Welcome to Austria, where we will see an exciting race through the Alps.
The stages are looking very promising with 2 really tough mountain top finishes, 2 hilly stages and 3 for the sprinters. Plus an ITT on the second last day to have another impact on the overall ranking.
And looking on the startlist it becomes even better. The biggest names riding in the Continental Tour take part.
No matter if Valverde, Alarcon, Van Den Broeck, Rujano, Pozzovivo, Caruso or Duarte. They are all here!
Coming to the favourites you would normally expect a stage racer being the favourite. So there is no way to come around Van Den Broeck, who might be the best time trialist of the best climbers.
But also most of the other mountain goats aren`t bad against the clock.
So surely Valverde is a big threat as well. The Spaniard had a decent Vuelta but this was Pro Tour. Back in the smaller division he should be one of the favourites in almost every race he participates.
Rujano is also one of these super climbers in the CT. He will need a bit of time on the better time trialists in the mountains, so we can expect some attacks by him probably.
Pozzovivo rode a pretty good Giro and surely wants the win in Austria.
Alarcon. One of the big dominators of the season so far. In most mountain stages he was too strong for the opponents. Will we see such a domination again?
Also Caruso, Lövkvist, Duarte, Lloret, Ratiy, Kolesnikov or Krasnoperov can win this one here on a good day.
So it`s pretty unpredictable to call a real favourite.
The other teams might go for some breakaways probably.
In the sprint competition we will see Chicchi, Vingerling, Gatto, Guillen, Rizza and Borrajo.
Not the biggest names but surely some interesting sprints as the biggest names are missing here.
A special view will be on the Division 2 team. A mix of 7 riders get another chance to shine. Again Laverde could be their leader as strongest climber. The rest of the team are mountain helpers, sprinters and a time trialist.
Surely they will need some appearances in the breakaways.

Gonna support our D2 guys, hope we can make a show like in Guatemala. A lot bigger names here though to compete against.
Check out my ManGame team here

Must be one of the stronger C1 race lineups of the season, for the former ProTour race.
A break will probably win then

Good that I just send Cucinotta and Ruijgh as decent riders here. The others are neo pros and Gayek, who is doing exactly what Kami predicted.
Ruijgh top15 would be nice. Cucinotta hopefully a top5 in the sprints. |

Honestly didn't expect such a field due to the 8 race days and the long timetrial, but that doesn't change our ambitions here. We want VDB to fight for the overall win, and if he can stay in sight of the best climbers until that timetrial, then our first ever win of big importance should be achievable!
- Looking very much forward to this race after Roche's bullshit in Wales, this will hopefully go better!

Hope for a Top 5, or perhaps even a podium from Caruso. He has been pretty strong in all the earlier mountainous races, so I set the bar high.
Valverde to win I think, but it'll be close against Pozzovivo and Alarcon.

Oh boy, I thought I did something smart sending Alarcon here, as I thought it was a .HC-race, and not many others would use 8 race days on this race.
At least the start list is like a .HC-race, but that doesn't help my case
And with that long time trial, I honestly don't know what to expect, a top 6 maybe, podium if lucky.
Good luck to everyone else, at least it should be some great racing on the two mountain top stages. |

This should be an incredible race to watch. Looking forward to it.
Van den Broeck, if he stays in contact on the mountains, should be able to win this one comfortably.

I trust in the Cya-breakaway-logic. If that fails, i won´t get any points here.

Good to see another D2 mixed team here. The level is much higher than in Guatemala, but hopefully they'll have a good race.

Happy to see Laverde Velez from Het here. I hope he goes into breaks in mountain stages and tries to get the KoTM jersey for D2. Not happy about the field though

Gaywood may be able to take a stage win. He can sprint and get over hills, or win from a break. Team Div2 looks pretty strong. |

Hoping for a top 10 by Lövkist here, hopefully sneak behind the favourites and not loose to much time and on the last hilly stage go in the break and take the yellow jersey and then defend it on the TT
Why did I send Chicchi here? On stage 1 and 6 he will be tired because of those little hills and on the last stage he is to tired because of the hard stages before that one
Well feel free to suprise me here Chicchi
Will definitely be a fun race to watch!
and roturn I saw that Lövkvist has Ferrari´s jersey and not Saab´s in the preview just so you know

Wow, it was a pleasure to follow the active D2-team in Guatemala, but this Continental start-field really means business.
Will be hard for our guys to do anything other than to get in some breakaways, and it will be very interresting to see the Alarcón vs Valverde duel, but VDB might snatch it due to his TT-skills. Will be an amazing race to follow

Sure, we're always ready to help a Swedish compatriot!
