Team Saxo Bank has been on the decline for some years now. The team recoverd from the loss of the Schleck brothers and Cancellara with the addition of Contador and he was able to give them a GT victory in the 2011 Giro but then the Clenbuterol case came and Contador got suspended untill August 2012. Saxo Bank didn't have any money for a new leader so the team so Chris Anker Sorensen, Nick Nuyens and Juan Jose Haedo will be counted on to get points. Right before the season, Russian billionaire Oleg Tinkov, who is in love with cycling and had his own team before announced Tinkoff Bank would become the new second sponsor of the team. The money input came late in the transfer season so the team's only addition is Roman Kreuziger who was lured away from Team Astana.

Alberto Contador
Alberto Contador is ofcourse the best GC rider in the whole peloton. Three time winner of the Tour de France, Two time winner of the Giro and one-time Vuelta winner. He will miss untill August due to his suspension because of the Clenbuterol case but will come back trying to win the Vuelta for a 2nd time.
Roman Kreuziger
Roman Kreuziger has been one of the biggest talent in the peloton for some years now. He showed that winning races like Switzerland and Romandie while also finishing in the top 10 in both the Giro and Tour but most say that his progression has stopped. Let's hope Riis can do as he has done multiple times before, get the best ouf of a very talented rider. Roman will peak to the Giro and the Tour.
Nick Nuyens
Nick Nuyens always has been one of the best cobbles riders in the peloton but could never fully compete with the best in the biggest races. That was untill he joined Saxo Bank last year. Trained by Riis, he made the next step and won last year's Ronde van Vlaanderen in a brilliant fashion. His goal this year is ofcourse to defend his title in his favourite race.
Chris Anker Sörensen
Chris Anker Sorensen is the best Danish rider in the team. He is a good climber but lacks some TT-skills to be a good GT-contender so he will try to fight for the polka dot jersey for the best climber in the Tour de France.

Last pre-season announcements
The season is about to get underway so the team has some last things to share with the team.
First, the team has announced the full team roster. Contador obviously will only be available from the 8th of August.
The team has also announced which races we will be participating in. Our three aussies will start with the Australian national championships. The Santos Tour Down Under, the first pro tour event of the season, is the only other race we will be participating in.

Thanks!! I hope this one lasts as long as the Geox story and get's as much followers!
Australian National Championships
The road race in Australia is always a lottery cause it is this early in the season and because only one team has a full roster. That's why we put someone in the breakaway. Tanner was part of the early break with some others like Dempster, Renshaw, Clarke. They created a good advantage and were only brought back by the top favourites on top of the last hill. Evans put in a last dig and Tanner had the energy to follow him. Sitting in the wheel of Evans, Tanner easily passed the TdF champion to take the victory. Evans finished second just holding off a bigger group with the remains of the early break and the other favourites.
Top 5
The team didn't have any good time trialists so the best we could do was 21st for Tanner. The win went to Evans who already showed some good form here in these two races.
Top 5
These championships went way better as expected. Tanner played it smart and can now wear his national jersey all season!

Ekhm...officialy I must say it: "I'm sux!" 4 years of playing PCM and I have troubles with winning on hard. Except Vuelta by Contador (with 10'32" infront of second Rodriguez). And u are winning on expert! By Tanner! After outsprinting Evans! After breakaway!
Eh...winning by Contador with 85MO, 81HIL, 79 TT didn't give me satisfaction. I want winning by Valverde, Kreuziger...but im sux! Always when im in breakaway I lost much energy and if small group finishes im always last...
Contgratulations! And sorry for my baaaad english |

Thanks for my first banana!! krzychu92, one advice, play a lot. That's how you get better! And btw, winning the Vuelta with 10' on hard is certainly not bad.

The Santos Tour Down Under is the first pro tour event of the season. Seen as a race for sprinters, the 5th stage over Willunga Hill is always decisive. The finish this year lays on top of the hill so the punchers should have a good chance to take the overal. Mollema, Monfort and Carrara should be the best but we have to wait to see their form so early in the season. We have a good squad here but only Sorensen should be able to go for a top 10. The other riders will try to get in some breaks while Cantwell can go for his own in the sprints.

Thanks, glad to hear you like it so far!
Santos Tour Down Under: Stage 1
The Santos Tour Down Under starts with a flat stage. The Sprinters will probably get their first chance so we will try to get someone in the break. Cantwell will wait for the sprint but his chances are slim.
12 riders form the break of the day. We have one guy in it. Morkov is in there but doesn't take any points at the first intermediate or the KoM-sprint.
He is positioned well before the second intermediate and jumps to the front at the right time to take some valuable seconds and points.
The break was brought back by the teams of the top sprinters but Morkov still had some energy left and went for it with 5 km to go. Unfortunately, he was brought back with 2 km to go.
The sprint for the win was rather strange. All favourite's went too early and lost speed near the end except for Petacchi who timed his jump perfectly and took a commanding win. Cantwell finished on the 12th place.
Top 5
GC
Morkov had a good try in the last 5 km's. He failed and the stage ended on a sprint so we knew we were not going to get a high result. Still, we can be satisfied by Cantwell's good 12th place.

Santos Tour Down Under: Stage 2
The second stage finishes on a hill in Stirling. That hill is climbed 3 times before so the punchers should fight it out for the win here. Sorensen can get a good result but we still want someone in the break.
Juul Jensen was in a one men break for a while untill Greipel decided to counter him. Knowing the strength of the German, Morkov followed him and we had 2 guys in the early break.
Juul Jensen worked his ass off for his teammate and the trio in the front still has more as 2' advantage over the peloton when they start the last descent.
Starting the last ascent of the hill towards Stirling, Morkov takes the front and easily drops Juul Jensen and Greipel. The pack is closing fast however.
Four riders have attacked out of the pack. Seeldraeyers, Monfort, Devenyns and Martens start the last km with 40" disadvantage over Morkov.
They closed in very fast but Morkov ultimately held over 10" to take a nice victory and the leader's jersey!
Sorensen was the fastest in the end and takes 6th on the stage. The Danish Champion brought in the peloton 47" behind his teammate.
Top 5
GC
Very smart riding by our duo in front to take a very nice win. Morkov now holds the leader's jersey and we will defend it although it will be tough to keep it till the end.
