It's now time to present the award you have been waiting for,
the best cyclist of the year award.

Velo d'Or

www.albertocontadornotebook.info/i/velodor08velomag.jpg

Alberto Contador

This man was on a different level all year and his results can't be beat by any other cyclist this year. And with a high price tag, Contador will be taking his talents to Saxo Bank next season as they reload after the Schleck brothers formed their new team Leopard-Trek.

---

Thank You for sticking around all season,
and we hope to provide another great year in 2011.

2011

Spoiler
After a hard fought season the only thing we have left to do is present
and reward the outstanding achievements that were accomplished
over the last ten months. We will start at the top,
as I would like to give you your 2011 Pro Tour Champions ...

i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff456/mresuperstar3/Award%20Show/1.jpg

Leopard-Trek is the best team in the peloton for the second straight year
if you count Saxo Bank winning the title the last year.
Lead by the Schleck brothers, who collected 46% of their 1406 points,
Leopard can leave the cycling on the highest terms.
With the team dissolving and combinating with RadioShack for next season,
the will be one last celebration of the team.

From the PT to the CT, the battle to be the best in the lower division really wasn't a contest at all. EA-Sony Ericsson rode away right from the start of the season and never looked back. Lead by the Swedish duo of Larsson and Lofkvist, they beat 2nd place Landbouwkrediet by over a 1,000 points.

The make up of the Pro Tour always goes through major changes from year to year with promotion and regulation along with sponsor changes.

Victory count is always interesting to look at, and this year is no different
with 3 riders will share this award with 12 wins each to their names -
Alessandro Petacchi, Fabian Cancellara, Alberto Contador

i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff456/mresuperstar3/Award%20Show/3.jpg

Team wins was just as close with Garmin-Cervelo beating out
Lampre-ISD by just a single a victory. Their new manager
will hopefully continue their winning ways into the 2012 season.

Leaders

i1073.photobucket.com/albums/w390/mresuperstar5/XBox-Mircosoft/Team%20Presentation/lofkvist.jpg

Thomas Lofkvist, 28 years old, from Sweden. Lofkvist, along with now rival Larsson, lead EA-Sony Ericsson easily to promotion last year. He is best known for his attacks through the hills, but now in the PT he has to go to the next level if he wants the same results he achieved in the past two seasons. Be one the lookout for Lofkvist to strike in some early season one-day races along with a few GT breakaways.

Spoiler

i1073.photobucket.com/albums/w390/mresuperstar5/XBox-Mircosoft/Team%20Presentation/chavanel.jpg

Sylvain Chavanel, 32 years old, from France. Chavanel is a dangerous rider in any race he enters. He is one of the best riders on the cobbles and should bring some great results for the classics. Although he is right at the end of his prime, he is a great influence on the team for the way he conducts himself on his bike.

Spoiler
i1073.photobucket.com/albums/w390/mresuperstar5/XBox-Mircosoft/Team%20Presentation/ChavanelStats.jpg

i1073.photobucket.com/albums/w390/mresuperstar5/XBox-Mircosoft/Team%20Presentation/peraud.jpg

Jean-Christophe Peraud, 35 years old, from France. Peraud probably saw his best years end when he rode to 11th overall in the 2011 Tour de France, as the off season wasn't very nice to him. He certainly could win a few smaller races but his main concern will be to help fellow countryman Brice Feillu develop into the next climbing leader for XBox-Mircosoft.

Ian Butler
Awesome reports.
But explain me something, do you control all 3 teams? Or is it one big career and you control only one?

fernando97
He controls only Garmin, and reports from the others races also.

Ian Butler
Oh yeah, now I see it Smile
Great idea, a triple thread for one career, thrice the fun Pfft

Mresuperstar
That is correct, for full race reports it will be best to follow Garmin but XBox and Sony Ericsson will give side angles/back stories to the stages. Thus bringing a different side of events that has never really been done before in a story.

Hope everyone enjoys this new way of reporting for the season.
Also make sure you are in the right thread when congratulating a result. Wink

The goal is to have all 3 stories stand on their own, but if you want a more in-depth view of a stage/tour/recap/etc then all you would need to do is look at the other two threads to seek out more information.

I hope team xBox - Microsoft will have many windows of opportunities this season (you get it?) Pfft

Stages:

18 January – Stage 2 – Lobethal to Stirling (148km)
19 January – Stage 3 – Unley to Victor Harbor (134.5km)
20 January – Stage 4 – Norwood to Tanunda (130km)
21 January – Stage 5 – McLaren Vale to Old Willunga Hill (151.5km)
22 January – Stage 6 – Elder Park, Adelaide (51km)

Squad:

The team has brought one of the strongest line ups here to Australia lead by longtime EA-Sony Ericsson favourite Thomas Löfkvist. Some other names you might recognize if you were familiar with last years team are Andrew Talansky and Taylor Phinney. They will look to battle it out in the sprints and Talansky could be a dark horse for the overall after seeing what he could do on the hills last year. However both of them will probably be the lead out for Michael Matthews. Completing the 7 man team are Danny Pate, Dominique Rollin and the Aussie veteran Robbie McEwen.

Santos Tour Down Under: Stage 2

~ Post-Race Interview By A Local Journalist

With Michael Matthews

A strong showing by the team today with you, Lofkvist, and Talansky all finishing in the top 10, with you getting the highest finish between the three of you. However today was a hilly stage, shouldn't have Lofkvist been given the leader role?

He was... the problem was the race quickly turned into sprint rather than a chance for Lofkvist to attack so I took over to fly the flag for Australia. And the crowd sure did like that. I'm very happy my teammates were right behind me as it makes this result look really good for the team.

Does that mean Lofkvist still holds the reins of the team when you reach Old Wilunga Hill on stage 5?

Of course, no question in my mind. He is a great puncheur and the captain.

One last question, who is going to produce the first XBox-Microsoft victory?

Haha, hopefully me. But as long as it comes soon I won't care. Well I will care a little bit... management promised a steak dinner to whoever did get that elusive first win.

Thanks for your time. Get that hometown victory!
