2012 sees the inaugraul Tour de Delhi hit the Continental Tour.
The riders face seven laps of a pancake flat circuit, featuring a frankly ridiculous 50m of elevetaion change over 105km. The racing should be fast and furious and should almost definitely come down to a sprint.
Nine teams are here to compete for victory, and the absolute standout favourite has to be Daniele Bennati (Puma - SAP ). He's the finest sprinter in the world along with Tom Boonen (and, dare I say, Theo Bos), and with Thomas Kvist and Enrico Gasparotto as leadout, he's be a tough nut to beat.
His biggest challengers are Erik Mohs (Team Pokerstars.com ) and Mark Cavendish (Proximus - Trek ). But you can't discount some of the second string sprinters, such as Mark Renshaw (The Oz Cycling Project ) and Matheiu Drujon (Focused Cycling ).

Time for Baden Cooke to repeat his success he had in India earlier this season (2nd in Mumbai I).. a Top 5 would be fine for me with Bennati, Mohs and maybe Cav battling for the win (most probably).

Surprise, surprise...Don`t see Vantomme...
Seriously, I spent quite a long time on the race planning but somehow missed every single sprinter classic.
Probably due to the fact that I focused mainly on European races and all the sprinter classics are mainly in Asia. Still disappointing. |

You're not the only one roturn, as there is far less opposition to Bennati than I thougt.
Suprised to see a sprinters classic without Corioni, Napolitano, Maksimov, and obviously Vantomme, who I'd liked to battle more often than these few times.
So podium is an absolute must, most probably together with Mohs and Cav, as these three seem to stand quite a bit above the rest.

I brought two 80´s sprinters with absolutely no lead-out around them. I´m really curious how AI will handle with that Bennati surely winner I guess, podium place would be nice addition for me.

Going to be tough to break the podium, but given a weak startlist there are chances for me her to post a decent result.
A report from Crommy - how long has it been? Scouting the CTour no doubt!

Darn, I was hoping for a weaker startlist, so that maybe Arashiro could get a decent result.

Considering how badly Oz Cycling have been doing of late and how dominent Bennati has been it is hard to be disappointed with the way the race turned out. A very good race by Pokerstars too, which really helps them.
Possibly the lack of top quality chasers (or lack of riders in general) led to it being won by punchy types.
For JRB it was the usual safety in numbers type of strategy - a top five would have been nice but I will settle for five points scorers a consequence of a small field no doubt.

Good race for Oz and also Meiji here I think.
Disappointing for Puma of course, who have controlled all the races normally. |

Top 5, great result after looking at the startlist! Arashiro even beat Cavendish
The race played out pretty well, but I'm disapointed that Manan went in the break.

Just as Smowz said, Oz had some very disappointing months and that makes this win as brillaint as Bobrdige's win earlier this season. Great effort by Ford and also nice to see Simon Clarke adding a Top-10 here.. very important race for our Asian rankings as well. Wow, this made my day

Really surprising that the win came from a late attack, I was sure that we'll have a Benna... I mean a bunch sprint here. Congrats to Oz.

Oh, you're kidding me....just do fucking 20 seconds of additional work and don't refuse to do anything better than 38, 47, 51, 53, 54, 55 in a race of 63!
3rd is okay in a way, but taking 46 points out of a race where half of the starters get points....
Congratulations to Oz though, deserved to take it after such a horrible game bug.
And thanks Crommy, nice report

I hoped for something better by Hushovd, atleast a top 10 shouldn´t been so hard.
Wellwell, time for Swaziland. |
