So, Burgos and Urkiola completed the run of 5 consecutive HC races. And as predicted those races have really affected the rankings.
Burgos Points:
Spoiler Team Bianchi | 465 | Team CSC-Orbea | 206 | Cerne | 160 | California Giant Berry Farms-Specialized | 152 | VolksWagen - Siemens | 140 | Pokerstars.com | 137 | Ferrari - ERG | 133 | Emu Export | 130 | T.CS Bank - OJSC Rosneft | 127 | UniCredit | 108 | Pirelli - Alfa Romeo | 94 | Team Trilux - Falke | 88 | Aker Solutions - Bergans | 75 | Team Rothaus - Aegon | 23 |
Urkiola Points
Spoiler Vespa - Aprilia - De Rosa | 159 | Aker Solutions - Bergans | 151 | Team CSC-Orbea | 87 | Ferrari - ERG | 87 | Team Venchi ProCycling | 82 | Pirelli - Alfa Romeo | 58 | Saab-Scania | 48 | T.CS Bank - OJSC Rosneft | 37 | Hollister Pro Cycling | 36 | Team WWE | 31 | Emu Export | 17 | Team Bpost | 10 | Cerne | 9 |
Total points from all 5 HC races
Spoiler Team Bianchi | 914 | Team Venchi ProCycling | 878 | Cerne | 570 | Team CSC-Orbea | 514 | California Giant Berry Farms-Specialized | 486 | Team Trilux - Falke | 470 | Vespa - Aprilia - De Rosa | 447 | Emu Export | 447 | Aker Solutions - Bergans | 428 | T.CS Bank - OJSC Rosneft | 376 | Pirelli - Alfa Romeo | 326 | UniCredit | 316 | Ferrari - ERG | 288 | Team WWE | 287 | Cyclevox | 263 | VolksWagen - Siemens | 211 | Proximus - Trek | 210 | Team Puma - SAP | 147 | Team Rothaus - Aegon | 146 | Saab-Scania | 137 | Pokerstars.com | 137 | Rapha Condor - Qhubeka | 101 | Focused Cycling | 101 | Jayco - Red Bull | 99 | Koppert Cycling Team | 89 | Team Bpost | 74 | Hollister Pro Cycling | 50 | Oz Cycling Project | 24 | Meiji - Fuji | 0 |
Bianchi really have taken command now. They may only have 24 race days to go, compared to Rapha's 50 - but theyve taken on a big lead which will be very hard to chase down.
And the promotion battle is really coming alive with the California Giant team closing in on Jayco - Red Bull, who will be starting to come under pressure a little while they distract themselves with PT Wildcards, while Alarcon leads Aker over 3000 points also. But Alarcon has just 8 race days left - do they have the firepower to maintain the promotion challenge without him?
Pokerstars and Venchi hold what are likely to be the 2 remaining promotion positions but VolksWagen, Pirelli, TCS Bank, Vespa, Trilux and Bpost are all still close to them. All therefore need some strong results still.
And the battles continue all the way down the table, as highlighted by all the arrow changes that have happened from just Burgos and Urkila!
1 | 1 | | | Team Bianchi | 4289 | 2 | 2 | | | Rapha Condor - Qhubeka | 3558 | 3 | 3 | | | Jayco - Red Bull | 3442 | 4 | 4 | | | California Giant Berry Farms-Specialized | 3326 | 5 | 5 | | | Aker Solutions - Bergans | 3115 | 6 | 6 | | | Pokerstars.com | 2953 | 7 | 7 | | | Team Venchi ProCycling | 2892 | 8 | 8 | | | VolksWagen - Siemens | 2706 | 9 | 10 | | | Pirelli - Alfa Romeo | 2662 | 10 | 11 | | | T.CS Bank - OJSC Rosneft | 2643 | 11 | 13 | | | Vespa - Aprilia - De Rosa | 2600 | 12 | 12 | | | Team Trilux - Falke | 2565 | 13 | 9 | | | Team Bpost | 2529 | 14 | 15 | | | Emu Export | 2243 | 15 | 16 | | | Hollister Pro Cycling | 2118 | 16 | 14 | | | Team Puma - SAP | 2111 | 17 | 18 | | | UniCredit | 2014 | 18 | 17 | | | Team Rothaus - Aegon | 1952 | 19 | 19 | | | Saab-Scania | 1948 | 20 | 23 | | | Ferrari - ERG | 1855 | 21 | 20 | | | Proximus - Trek | 1738 | 22 | 21 | | | Team WWE | 1737 | 23 | 22 | | | Koppert Cycling Team | 1682 | 24 | 26 | | | Team CSC-Orbea | 1671 | 25 | 27 | | | Cerne | 1531 | 26 | 24 | | | Cyclevox | 1506 | 27 | 25 | | | Focused Cycling | 1449 | 28 | 28 | | | Meiji - Fuji | 1063 | 29 | 29 | | | Oz Cycling Project | 1012 |

Which leaves the Individual Stanindgs. Alarcon leads, but I fancy the chances of Di Maggio securing the overall standings.

Going down the ladder...
My planning to be mainly in European races shows to be not that good. Top10 in Europe is great. Ahead of Rapha.
But being close to the promotion spots obviously needs to be better in the other continents.
Plus I had some bad luck with Boom and Vantomme in the last months, where I had expected more points. |

Doing way better in term of team ranking when it comes to America tour. Oh well.
Edit: If I remember correctly, I picked all the races in the American tour. Did I do that? And if so, am I the only one to do that?

I´m quite satisfied with that, i can´t see falling out of the Top10 in Europe with my line-ups for the Deutschland Tour and the Tour of Britian. Staying in the Top15 overall should be possible as well and now i even have the two best Germans in the CT.

Yeah the 'up' arrow But I'm most certainly going to fail my last goal because finishing in the top 10 is way to far out of reach

This is bad, really bad. Top 10 will be extremely hard to achieve now, since only Roche got a couple of race days left and my expectations for him to deliver is non existing.

Hollister are in them all aswell.
And really, not sure what Emu, Proximus and Puma were thinking with that. Why choose an America Tour goal, if you dont then enter all America Tour races?

Well CalGiant keep slithering up on me and with them, Aker Sols, VolksWagen, Vespa and Pirelli in action in Colorado - I will certainly be looking at the race in particular. Not that any of those five teams did much on the opening stage, in fact Nazaret winning was a blow for any of the five to rack up cheap early stage race points.
CalGiant I think will set a benchmark for promotion points because by my count following Colorado they will have had around 160 or their 175 race days. I think we can hold off Aker - Alarcon I believe has one more race in Swaziland, though I am a litle nervous about their hopes in the Tour of America. In that race though I wonder, Emu export could make a startling late dash toward a promotion spot?
But the Di Maggio star is the emerging star of the year here, Alarcon we all knew about but who the hell was Di Maggio a low key 535,000 signing by Venchi at the beginning of the year. Rescued from the pink hell at webeffect.
All to plan in the Asian Tour, as soon as I heard about that goal I targetted the type of riders that would pull off a reasonable points yield. Gambling that the only teams that would go for an Asian tour goal would be xenophobic new teams (Oz Cycling and Meiji) and heavily reforming squads (Emu export).
It does look like it will be a thrilling race to the end of the season, Bianchi have pulled their fingers out and given Rapha a proper title challenge ahead of the fading (and unlikely) JRB powder puff squad. We have 10 to 12 teams squabbling for for 5 or 6 promotiuon spots behind Bianchi. Then of course we have the bragging rights behind that right down to the Meiji/Oz Cycling dog fight. Great stuff.

Venchi will definitely promote, having lots of race days left for Di Maggio. For us, it all comes down to what our other leaders can do. Tour of Colorado and Tour of America are keys for Vasquez/Agudelo, while Alarcon needs to shine 2 final times, in Swaziland and Emillia. Though, I have a bad feeling about Swaziland, seeing how other stage races outside Europe have played out. Our team isn't very strong to support Alarcon there, but we his team mates have delivered time after time. I can only hope for one final great race from him and the team there, while Emillia will be a lottery between Alarcon and Roux I think
Edit: And great to see another ranking update, SN!

Well, we gained a few places at least.
No doubt that we'll drop in the final part of the season though. Really wish I had been smarter than building the team completely around Caruso. The lack of other top riders in the squad kills our chances.

Is it possible/allow to give up of promotion spot to another team´s favour?
Regarding to rankings, Bianchi made a huge step for overall winning, though Rapha still have way more race days left. 3rd place for JRB seems to be secure to me. I think everything is open from 4th place, with so many teams willing to fight for TOP 5. Aker has the highest PperRD rate atm, it can change easily very soon though. I´m not very confident about chances of my team, as Rujano already closed his season and I don´t believe my sprinters will make enough of points. Still looking forward to rest of season very very much!

Well, usually every team wants to promote. Were you thinking that you don't want to?

Well, I´d be happy to fight for reaching place out of relegation in PT next season (most likely unsuccessful ) if I finish on place securing direct promotion in this season. Promotion just because of "green table decision" (due to inactivity of some PT managers) is not very challenging though.
Which means I fell a bit confused. If no miracle happen, I´ll probably finish at about 6-8th place, which should mean that less popular kind of promotion...

Come on. A Top 5 in the Asian Rankings would have been nice.... Just 14 points to achieve our Asian Tour Rankins goal (and probably only goal of the season)
But pleasantly surprised to be middle of the pack in Africa

top 5 in the America Tour standings was one of my goals as well. No Tour of America for us though, so I'm not sure we can hold on to that goal. I suppose that make Colorado that much more important for us.
Rather than chasing JRB I think it's more important to batten down the hatches and hold off Aker. If we can do that then promotion is ours.
I still want stage wins. Given that the man who has half of my stage wins this season only has one race left, that 1 of the other stage wins were bolts out of the blue, and theirs been only one each from the team leaders who still have races to go, I'm not optimistic. Sometimes I dream back to the days when I looked like a genius for buying Haedo, because he won about a dozen stages that year I also miss the days when Sinner won 4 stages in one season. Numpty.
Four more stage races left. Colorado, where I sent a team of traditionally overachieving riders (hoping, of course, that they continue to overachieve), then the Tour of Britain which is a course that doesn't really suit Samuel Sanchez, Then Franco-Belge with Haedo (who will be outclassed in all 4 stages, without a doubt) and finally Herald Sun to wrap it all up, where Koren will be expected to perform once more.
If I'm honest, though, the only goal I'm worried about is the "Beat the Canadian" Goal

Not many point scoring races for Vespa to come, so I think we'll do well to scrape into the top 10.
I'm interested to see that with some good performances in his last 3 races - Ginanni might actually outscore Pozzovivo.
Looking at the top 2 in the individual rankings seems evident they had too mant race days relative to their potential to gain points. |
