Hey everyone,
I was just thinking the other day, if I could pick a team for the Tour de France, who would it be? I know my team is overpowered by stars, but here it is!
Cadel Evans- Leader
Luis Leon Sanchez- Helper/2nd Leader
Mark Cavendish- Sprinter
Thor Hushovd- Leadout/2nd Sprinter
Fabian Cancellara- Stage Wins/Leadout
Sylvain Chavanel- Domestique
Lars Boom- Domestique
Lars Bak- Domestique
If you guys just want to leave your suggestions of who you think would make the best team for a Tour de France then join in and name your riders! It doesn't matter how many stars your team has or how many unknowns!

I think for this tour your selection is perfect but I would prefer EBH insted of Hushovd and LL isn't that good anymore so then I would say Uran |

yeh good choice! I like Hushovd because I think he could be a good sprinter on some of the hilly stages but then again I don't really follow Eddy so I'm not sure how he'd compare to Hushovd! and I think he's still pretty decent. He'd be good enough to just help Cadel on some of the mountain stages don't you think?

yes, LL did well yesterday, but that's a exception, he doesn't win that often an other race.... |

This looks like a good team! Sanchez did well in last year's tour and i see you've gone back to the HTC days with the sprint train!! Also Igor Anton, Fabian Cancellara and Andreas Kloden are good choices! Vanendert came 20 odd places off Cadel last year so thats a pretty damn good team!!

All right, let's give it a try :
Mark Cavendish
Peter Sagan
Fabian Cancellara
Andy Schleck
Cadel Evans
Vincenzo Nibali
Thomas Voeckler
Samuel Sanchez Gonzalez
Bradley Wiggins
Should be enough to win prologue, sprint stages, breakaway stages, hilly stages, mountain stages with mountain or descent finish, individual time trials and team time trials. I could have included Tony Martin, who was better than Cancellara last year, but Cancellara is a better helper (more all arounder IMO), both are currently injured anyway. All distinctive jerseys (bar the white one, except maybe if I'd have Sagan going for it) too. |

That would be my team, bar probably Boonen or Gilbert replacing Voekler.

Like you said, sure to win at least one jersey, if not, all of them!! The only thing I'd suggest is maybe a good flat rider for a sprint train but i guess you've got enough there with Cancellara, Peter Sagan etc. Good team man!

I agree but that's the whole point of it! All the teams should be unrealistic cause of the fact that they're dream teams! So You can get as unrealistic as you want as long as you don't have every single GC man such as Evans, Schleck's Contador etc.

Quite a good team! Personally, I'd choose a different sprinter and lead out other than Kittel and Degenkolb but apart from that its quite a good team!

Hmm lets give this a try.
Cadel Evans - Leader
Samuel Sanchez - Co-Leader
Levi Leiphimer - Mountains Help
Tyler Farrar - Sprinter
Edvald Boasson Hagen - Leadout / Stage Wins / Young Rider
Peter Sagen - Leadout / Stage Wins / Young Rider
Tony Martin - Time Trial / Tempo Pushing
David Zabriskie - TT / Tempo
Alejandro Valverde - Free Element
(Some favoritism for the US, could easily take Cav over Farrar, Levi is getting old, but I still think he is a top 10 rider if he can stay healthy, and big Z could get changed for Cancellara)
