Welcome to Quebec, Canada where rain greets the riders for a tough 200kms. Who can ride through the hell to claim the title of
2012 American RR Champion?
The rain is unforgiving as riders are puncturing and crashing left and right.
The struggling to form an opening breakaway was also present early on.
Attempt after attempt, over the race radio you could ever here managers telling RadioShack to stop sending Chris Horner because that was the reason the morning breakaway couldn't get away.
Speaking of which Horner goes again. And again is pulled back...
Eventually, after Horner finally gave up, the peloton settled on letting this 3 man group go; Ángel Vicioso (Pickles312), Andreas Klöden (Moget99),
and Dominique Rollin (CPU).
A few more riders bridged the gap (CPUs) before they started
to pull their advantage out around the 7-8 minute mark.
After hearing their huge advantage over the race radio, BMC (Mresuperstar) and Euskaltel - Euskadi (lluigii) took control of the front of the peloton.
And after some crazy kilometers of chasing which including peloton splits
and more crashes the BMC and Euskadi duo had closed
the gap to a minute heading into the final climb.
Where at first Sanchez attacked and then Evans a few kilometers.
But back in the breakaway ...
Paul Martens (CPU) was making a sprint to the line!
Martens wins the race (passing a lapped rider at the finish). Another (CPU) Grega Bole takes 2nd. But the battle for 3rd was the one that determined our American RR Champion.
It's Cadel Evans (Mresuperstar) Vs. Samuel Sanchez (lluigii)
as Kloden (Moget99) and Vicioso (Pickles312)
are swallowed up on the climb towards the finish!
And it's Cadel Evans hanging on for the win!
Thus making Mresuperstar your 2012 American RR Champion!
Thanks to everyone that competed and
hopefully we will have more members competing next year.
