while most are desgined for pcm11, i havnt found any difference in pcm12

there aren´t actually a lot of tips or tricks there and most are from 2 or 3 (or more) versions back anyway.

As for the question : It´s pretty straight forward, isn´t it ? Blue bar (remaining distance) has to finnish at the same as the green bar (energy). Just start at 70 effort (default anyway) and adjust every once in a while.
I personally prefer to start at 67,68 and then if i have spare energy i adjust upwards.
The tougher the course (little climbs etc) the more carefull you have to be. I´d rather go 65 on the flat and then 75 on the climb than the other way round.

as i said there is no major difference between recent versions

The rest is good, if may make one addition

For a prologue start at 75-80
For 20-40km start at 70
For 40+ start at 65
This gives you room to adjust, and means you should go quicker over the final half of the course, which i find usually means a better time as the AI drops off massivly
