Welcome to the GP of Wales, a very hilly race. The riders have to ride 14 hard laps on pretty narrow roads before sprinting for the win on a short but steep uphill section.
Lots of big names came to this small country hoping for the win.
Biggest favourite maybe Vespa`s Ginanni. The Italian recently won in Luxembourg and is well prepared on this kind of classics as his 3rd of last year shows. But also Bellis, Di Maggio, Roche or Cobo already proved their strength in the hilly terrain. It will be interesting to see how the favourites will perform on this hard route.
Also last years winner Froome definitely counts to the favourites. He already won some stages this season but the challenge was probably not as hard as here and so his team mate Bellis might be the better option for Rapha Condor.
Other names you really must watch are Roux, Gautier, Kolobnev and Roy. All of them are excellent puncheur although they might miss a bit to the elite in this race. Still they already showed some good racing over this season and could surprise.
Jayco as often this season starts with several possible top10 riders in Calzati, Cherel or Gerrans. Hard to predict their chances but surely they aim to collect some points here.
So do the outsider teams Cyclevox and CSC with Konovalovas and Costa.
Oz Cycling, Koppert and Cerne need luck and will probably be seen in a breakaway group.

Hoping for a cheeky breakaway win - though I think the parcours may count against it. It looks very selective which may give me a chance of placing 3 or 4 riders in the top 20 which is probably the best I can hope for.

So apparently I'm in this race :/
Oh well, hopefully Gautier can aim for a top 10. That may be unlikely though... My money is on Ginanni. The long long and tough race should suit him over some of the riders like Di Maggio who may not be there in the end.

Ember told me before he burried down in the deep, cold snow, that this race was nothing but narrow. My guess is that this will be just another huge lottery.

Okay so a mid race break will take it. If not then the early one.

Looking forward to this brutal little race after I gave it a test out a few weeks ago. I dont see how a break could have any hope of surviving really - theyd run out of energy

I hope Cobo starts a really crazy attack at the beginning and holds on to win it like Gil the Spanish Championship last year or Cobo at some recent races

Hope you can enjoy the race more than I did.
Probably the weirdest race I have ever played in PCM and surely the one with less joy...
At least some of you will be happy for sure. |

I had no idea what was going on until the end. Good result for Venchi though, and Rapha did well although I daresay SN will be disappointed not to have won. |

I was really confused about the kit Kadri was riding, until the results said he was Mandri
A shame you didnt enjoy reporting it - I had fun watching all the madness when I gave it a test run
Obviously a good result for Rapha. Weird what happened to Ginanni and Roche

Good job on the reports, roturn. I know, this race ain't fun to play or report, so I feel with you
No points for Oz, no surprise at all.. congrats to Venchi for this win!

What an interesting little race - it was a weird one for sure and with some randomness.
I will certainly take the 42 points the 10th, 13th, 14th and 16th will offer me. Roche, Roy and Ginanni I would have expected to finish ahead but got lost somehow.
This 'Kadri' guy did well whoever he is, his performance certainly led to the Rapha power chase that seemed to constantly split things up.

True. Mandri. Max them all the time. Also in real cycling. Won`t learn it probably.
The report wasn`t the biggest problem except of the difficulty to name all the right riders in the group.
But it was hard to decide, when you should do a screenshot as several times I just made one and 2s later everything was back together again. |

Correct!
Nice to win a race again. First one since Tour of Med.

Bit of a nightmare to report on that one.
No explanation for that result though. Even on a -5 day, I've never seen the strongest rider in the race (on paper) lose that amount of time in a race.
You did remember to make sure it wasn't random fitness, roturn? |

Every nice result for Costa, I was happy with 9th (As it said in the report) and was really happy to see he actually got 8th
