Hello there!
It's me, Lukas. You know, the new Sports Director of Team Barclays Umbro. We are a British team with big ambitions to challenge Team Sky to be the biggest British team. We have got a large budget to operate with from our lovely sponsors Barclays, Umbro and Scott. But we have to hurry, it's the 25th of December so we just got a week to sign our squad. That means, no Christmas for me.
We will try to sign riders like Cavendish, Wiggins and so on but it will be hard. I think they are pretty satisfied to be in Sky at the moment, but we will do our best!
I have started to negotiate with some riders but I wont tell you any name before everything is done. But I can gladly tell you that we already have signed three riders!
We can say welcome to David Millar, Dan Martin and Gustav Larsson!
It will be a pleasure to work with them.
Well, I think I should present our sponsors a bit more.
Barclays will be our main sponsor this season. Here comes some facts about them.
Barclays is a British multinational banking and financial services company headquartered in London, United Kingdom. It has operations in over 50 countries and territories across Africa, Asia, Europe, North America and South America and around 48 million customers. As of 31 December 2010 it had total assets of US$2.33 trillion, the fourth-largest of any bank worldwide.
In sports does Barclays already sponsor the best football league in Europe: Barclays Premier League. Now they feel to try their luck in the fantastic cycling sport too.
Umbro is our second sponsor. Umbro is famous for their fantastic football equipment. It was founded by the great Harold Humphreys and his brother.
Scott will be our bike sponsor. They are doing equipment for a lot of sports. Me self has a Scott-bike and it's great, of course!
Well that was everything for me today. I will update you with our transfers and sponsor goals. See you and have a nice Christmas day!

27 of December
Good morning everyone!
I have some great news! Yesterday we signed eight more riders! Today I will be pretty busy because I'll have some contract talks with two superstars in Team Sky! Which can it be?
I think you are pretty curious to see which riders I've signed. Here you got them - Samuel Dumoulin, Geraint Thomas, Lars Bak, David Zabriske, Peter Kennaugh, Stephen Cummings, Kanstantsin Siutsou and the great youngster Joseph Dombrowski!
I think we can sign three more riders before the day has ended! Can't wait until the season starts!
See you!
// Lukas

Hey again! Sorry that I didn't updated you with my newest transfers yesterday. Three days left before everything needs to be finished. Right now we have seventeen riders, that means, we've signed six more riders!
The riders are - Thomas De Gendt, Filippo Pozzato, Ben Swift, Vasil Kyriyenka, Taylor Phinney and "the new Cavendish", Andrew Fenn.
In four days we will get our sponsor goals, so exiting!

Hello! Sorry for late update.. Our team is fully completed now and we have done some real great signings! Maybe to good?
I had two days contract-negotiations with Cavendish and Wiggins. Unfortunately Wiggins said no but from Cavendish we got a very positive answer! But we'll have to give everything. Cavendish has a clause that means if we not getting promoted this first season, he will join another team.
Instead om Wiggins we signed Froome who did it great in last years Vuelta a España.
We did also sign the world champion in ITT, Tony Martin. Michael Albasini, Lars Boom, Brice Feillu, Lieuwe Westra and Sep Vanmarcke was our last five signings.
I will in some minutes present you our sponsor goals and show you our jersey!
Regards

Yeah! I'll kill myself if we don't get promoted!
Full team:
Sponsor goals:
As you can see we have to search for a wild card in many races. We will begin with searching a wild card in the first tour this season - Tour Down Under.
If we receive a wild card to the Giro d'Italia our team will be built around Chris Froome with a great domestique in Thomas De Gendt.
Thomas De Gendt will two months before the Giro be our leader in Paris - Nice.
In TdF our team will be built around Mark Cavendish. We'll probably have seven team mates for Mark and then probably Dan Martin who's going for some stages wins.
In La Vuelta we will be going all in for Chris Froome. |

We have no rider who could participate in the Australian Championships but here are top five from the ITT and the road race.
ITT:
1. Richie Porte
2. Cadel Evans
3. Michael Matthews
4. Rory Sutherland
5. Luke Durbridge
Road race:
1. Simon Gerrans
2. Richie Porte
3. Matthew Lloyd
4. Michael Matthews
5. Matthew Hayman
For some minuets ago I received an email about TDU. It said that we got a wild card! Wonder who's gonna ride for us...
I'll start playing the first stage in some minutes.

Agree. The team is OP but I'm "UP". If it's getting to easy I will put the difficulty to extreme. |

Race preview
It's a day for the sprinters. Our goal for today is to be in the top 10. I think that Ben Swift will have the best chances to do that so the team will be riding for him today.
Race:
Today we were starting in Prospect. After 20km did Bouhanni attack. Eleven men did follow him and the first breakaway of the season were created.
Breakaway: Spoiler Ted King
Marcus Burghardt
Jeremy Hunt
Pablo Urtasun
Maxime Vantomme
Frederik Veuchelen
Damien Gaudin
Francisco Ventoso
Nacer Bouhanni
Claudio Corioni
Dominic Klemme
Stijn Vandenbergh
After 74km was is time for the first intermediate sprint. After a very hard fight with Corione did Klemme take the 6 point.
First intermediate sprint: Spoiler 1. Klemme 6p
2. Corioni 4p
3. Hunt 2p
Only 9km later was it time for the first, and the only mountain sprint on this stage. Burghardt was the only one who attacked and claimed maximum points.
Mountain sprint: Spoiler 1. Burghardt 16p
2. Vandenbergh 12p
3. Vantomme 8p
4. King 6p
5. Veuchelen 4p
When the peloton reached the summit they were only 3'30 behind.
With 45km to go the breakaway reached the second intermediate sprint for today. Once again was Klemme the fastest.
Second intermediate sprint: Spoiler 1. Klemme 6p
2. Hunt 4p
3. Burghardt 2p
With 20km to go had the breakaway been catch. With 5km to go had Larsson and Dumoulin found a great position at the front but Swift was a bit down and Larsson had to wait.
With 1.5km to go did Haussler launch the sprint for Tyler Farrar who was in a great position.
With 600m left did Farrar launch his sprint (damn missed that pic) but he was challenged by Greipel.
After a very hard sprint was Greipel the strongest!
Greipel takes the stage and the leader jersey!

Tour Down Under stage 2:
Race preview
Today there's a hilly stage. Our expectations is on Samuel Dumoulin today. But it will be tough because riders like Vinokourov and Cunego does participate. It's a little chance that Swift will survive the hills but he will do his best! Our goals for today stage is to be in top15 at the finishing line.
Race
Already after 9km was a breakaway group formed. Sulzberger did the attack and he was followed by eleven riders.
Breakaway: Spoiler Wesley Sulzberger
Frederik Veuchelen
Juan Antonio Flecha
Jesus Herrada
Nikolas Maes
William Bonnet
Troels Rönning Vinther
Ruggero Marzoli
Roy Curvers
Gatis Smukulis

3. Flecha 2p
At the mountain sprint with 100km to go was Bonnet the fastest in front of Marzoli and Herrada.
Mountain sprint: Spoiler 1. Bonnet 16p
2. Marzoli 12p
3. Herrada 8p
4. Sulzberger 6p
5. Maes 4p
But when the peloton reached the top were they only five minutes behind, it looked really bad for the breakaway.
At the second intermediate time was Bonnet the fastest man again.
Second intermediate sprint: Spoiler 1. Bonnet 6p
2. Sulzberger 4p
3. Vinther 2p
The breakaway was catch with 40km to go, 5km later we decided to attack with Larsson.
Unfortunately did he never get a big gap and was catch 17km from the finish.
With 6.5km remaining did Rui Costa attack. He had Cunego and Marcato on his wheel. We decided to stay in the peloton and hope that someone will catch the breakaway group.
With 4.3km to go did Haussler an attack. Only Pietropolli, Perez and Kiserlovski where able to follow. Once again we decided to stay in the peloton. At the front had Cunego rode away from Marcato and Costa who was in the peloton again.
With 1.7km left did the young Australian Michael Matthews attack. We were sleeping and missed the attack but Kennaugh did set a high pace in the main group.
With 1km to the finishing line did the front group of Cunego, Perez, Kiserlovski and Matthews launch their sprint. Who will win?
Kiserlovski wins! He was fantastic in the sprint and the other had no chance. Great start on the season for the Croatian climber. Matthews came in second place and Perez took third.
35 seconds later did Daniel Oss cross the line at fifth place and in sixth place were Peter Kennaugh who did an amazing sprint. Great start for Kennaugh. Unfortunately had Dumoulin a '-3' day so he did not have the legs in the final sprint. Cummings did also a great sprint and was at place ten.
Kiserlovski takes the stage and the lead in the GC.

2nd Michael Matthews (Rabobank).
3rd Rubén Pérez (Euskaltel).
My words - Our goal was to have one rider in top 15. We had three riders in the top 15!? Great stage and everybody should be proud. The only misstake we did was when we didn't followed Matthews attack with 1.7km remaining. Tomorrow is a sprint stage and we hope that Swift can be able to surprise us. |

Damn... The game did crash so I couldn't take pictures after the race. Anyway, Larsson won the only mountain sprint and came in second place at the first intermediate sprint. At the second intermediate sprint was Phinney first with Dumoulin in third. 13.5km to go was it a huge crash in the peloton with riders like Vinokourov and Burghardt involved. Luckily, no rider from Barclays Umbro were involved.
In the sprint was it really close between Goss and Ciolek but Ciolek was the strongest and won with Goss in second and Lighart in third. Swift did a good sprint and got tenth place. |

With 42km to go did Izagirre attack! He had Rast, Madrazo and Tosatto on his wheel.

But the peloton rode fast. At the top had the peloton 25 seconds to Phinneys group and 1'10 to Danny Pate. But what happends? The breakaway is increasing it's speed and with 14km to go is the gap to Phinneys group 50 seconds and the gap to Pate 1'20. Can they hold on?
No unfortunately did they catch the breakaway with 8km left.
With 1.5km left had Farrar an awesome position behind Haussler. Swift was gone long way back in the field.
Farrar did launch his sprint with 800m left. But Matthews and Ciolek were coming fast from behind.
And Ciolek wins it!!! An enormous sprint by the German. Swift was a huge disappointment.
