3 seasons with my current season (Lotto-Belisol), but I'm confident it'll succeed. You just need riders that you care about, and it can't be too easy nor too hard to get them results, that's the trick
I've gotten to 3 seasons with 3 different teams, but I could never get to the 4th season.
My first time was PCM10 with my custom team, but I signed to many good riders (A. Schleck, Nibali, Kreuziger, Kruiswijk (now with 80 MO), Sicard (79 MO) EBH (83 SP), Swift (81 SP), and Kump (80 COB). That team was way everloaded. It was no fun winning every race
My second time was with Leopard-Trek with PCM11. Didn't make the mistake of overpowering my team, but I just stopped with that career when the 2012 db came out.
My third time was with RSNT with 2012 db for PCM 11. I really enjoyed this carreer, but for some reason couldn't get a top 5 with the Schleck's. In 2012 Andy crashed when I quick simmed a flat stage and Frank took over leadership, He only finished 8th. In 2013, Andy crashed early on a big summit finish halfway through the Tour. I was in 3D, btw. He got up and caught back to the peleton, but on the final second to last climb he has on 99 effort and got dropped from a 60 man peleton. He ended up losing over 11 minutes at the finish. Frank once again took over leadership, but only got 6th. But I did have good success in the other GT's. Kloden finished 2nd in the 2012 Vuelta and 3rd in the 2013 Giro. Fuglsang also finished 2nd in the 2013 Vuelta (with 78 MO, 78 HIL, and 76 TT). I haven't stopped this carreer, in fact I play it for a little once and a while, it's just that I got busy with a story and another carreer in PCM12.

I had one with Sky, in PCM 2010, but it ended because of overpowering. I was a noob when I started it, so no surprises. As for PCM 2012, and I was just practicing with stage-races so far and then I started my story, so I don't have a long one for the new game. I hope my story will last that long.
Being Colombian, normally I create a custom Colombian team or I use a database Colombian one and I try to create a fully South American team. That being said, sometimes I got frustrated if after 2-3 seasons my scouts didn't find any possible great rider and current cyclist started declining. With PCM12, however, things aren't so random since Chaves, Atapuma, Henao and Urán have great perspectives while more young future stars arrive.
Disclaimer: The above post reflects just the personal opinion of the author and not a fact. But if you read it, you must accept it as the ultimate truth.
In 2010 manager with 2012 db i went to 2037.
Sagan and Bo Hagen retired. Sagan at 39 !!!!
only south american could be in the team.
There were some good Columbians all the time
Intrestingly other toptalent countries
Algeria, Ben Yahiya won the tour twice 2031 -2032
and China !!!! maybe this was visionairy of the pcmdb
This guy named Yu had 85 hill and dominated the hillyclassics for 8 years. After that they produced top sprinters on mass.
I found it too much fun that all riders were unknown and there was this whole new cycling universe that i had seen growing. Oh yes in 2022 old Cavendish became WC in Valkenburg in a big breakaway with 15 he won the sprint.
He only managed to hang on in the hills and never took a relay, then won the sprint EPIC HISTORY.
I recommend everybody to get only one career and keep it going.
Then it good stuck because the presentation of new routes delayed 3 days every year. Until the new Paris Nice was announced during the actual race causing a crash
Will make another epic history, when the new pcmdb will come

Nice 1 KOENER !
haha
i think i played the same pcm10 (with 2012 db)
(i tried a couple of carreers with Rabobank, radioshack and BMC)
Then i desided is was time for a "long" career"
I took Vacansoleil
-
year 1 focussing on keeping the sponsers happy, so i could start a heavy transformation of the team in the next year and years to come..
-
i think this was my last Team roster (how i set up my team every year)
:
cobblestone: Kump, Lingwei , Ortuno , D.Kreder, Beckeringh , Phinney
Hills: M.Kreder, Torrealva, Sarmiento, Beatse, Asselman, De Gendt
Vuelta: De La Torre, Ibarrondo, Zamora, Sun Jun, Meca,[spint] Lingwei, Uno, De Gendt, Beatse, (sub) Ortuno
This group dominated 5 years long: Parijs-Roubaix, all hill classics, Giro,Tour and Vuelta
i also had Kreuziger but he was getting to expensive when i didn't have a winning group yet and he was the only one bringing bread to the table.
when i did not extend Roman Kreuziger's contract i made the descission to invest in a younger team that could grow at same rate as the wages were rising.
Gonna try the same tactic in PCM 12 now. But now without the first 3 financial stress years that a Huge rider like roman Kreuziger gives.
I just finished Paris - Roubaix in 2016 (PCM11). Cance (me) beated Oss and Langeveld in a sprint. The trick to a long career is just focussing on one career. Then you will make it.
